    I just recently found your channel, and I have to say that I absolutely love it! I can tell that you genuinely love, watercolor, and different pigments. I can’t help but to wonder what would happen if you put a buff titanium in this pallet! Think of all the granulating pastels you could make!thank you so much for sharing your color with us! I can’t wait to watch more

    Bloodstone, Sodalite, and Piedmontite are in my main palette and I use at least one of them in almost every painting. I used Jadeite the other day for the first time...boy, it it green! As always, a soothing video...your voice reminds me of hot chocolate--warm and comforting. Thank you so much for making the video!

    I was REALLY surprised by Minnesota Pipestone Genuine - I was planning on adding that color to my slowly growing palette sometime in the near future; but it looks much less pink and tan, then it does a soft orangey-reddish-brown... huh. And the Rhodonite! That's MUCH more intense then I thought it would be, mass tone especially. It's always so calming to watch you swatch, and I personally love the background sounds of rain... it's the perfect ambiance, LOL.

    Thanks for sharing your beautiful swatches. What I love about the genuine Primateks is how they can become mini landscapes all on their own when allowed to play with enough water. The Primateks I use frequently are Piemontite, Sodalite, Lapis Lazuli and Diopside, mostly in landscapes. I also own Hematite, Black Tourmaline and Serpentine, but am still learning how to use them effectively. You pronounced Yavapai perfectly, by the way!

      Oh, thank you so much for giving me the names of Primatek paints I can add to my wishlist on Jackson's. I really would like my next purchase to be Diopside as I have heard really good things about it - and I do like a lush green! 💖 And thank you also for reassuring me of my pronunciation of Yavapai - I was so nervous saying it on camera, haha 😄

    Thank you for this video. It’s very helpful to see what watercolor paint looks like on watercolor paper & not just in the online or brochure swatches. I have Serpentine & think it’s a beautiful color. Your swatching has shown me several other colors that are calling to me. ❤️

    I was suprised that hematite mills to such a warm color, but I probably shouldn't be as I think its a kind of iron compound. It might double as a useful neutral tint, to conserve space in a pallete, depending on how well it plays with other colors.

  • @loveandlife4222
    @loveandlife4222 Рік тому

    I think with all of these colors it would depend on what you are painting and whether you are changing the values. Most of the time when I am painting I need different values in most of my paint.

    If YOU do the out line and decorating of the page then can you make a video,
    I’d love to learn this vintage paper look 🥰🙏🏻

    I was equally fascinated by the Primatek line and I bought the dot cards from DS. I swatched them all in my swatch book. But then I realized DS is scamming us. If you grind up any genuine stone to the finest mill for water color, the stone is clear. So, after purchasing a few favorites at crazy expensive prices, I know there is a secret recipe with pigments DS is not disclosing for proprietary reasons, but are charging a premium price 🙄

    • @lilymoonart
      @lilymoonart  Рік тому +3

      Hi! I think I heard about some controversy about DS Primatek paints a while back, I'll see if I can find any more information about it, It's really sad if this is true 👀😔

    • @everartokelli
      @everartokelli Рік тому +6

      Please explain how the stones lapis lazuli, malachite, turquoise, etc, that have been used for centuries as paint by multiple civilizations (i.e. Aztecs, Mayans, Egyptians, etc) if they becomes transparent when ground. There's also no reason to grind stones any finer than one would grind any other inorganic, organic, chemical, earth or mineral pigment for use in watercolor. This is a speculative theory, that has no basis in history or fact.
      There are other small batch watercolor makers who sell watercolors made with stones, like DS, i.e. Michael Harding, A Gallo, Roman Szmal, as well as countless handmade watercolor makers. Are they also scamming all their customers? I very much doubt it.

    • @patti3d
      @patti3d Рік тому +1

      The only thing I know is amethyst stone if put in the sunlight looses its color over time. Amethyst is a quartz stone. Selenite cannot be put in water as it will dissolve. But many watercolor pigments especial long ago were ground up from stones. And they retained their color. So best to do your own research. Winsor and Newton has information on their website. But look into pigment history.

      @@everartokelli Please note that I said so finely milled for WATERCOLOR.

      @@patti3d I have. Scientists have pointed this out. DS is calling a pigment "Amethyst Genuine", for example, which implies that only Amethyst stone and what ever binders they use are the only ingredients. It just can't be.
