He was also the one I learnt most of my English vocabulary, so I am really happy to see how much his work in quranic teaching has evolved over the past few years until now. What a cute, adorable, and innocent child! 😍 We adults often overburden our children with the deen/ religion, and that is because we ourselves do not have an in-depth understanding of Islam. Children then end up perplexed, trying to solve the mysteries and battles created by adults' ineffective and confused teachings and messages!!!!
Aaj kal ke kids, they are very much exposed to the out world... So it is obvious he is loaded with doubts n questions. May ALLAH(SWT) guide this kid... Aameen

NAK gave a beautiful answer, secular study is actually study of creation of Allah, we get to know more about Allah if we are studying 'secular ' stuff, but one has to have knowledge of Islam as well.
My personal experience - depends on how deep you want to do Islamic studies. If you just want to learn Quran recitation than there is no problem as learning recitation needs just 1hr of study everyday. But if a student wants to become a Haafiz at a young age then he needs to wake up in fajr and dedicate the morning time for Quran studies and evening time for English Math Science. Bottom Line is that you need to wake up in Fajr if you want to learn Quran extensively.
Most kids don't even have the courage to ask their parents, siblings any questions or take up any topics of concern that bother & stresses them out because of what the reaction would be. I went through issues like self image, self esteem, self doubt because i was always compared to other peoples kids & if I ever did say anything which brought out emotion either I would be laughed at or just plain & simple my intelligence would come into question, so after a few attempts I stopped all together. It's one thing to have a war in your mind it's another to not be able to bring it out in the open because of fear. MaShaAllah Tabarakallah, both the child & the ustad had a meaningful & righteous approach to this interaction, like it should always be within our homes/families. May Allah Almighty protect all our children & give them vast knowledge of this dunya & akhirah & may all parents strive to be like this Ustad, honest, approachable, sincere & compassionate. Aameen. 🤍

I think, this question should be given much more importance. With due respect, I felt that the kid was somehow snubbed. He should be heard throughly, and let him narrate, the point of disconnection, in his opinion, between islamic and secular education. Thereafter, an answer should be provided based on his premise.
Btw this ummah need more to know about this. To be very honest I've seen that so many people in Muslim Ummah have misconceptions about these things. I don't know how these misconceptions are imprinted to our Ummah's sub-conscious mind... And it's becoming serious day by day... It's so sad. May Allah protect us from these misconceptions.
My 15 days teaching experience at RISC with grade I, class: Islamic Studies, A 7 year student was speaking English but can't read Verses, I thought he is foreign student, I asked him he said my baba is in army, I am from Rawalpindi, her mother don't teach us this.... This is kid from most expensive & reputed schools of so called International School. Welcome to Pakistan 🇵🇰
Mama took me to psychologists for not being focused during pre medical. After reading Muslims Holly Book before university, between university after graduation, I came to understand, though already compare during my academic years, All knowledge of Worlds, King of Books is Holy Quran!! But during Covid 20 proved. More All books/theories/scientific knowledge derived from Koran/Coran/Quran.
