Whoop Season (aka Winter) always brings us new micros to play with and the Meteor65 was the first one to arrive to my door. As you may already know, I have a soft spot for 1S whoops, they are a ton of fun both indoors and out - as long as there is no wind.
The biggest surprise for me was the canopy of the Meteor65. I have got used to expect the terribly fragile ones from BetaFPV that break just by looking at them, so the new and more rigid version was a big improvement. I am still torn between 19500KV and 22000KV and will probably continue to swap them back and forth for a while.
Another surprise was the performance of the 1S 300mAh BT2.0 batteries - and I don't mean it as a positive surprise. More on that later so stay tuned!

Hey, the cat liked playing! 😂
Yeah, didn't leave the whoop alone!
@@muteFPV haha :-)
for someone wanting to get into fpv by getting a tiny whoop first, this is all so fucking confusing lol
Do you mean the trust test part or the specs also?
The two Betafpv 1s F4 boards I just received were v2.1 and they had O-H-5 esc's. I was able to flash JESC 48mhz licensed with BF RPM filter active on 4k/4k. Flies sweet on my 75mm / 40mm prop whoop. With the BT2 connector and GNB 450mah I get over 3:30 flights.
One thing on the BT2 is it doesn't sag mutch, so you can't run it down to 2.9v like before.
Damn, I guess they changed the boards very recently then, I should get one of the newer ones to get full advantage of JESC's 48K.
Yep, although a bit too specific of a use case, the BT2.0 is a good connector. Check my latest connector comparison if you haven't already :)
Woah, great video! Like&sub is done, keep this quality for future vids
Thank you very much!
Cheers and like from Edu mate 👍
Thanks mate!
Just wanted to chime in...
Cool review and nervous flying. I was looking at your throttle and you're never below 50% 😜
I have a hx100 se bases on the FC and same canopy. It's indeed a pleasure to find something more solid!!
I'm running the spi_x in d16 with telemetry and the quad fell from the sky. It was locked, like a reset. I'm in touch with the support 😒 That said I also have had good experiences with beta. Much better than happymodel!!
Regarding fly times on the same battery, I get about 2:30-3:00 min of flying... And it's fast and nervous. It's cool! However I only had 1 flight!
These 300mA BT2 batteries are bad...
I was wondering whether switching to a larger one would mean more amps and thus the risk to burn the FC? What do you think?
Cheers!
After the issues I had with Crazybee boards, I run these small AiO FCs on D8 just to be sure and I have had no problems. I don't fly the whoops far anyway.
I don't want to speak yet about the 300mAh BT2 1S batteries from Beta, I am currently running tests and will have the results soon-ish.
If you mean switching to larger batteries, it should be fine. Just always be careful when doing turtlemode, this is when people (including me) damage the boards quite easily, if the prop binds up in something for example. I tried my old and trusty GNB 250mAh packs on PH2.0 and they flew very well - just saying :P
I have connectors too... and a few 250’s lying around. Just saying o:)

Awesome testing and review, dude! 😃
Fantastic flying!!! 😃
Thank you mate!
cooooool!!!!
Thanks!
After the Caddx Vista there is a lighter single PCB 20x20 DJI HD VTX that works with existing analogue cameras. I look forward to putting it in a whoop like this later this year.😁
It is exciting and scary at the same time. CaddX products are not always reliable. Let's see how it goes.
@@muteFPV Agreed. The Ratel mid flight freeze issue instantly springs to mind. Time will tell. 🤔
Ouch!
@@muteFPV ua-cam.com/video/Xzvr2tshyaM/v-deo.html
Damn, that sucks!
Very nice review, super informative as usual! I'm holding off for a Mobula6 like everyone else, so that would be nice to see a review of that. Ohh and I would like to see a prop comparison as well!
Just out of curiosity, does the frame make any difference in a thrust test? Like do the ducts actually add thrust, or are they just there for show? I would assume they are just there for show since there is such a wide gap between the prop and the duct.
Thank you very much :) The Mobula6 has been out of stock for so long, I want to get it too. The AiO FC reminds me of the board I had used in my Tiny Mute (brushed) and I am very excited about it. I will do some thrust tests on 22000KV until the Mobula6 arrives.
The ducts are not adding thrust as far as I know, but they are not just for show either. They are the reason why you can crash and crash and crash and crash a whoop and keep on flying :) And also the reason why you can fly a whoop anywhere and around anyone ;)
Gday D, great review of the betafpv tiny whoop i like the way it flys, you take those 1s batteries all the way down wow, awsome job flying, i never seen a cat chase a micro before ive seen plenty of dogs chase them, nice work mate.👍🛸
Thanks mate
I had bad luck with 2 of them. 1 had smoke as soon as I plugged in a battery and after a couple of days the other one an esc stopped working. :-( Glad you had better luck
So far it has been doing well on both KV options. What was the issue with the one that smoked on first plug?
Nearly DOA with mine. Flew 5min and fell out of the sky. NOTHING since this happened.
BETAFPV Support sucks!!!!
Answered once.
Since 4 days no answer!
Won't buy BETAFPV products again!
BTW: IFLIGHT support is great!
@Thor that is very sad to hear. Did you contact via email support or Facebook? I have had good luck with their products, except for the Beta85X HD that should support 4S but didn't and some of their batteries that have been sub-par.
Have you had any experience with the Happymodel equivalents? Because based on what I read and hear, their failure rate is very high (too).
@@muteFPV ESC as well... smoked on first plug in
@Drift pffff that sucks :(
Hi, I like with the cat, great ! 😁
Test the Mobula6 25000Kv. 😀
:D I am trying to get it but it has been out of stock for a long time!
Very nice cat chase :-) and good information. I guess like i see in your flying, the power of the 22000KV is way more but the flight time is at least one minute lesser. Sounds good for a acro style 1S whoop.
The meteor was a little beast on the high-KV motors! I enjoyed both combinations though. What I am not a fan of are the 300mAh bt2.0 betafpv batteries, they did not perform great.
@@muteFPV thanks for your impression. I will try to do more acro focused stuff with the meteor, so i think i will try the 22000 for that.
Regarding the batteries - yes, i use only the BetaFPV 300mah and... they are way better than that PH 2.0 stuff before. But that has to do with the connector only. I think there are better batteries out there. Like the Tinywhoop 333mah BT 2.0 (do they have BT 2.0?). Other options are not really available relatively cheap in the region of Europe, Switzerland.
What do you use?
I don't use BT2 much for two reasons: #1 is that there are very few battery options with this connector and I hate swapping battery connectors on whoop batteries that don't have battery leads and #2 is that there is not great benefit in whoops (check my 1S battery connector comparison for more details), instead I am flying my tinyhawk v2 on BT2.0 and converted many of my 1S 450mAh-550mAh and 2S 300mAh packs to BT2.0.
@@muteFPV yeah that is true. I had very bad expirience with the PH 2.0 connector and relating batteries, different ones. I also added a newer, better more solid PH 2.0 connector but it was not way better.
The BT 2.0 was way better then. Thats my expirience.
Another fantastic video! Looks like a fun quad.
Thank you very much!
Dang make me regret getting my 65x last month ugh. Really just wanted to know what a whoop felt like brushless but dang it!! I'm digging the new batt connectors!
Noooooooo the 65X is awesome! I had converted mine to 75mm frame / 40mm prop and it was a beast!
muteFPV that’s sounds like a good idea. I still favor my brushed 65 indoors so I may do that to see.
@@WSWarriorsStew here you go ;) ua-cam.com/video/4O6hgZezHXk/v-deo.html
19000kv for life
very nice video, thanks for shareing.
Thank you for watching :) I think I prefer the 19500KV too, so far.
@@muteFPV any idea how.those BetaFPV motors compare to HM/TW Motors?
I don't have the Mobula6 yet to compare.
For the tinyhawk you can get an idea from this prop comparison video: ua-cam.com/video/fHfkCyGqwC0/v-deo.html
edit: oops, you wrote TW :) I don't have any Tiny Whoop motors to try
@@muteFPV you stillp preffering 19500 than 22000kv ?? why?
first thing i notice is the OSD at 0:12 ..... 33s into the flight and 3.3v already :-( mine is the same super saggy and short flight times.i have 22,000kv. i bought a mobula6, hoping it's better.
I'm wondering if the battery lead they use is too small. Mine feels a little warm after flights, which says a lot because it's almost directly under the prop so it's getting cooled. I'm guessing that small wire is causing some sag.
did you show fpv footage from both 22 and 19000kv motors? there is a pretty significant jump in flight time starting around 6:07
thanks for the vid!
Their batteries are not performing very well. Still have some more tests I need to run before I share any results.
I think their battery leads size is fine. The DVR footage I show is with the 19500KV motors - I flew the 22000KV mostly indoors in my micro track in the house (but I don't want to show the new apartment in videos, at least not yet). The variation in flight times is because I was trying many different batteries and combinations of BT2.0, PH2.0 and PH2.0 to BT2.0 adapter.
Hey so I have the meteor65 but no turtle mode but yours does, am I missing a update or something?
When you toggle turtlemode and you arm, what does it do when you move the sticks?
@@muteFPV I dont even have the option to enable turtle mode in betaflight
ok, it is called Flip Over After Crash in the modes tab of Betaflight configurator :)
@@muteFPV my bad my esc/motor protocol was different I was not on dropshop 300 that fixed it
ah ok, that explains it :) wasn't it set to Dshot right out of the box?
test the EMAX TinyHawk 2

@@muteFPV google translate says that it means "blended apev t shirt" lol
Excellent ! Good review again ! straight to the point !
Thanks mate, glad you liked it :)
@@muteFPV Could you take a look at the FC and tell me the version number ? is it BB1 or BB2 ?
It is the V2.1 but I am confused. Someone on FB said that his V2.1 showed up with "H" ESCs. I think it was the black SE version of Meteor but the FC should be the same.
@@muteFPV Yea man i had like 4 of these fc and one was a proto 1.0 and it was bb1 but now they should be bb2 v2.1 ...i would ask Betafpv to get the updated esc ...it shouldnt be a bb1 at all especially if its a v2.1 , all of mine was -H- serie and flashed with JESC .... i ordered another one and hopefully it will be a good bb2
That is very strange.
