I bought some cheap disposable black cotton gloves for a few bucks on Amazon (the kind diamond sellers use to show off diamonds). I cut off the fingers and slid them on my wall hangers. A few pair took care of my hangers for less than 10 bucks. I hope this helps. 😊

Nitrocellulose finishes really don’t fully cure at the factory. They continue to release compounds months after the finish is applied. These compounds are what react with the rubber. If you just bought a new guitar with a nitro finish, just keep it in its case for the first year (and until the scent fades) then it should be good. If you have a vintage instrument that had its finish applied years ago, that’s fine for the stands as well.

      The way he explained that

In this part, I understand that after purchasing the Gibson for more than 1 year or more. How can I safely place my gibson on a guitar stand? Rubber will not have a negative effect on nitrocellulose. Do I understand correctly, sir?

Would Saran Wrap or Glad plastic wrap work on the rubber tubing? I have had several guitar finishes get a red stain on them from the black foam rubber padding on the stands. I’ve since wrapped the foam with pieces of T-shirts like you have done but some guitars want to slide around in the stand now.

Technically it should by I haven’t tried it out myself or know of anyone who has so I don’t feel comfortable confirming it my dude. My apologies but I’d rather you do more research before messing up your axes a bit more and it being my fault. I am trying to save y’all’s guitars not put them in danger 😅. If you do try it or come across someone who has, please let us know! It might help the next guy 💪🏻

Great info! I had an Ibanez RG that I refinished with clear nitro, unfortunately it reacted poorly to my Warwick rock stand. I didn't take the guitar off the stand for about 6 or 7 months. So it was stuck to the stand, and ate thru the clear coat and stain.

    Hello sir
I would like to inquire about how a guitar stand will react to a Gibson nitrocellulose coating. We can test by placing the guitar on the stand that we want to test for 10-15 minutes or how many hours will it take for us to be sure that that type of guitar stand will not damage the coating of that guitar?
    Thank you very much.

Hi there! Sadly there’s no exact time frame for this, sometimes overnight, sometimes less than a week and sometimes a bit over a week… you might start to feel it before you can see it… maybe try checking that every now and then. Once you feel it remove the guitar from the stand until you can protect it better…
      Hope this helps !

You could just build a small flat thin box with no top out of cheap wood and put really soft non rubber non plastic memory foam for upholstery in the bottom but wider than a guitar then screw some 2x4s vertical and diagonal then put memory foam on the 2x4s on the neck part and the stand will last your lifetime and never damage your guitar. You could stain it, or not. White wash it. Or not. The memory foam getting dented would actually help separate the bottoms and necks. But if you buy like a 5k guitar you should probably buy a $200 cast and keep it in its case at minimum lol. If you buy $300 guitars just put them on a rack and play them and let the finish come off. The fckn amount of effort people go to just to not wear a finish that is meant to age well like that youd save time and money just refinishing the fckn thing and taking a chill pill. Like people that buy a giant marble kitchen table but then make someone use a coaster the entire point is kindof lost then also no one can actually enjoy it. Or when someone buys some cheap fake sht then does the same thing. Human sweat and oils probably break down wood finishes and metal finishes more than anything. Belt buckles scratch stuff. Keys. Play the fckn guitar. If its not yours then treat it like its made of ice. Better off dont touch it or play it. Congratulations you have no excuse now.

I think you completely missed the point of this video…
I am totally for playing a guitar and wearing it down! It is an instrument and a tool and it’s meant to be used and abused! I’ve customized so many of my guitars in the past, dropped, punched, etc…
The point of this video is to recognize the guitar stands that for some chemical reaction end up burning into the paint leaving not only a aesthetic flaw but also a burn that FEELS horrible to the touch. (And sometimes even smells).
Now the big issue comes when stands like these (not this one particularly) say they are “finish safe” and when you buy it you realize it’s ruined your guitar. I’ve got plenty of 5k dollar guitars and I won’t keep them in their case because they were meant to be played. I don’t even have most cases at my home… they need to be readily available so yeah… I will go through the effort of making sure the stand is safe to use…

Plastic wrap sound like really, really bad idea. It would choke that area out that was touching the guitar and not allow it to breath probably causing the milky white spots I've heard about rather than the dark ink-ish stains I've unfortunately experienced.
