    Thank you for making and posting this video.
    (From Japan. Automatic translation)
    There was a non-Moper product that had the bearing rollers pressed only by the outer plastic. Care must be taken
    with such bad parts because the bearing roller will come off if it is hit with a hammer if the shaft is not fully inserted.
    The outer diameter of the bearing case was slightly thick and difficult to insert, and the length was too long to install the set rings.
    Despite having written Fit in liberty 2004! !
    Mopar is recommended.

    "Grab a small hammer," grabs what looks like a 3lb sledge.. love it. I like how flattened the top of that deep socket is from hammering it. I have a few of those. I use my sockets in the press a bunch.

    thank you for making and posting this video. I had done the ujoints on my 1989 Toyota pickup some 100 years ago. I have an 07 KJ that's needs it done so I looked it up to see if anything had changed. Nope, still done the same.

      Yes, where is this filmed? I usually have to heat that clip with oxyacetylene torch and dig at each one for 30 min.

    My wife and I own a 2007 Jeep liberty sport 4x4 , and unfortunately the ujiont is frozen so I'm using BP Blaster to try and losen them up . I had a safety clip break and I'm in the process trying to remove that ! But thanks for the video ! Have a merry Christmas !

    Thanks for confirming you need to hit that with a hammer. I hit mine a few times, clearly not hard enough, found this video, then I jacked it up some more, really banged on it, and it finally came loose!

    I had to use a hydraulic press to get mine out. I soaked them in penetrating oil. All the clips busted attempting to get them out and I had to press out the universal joints. 30 minute job, took 6 hours!

      R.A.M.-I.T. 9 hours here. Same thing happened to me. If I got a new rear drive shaft I could have the problem fixed in less than an hour. My rear u joint was seized.

    • @LanceB
      @LanceB  Рік тому

      I do suggest taking your driveshaft to a mechanic for them to press out the old u joint and to press a new one in

  • @thesetruths1404

    Should I put light coat of anti-seize on the lobes and caps?
    I've watched a few u-joint videos. Am I missing anything? Yours was the last one.
    1. Freeze new bearing caps for 48 hours.
    2. Mark all orientation of flanges.
    3. Whack around the shaft lobes with BFH. Lube and knock out the old caps with a BFH.
    4. Clean, smooth, and lightly spray lube the lobes. Clean the clips homes.
    5. New cold bearing caps should go in almost by hand, a few light whacks to set.
    Make sure replacement clips are the same thickness as originals.
    Some lobes will get bent from the press out tools when the old joints are very rusted in. So use a hammer to knock out instead.

      Remove driveshaft Have a shop press it out It saves time and labor in their end and you don’t have to leave your vehicle there It takes 20 mins for shop to press out rusted drive shafts

    Thoes yokes are worn out the caps should not just slide in and out, they should be a press fit this will cause a lot of vibration almost like a worn out U joint.

    Without going into details, while replacing the rear control arms on my 2003 Jeep Liberty the drive shaft pulled out from the front connection. Is there a way to now discover the proper re-installation to assure proper balance? Any advice will be deeply appreciated.

    • @LanceB

      Adam Adam by all means try it. I've done so in the past but since I worked on so many vehicles and the mileage on this vehicle I just stopped caring

    what are the symptoms of this U-joints going bad do they make like a vibration sound when you turn to one side and accelerate like on your rim or Tire and also when you accelerate after passing a dip in the road

    • @LanceB
      @LanceB  6 років тому +1

      Mr.69 yes normally after a certain speed you can feel the whole car shaking or vibrating. But that could also be a balance issue as well. Also, with the windows rolled down. From a stop listen for any “clinging noise” sometimes you can hear or feel the car, as if it was being jerked.. Another thing, if you go underneath and visually inspect by pushing on the u joint from the caps. You can inspect the u joint itself and look for any scraping or wearing of the joints... Sorry for the delayed response. I was out of cell phone range earlier. Thanks for watching! Feel free to ask more questions.

    Hey lance can you tell me what that big circular thing is on the end of the drive shaft towards the rubber seal?

    • @eegg6954
      @eegg6954 2 роки тому

      It's a vibration dampener. Supposed to stop harmonic vibration.

    • @LanceB
      @LanceB  7 років тому

      Eliasib Guzman yes I see what your saying. In my guide book it says the universal joints can't be replaced. You can order a whole new prop shaft through moparwholesale.com I highly recommend you get the part there or go on eBay and get a used one with low miles. Sorry for the delayed response.

      Adam Adam actually no where I live and want to fish the roads are extremely treacherous and too much for this jeep. There's so many big rocks and boulders I hit that i just stopped caring about the damage I do the undercarriage anymore. If you think that's bad you see my exhaust. Looks like a crushed can lol

    • @LanceB
      @LanceB  7 років тому

      Eliasib Guzman it can yes. This can work with many vehicles. You can find the torque specs for your specific nitro online.

  • @brentmiller2471
    @brentmiller2471 7 років тому

    hey lance. what is the rubber boot for ? Will the hose clamps throw it off balance ?....brent

    • @LanceB
      @LanceB  7 років тому

      Brent Miller the boot is to keep dust from entering the transfer case. No, the balance won't be affected. The clamp I put on as an assurance, since the oem clamp broke as I took it off.
