I laughed out loud!! I too as a child read the dictionary (and any encyclopedia I could get ahold of... yep I'm 45 lol) for fun. I loved ancient greek and latin as well in school and speak spanish. I was a national champion in the geek sports too. I loved Toastmasters and I love delving into patterns and communication. Work flow and organizational psychology fascinate me. What a great video!! Thank you so much!!
I was just in the nail salon and the woman sitting across from me talked throughout the pedicure. Every sentence included I don’t like. I realized by the time my pedi was done that I knew more about what she doesn’t like than what she likes. She finishes by stating, I wish I had a girlfriend to go shopping with. Ma’am, no one wants to hear you complain and judge the whole time. Maya Angelou said that words are powerful and they stick to walls. We must be aware of the energy that we bring into a space. I thought, she could have said, I prefer or it’s not my preference. One is open ended whereas stating that you don’t like something shuts the conversation down. I wish I knew this earlier in life. I was surrounded by people who communicated in this way and didn’t understand why life was such a struggle.
That short story about your study gives me some hope, for I like linguistics as well. Besides, I do appreciate the context of this video. Thanks so much.
You did not, we had originally planned on 5 and decided on 3, but the title page did not keep up. Thanks for paying attention. How did the 3 land for you?
What an empowering reminder!
Thanks for sharing your education background in Linguistics. This explains your polished style of communication. Articulation Enunciation etc
There are power in words.
Now woah! The similarities in our high school module selections and wanting to be veterinarians is so uncanny! Thanks for the spoken word Ms Ginny 😊

Hello Ginny, do you have any books to recommend?
Should
Can’t
Hate
Should is arguing with reality.
