Is this really correct? I'd always heard that baby carrots are literally younger and sweeter. I also noticed that regular carrots age well but baby carrots go bad soon after being opened.
Baby carrots are just cut up normal carrots. They go bad quicker because the outside has been peeled off while a normal carrot still has it.

This is at least partly untrue. It can be caused by chlorine and you can sometimes both smell and taste the chlorine on baby carrots.

That doesn’t mean that is what the white stuff. It’s so diluted it wouldn’t leave a residue from one time contact. Try it in your sink.
