I actually re-installed Generations again last night. I did a one on one comparison on PS5 and WRC looks significantly better. BUT…..not better than DIRT Rally 2.0!!!!! WRC is apperently next gen only. It looks worse than a previous incarnation on lesser hardware on a previous generation though. Dirt Rally 2.0 to Dirt Rally was even a large graphical step forward in the same generation. This is a five year development cycle and new, much improved hardware and it looks inferior in many ways. What bothers me even more is that I find the track layouts uninspiring, barren, boring and generic. For instance Monte Carlo is almost a.i. generated like it is done with the trackbuilder in Dirt5. The uphill righthand corners keep repeating themselves in exactly the same way. It is like driving the same road for 17 km’s. Trackside details, elevation (like the Turkey track in Kileton’s efforts) etc. are all substantially lesser implemented than in Generations and even Codemasters’ own Dirt Rally 2.0.
DR2 is visually lightyears ahead. WRC-G is also better than EA-WRC. Can't speak about handling and gameplay, i own only DR2 and WRC-G. I have the feeling they nerfed graphics in order to make it run smooth in VR even with low-mid hardware. A PS3 could run this visuals. Let's not joke.
WRC is quantity over quality, the sheer amount of roads at launch is mind boggling. For context, Dirt rally and 2.0 both launched with 6 rally locations with 2 long 10km stages each. WRC has 17 countries with up to 30km stages thanks to the move to Unreal Engine.

The cockpit of that Subaru is completely different in WRC. DR 2.0 they nailed it but needlessly changed it for WRC. No idea why they thought it was a smart move in any way.
All of the cockpits are new, all from real recordings, previously they were faked. Some sound better than others, but the ones that do sound good sound exceptional.
there are too many graphical bugs like disappearing hood and bonnets. and the game performs like asshole.. they need to fix this asap. also bring back ego engine
I have only played dirt rally 2, as my pc is not fresh enough to play WRC 23. However, it seems (visually) that DR 2.0 is better! I really hope for some updates for WRC 23 by the time I'm able to play it, but for some reason I don't think that will be the case... :(
Visually WRC is more realistic, DR2 is just more stylized. Which if that's your preference then cool, play games like nfs and the like that excell in that department. I don't get the obsession with trying to emulate fake vfx from the cinema into something that's supposed to simulate a real life experience for immersion.
@@andrewfetter4843 WRC dosn't look "realistic" at all, dirt/splash particles are static, trees and grass models aren't breezing, cars barely have any dirt stains and damages, tiny fart exhaust backfire. The way lights work is so absurd, for example in DR2 we can see how the sorrounding lights up when the car backfires, and how the rain only appears on screen when it's lit by head/tail lights. I know it's a new engine they are using, but you can't just lie to yourself that WRC looks better than DR2.
I tried both and overall DR2 is the winner imo. It's like food - Ingredients and taste is worth more than the presentation of it. A fancy plate can't save mediocre food. WRC feels like you're not really connected to the car, while in DR2 you instantly become one with it. The graphics is overall better in WRC, but that's just not enough to take the throne. I Have a suspicion that EA chose controller compatibility at the cost of less simulation for maximum profit. Good for those not having wheel and pedals, but not for me. I prefer hardcore simracing.
More low effort bullshit from EA Sports. It's such a shame they snatch up all these wonderful IP's. An absolute disgrace. Imagine a Rally Sim from a company like Kunos...

So glad that people post these kind of videos but not happy when their money has been wasted ! Nice touch at the end with Granturismo !

Dirt 2.0 looks better, plays better, sounds better. I wouldn't care too much about graphics, physics are what's important not graphics. The physics of WRC are a big step backwards compared to dirt 2.0.
Console vs pc graphics have always had a stark difference. Sure when they came out they had the same fidelity as a mid range pc from that year but of course that's not gonna get any better with time you have the same hardware and a system getting dusty and thermal paste drying out over time meaning thermal throttling will creap in over time as well....
reflections are all but absent in wrc. the environmental detail is better, but the lighting and the ambience is nowhere close. vehicle materials are flat, the cars don't even seem to really get dirty. this whole game has a lot that needs to be addressed. i can't believe this is being sold as "next gen"
Love how the new game is barely better looking (even that is questionable or personal opinion), and reflections are at 30hz on the new consoles with car losing it's own shadow when passing through shadows, which isn't a thing in DR2. The real problem is that it is much heavier to run even with inferior eye candy. I guess it is the new 2023 pandemic.
If you want unrealistic eye candy you can always go play nfs games lol. The game is looking more true to life which shocker isn't filled with over exposed and vfx oddities that only come from a camera. It's looks much better. Not to mention consoles are 3 years old at this point they are a generation behind compared to pc and will continue to have the same similar graphical experience until the next generation. It's like people forgot how shit works after the pandemic damn.
@@andrewfetter4843 if 30hz reflections and shadow disappearing under the car is realistic to you, then idk what to say. I don't expect games to have special effects and you totally ignore the "looks worse but is much heavier" part of my argument, specially when one is made for PS4 and the other for PS5, so the PS5 is 3 years old doesn't stick to me, since PC gaming hardware even though more new, it is immensely overpriced since 3 years ago, specially considering how heavy games have become this year.

DR2.0 is still better for me in my books. WRC has much better physics and driving is less chaotic, but everything else, I dont know. The whole vibe of the game is just bland and dull, surgically clean lets say. DR2.0 had a tone, a vibe, some artistic vision to it. It had its own thing going for it. WRC on the other hand just feels like boring. Like you slapped a reshade on RBR. But each to their own I guess.
I'll stick to dirt 2.0. Unless the handling / physics are improved a lot. But the handling of the car was already good in dirt 2.0. I wonder about the FFB for the DDpro.

@thepessimisticgamer91 EA WRC's physics are slightly better than DR 2.0's - specially on the icy and snowy roads of Monte Carlo, in which we have less grip now, which is more realistic. Still, both are arcade-ish.
Dirt 2.0 wins by a mile I played them both today. No where F near it… game feels like it was made by unhappy codemasters team with EA breathing down there necks to complete on a small budget… like in the first trailer * this is marginal gains * EA Easter egg
Too me personally it’s a step back and we should not support it sadly I did and I wish I didn’t. So just be aware
Good to know. Will probably stick with Dirt Rally 2. I never trusted EA. They ruined Grid too.
Its step foward to me felts like DIRT RALLY 1 higher grip with better suspension
@@Silentpartner2176 Don't listen to idiots... I bought WRC... it has performance issues but the gameplay is a MASSIVE upgrade from DR 2.0... I have over 1500hrs on DR 2.0... this is flat out better in every way... way more realistic physics, better stages, better modes, great fun career mode, car builder is fun... overall it's really REALLY good...
First of all finally cars don't need you to pull the handbrake on every turn lower than a 2 to be fast... real rally drivers don't work the handbrake as much as people think... they use the BRAKES to slide the car... anyway, this new WRC game is simply AMAZING.. if you love rallying, buy it... it's a no brainer...
It's definitely a huge step back, I knew EA will kill this game
@@nikosfotidas8543 these guys hating on it must be bots for real
In DR2 i can get 150fps on ultra, but in wrc i have to lower down my graphics to RBRrally for having a good performance 😂😂😂
exactly
Still, game is great even with this. Nice physics and I'm really having fun with sim wheel 🤗
True that. Looks like codemasters couldn’t get along with new engine softly. Hopefully next game would run and look better
it's 2023 and mirror reflections look so much worse then 16 years ago in dirt 1, how crazy is that?
If that was actually true maybe it would be but that's not the case at all.....
Okay, so they not only managed to make it look worse then dr2 but to make it look even worse then wrc generations
The lighting looks so bad in WRC. The 2001 Impreza's undercoat colour has been brightened for no reason.
Don't know if it's just my eyes, but Dirt Rally 2.0 seemed to a bit more visually fluid.
What i have noticed, the cars doesnt get dirty on wrc 23....In dirt rally teh cars getting completely dirty.....
They do, it really depends on a track surface. In Kenya your car getting real dirty by the end of a stage
iba a comentar lo mismo, parece salido del concesionario, seguramente le aplican alguna capa de pintura anti barro que aun no se ha inventado
Wait does WRC really have the menu music from Colin Mcrae Rally 04 or was that just edited in?
Is it me, or does the overall sensation of speed seem slower in WRC? Like you're going in slow motion in comparison to Dirt 2?
Speaking only in terms of graphics, I waited years to see Codemaster's official WRC because of DR 2's graphics. I was really disappointed.
Agree with you!
Hahah WRC23 is a joke, DR2 wins big time. Not even close.
Best news this evening for me: We’ve issued the refund to the payment provider. You should see a credit or see the original charge removed from your statement within 14 days.
What a rubbish game, a game not a sim with lots of bling bling that doesn't help
Hey wait... How'd you get this wrx in wrc? I didn't see it in the car list.
The shouldn't have touch the exhaust sounds 😅
there are too many graphical bugs like disappearing hood and bonnets.
and the game performs like asshole..
they need to fix this asap. also bring back ego engine
Graphically, it's true that there's been no progress, but I think that in terms of gameplay, EA WRC is much better than Dirt Rally 2.0.
how so?
@@iyadkamhiyeh527 physics, especially the grip. DR2’s grip on tarmac feels like you ride on soap.
@@clankclutchy That can easily be fixed with a patch but they decided not to. I wonder why... hmmmmmmm
I have only played dirt rally 2, as my pc is not fresh enough to play WRC 23. However, it seems (visually) that DR 2.0 is better! I really hope for some updates for WRC 23 by the time I'm able to play it, but for some reason I don't think that will be the case... :(
WRC already looks bad but somehow perform even worse. As for this time, there is no reason to play the game at all. Stick with DR2.0
DIRT Rally 2.0 > EA Sports WRC
I dont know about you guys but for some reasons it seem to me that dirt 2.0 graphics looks a bit better.
More low effort bullshit from EA Sports. It's such a shame they snatch up all these wonderful IP's. An absolute disgrace.
Imagine a Rally Sim from a company like Kunos...
EA Wrc is WRC generations 2.0
All the "EA content creator network" people have been selling this like was the evolution of DR 2.0, shame on them.
The new game look nice, and can be as fun as WRC generations was. But miles away of the fun in DR 2.0 (and of course nothing like realism of RBR)
Wasted oportunity of make a great game.
Some UA-camrs are selling their integrity and credibility to EA just to get free games. I unsubbed from many channels.
lol this game is dog poop compared to DR2. I knew EA would bend us over. Refund requested. And I’ll never ever buy another EA game like I said 5yrs ago with their sports games. This was different, being that codemasters was still supposed to be doing all the dev work. What a joke.
EA is a plague
Ego engine ❤..the nicest
I can't believe how EA WRC is a step backwards in virtually every way yet it's running on next gen hardware. The only racing game to me that truely utalises the power of PS5 is Granturismo 7 but lets face it it is stunning on PS4. I am happy playing on PS4 until we get truely get next gen games and sony now releasing the PS5 pro , it's a joke. So glad that people post these kind of videos but not happy when their money has been wasted ! Nice touch at the end with Granturismo !
DR 2.0 the king. Ea... meh.
I want to try a rally game on my PS5 and right now there is a January sale which includes both games. Dirt rally 2.0 much cheap. What do you guys thinks? Should I buy Dirt 2.0? I love to watch rally videos on youtube and I like new rally cars but I am not a great rally driver. I am much better in Gran Turismo.
Late reply try WRC 23 seem to be improved so far.
Even DR2.0 replays look better
CMR 4 main menu music ?
Dirt 2.0 looks better, plays better, sounds better. I wouldn't care too much about graphics, physics are what's important not graphics. The physics of WRC are a big step backwards compared to dirt 2.0.
The graphics are really bad on xbox series consoles. I feel like im playing a 10 year old game.
Dirt rally 2.0 was so much better
Ea WRC is far better in terms of car handling but DR 2.0 is graphically miles ahead
Wrc handles way better and true to real life. Wrc and dr2.0 both look similar but with the handling, career, better car selection, and better tracks it’s just the better game.
DR2? yeah it's much better
i hope in the next updates they would sand down the rough edges on the UE5 wrc. so far i am happy codemasters are now in charge of WRC title. only why they decided to switch to a new engine tho
it's unreal engine 4
Codemasters is no longer Codemasters. They are now owned by EA. I don’t expect much improvement going forward.
Dirt Rally 2.0 is three steps above. Dirt tutta la vita. ✊🏻
I'll stick to dirt 2.0. Unless the handling / physics are improved a lot. But the handling of the car was already good in dirt 2.0. I wonder about the FFB for the DDpro.
Csl DD user here, feels better for me, enough to warrant the cost. Also Rally1 cars are quite a load of fun.
same here. Dirt Rally much better as EA WRC. But for me WRC-G best rally game currently
@@indieman6868 stage design = wrc👌.
Physics = dirt 2. 0👌.
My experience 😉.
@@delta_13 i'll check some YT vids also. But after buying wrc 10 and generations.. We'll see.
@Simcade-racer yes, stage design in wrc-g is really amazing. 👌 I like DR 2.0 and WRC-G. When you have set up your steering wheel correctly, wrc-g is perfect to drive with good ffb effects. I find EA WRC very bad.
Nice
WRC has Year seasons ,Dirt 2.0 not.
ea wrc? crei que era wrc 8.........pongamos nuestras esperanzas en DIRT 3.0
Another gamer bias, WRC rally looks more polished. stage design, sponsors signs, interior views and dashboards (check the BMW M1)
In terms of handling, the new one is so much better! 😊👍
WRC-G much better as EA WRC. And Dirt Rally 2.0 > EA WRC
One more EA lazy release... They still don't use proper current gen engine... New game old formula and presentation.
dirt rally 1 was awesome because of PP and having loeb peugeot..
dirt rally 2.0 is an all-around best one...seeing 2023 ea wrc..looks like s***...haven't played...but seems not so so good
Dirt 2.0 replays look like 30fps
My biggest problem with Codemasters once again is the blatant and lazy re-using of +10 year old sounds, when in many cases don't even sound good or accurate, just loud. Think it's time they work just a second on it.
What are you on about? The sounds are actually realistic in wrc have you never head a real rally car tf....
@@andrewfetter4843 heard way more rally cars than you'll hear in a lifetime. Codemasters sounds aren't bad, but dated, some of them have been reused over more than 10 years, and the Audi Quattro specifically is just completely unrealistic, and an utter joke.
Dirt Campione
Yes graphics are not better but tracks are 10x better so it doesnt matter. Overall a better game
Whats better? EA WRC looks boring with the same track layout and trees over and over again.
@@suryopras ah and the extremely cardboard cutout lod trees littered everywhere past the tree line in dirt rally, as even seen dramatically in the thumb nail of the video, are amazing right? I also forgot having weirdly tiled textures that are high resolution but lack any sort of depth to communicate that detail is better than assets which use a mixture of proper depth mapping and textures which hide the tiling effect right? Seriously are you just playing at 480p and can't make a distinction at all due to lack of any visuals to compare?
Dirt rally puede con todos
Dirt Rally 1 o el 2.0?
Unreal Engine is a trash
Wrc is another rushed out product . The engine sounds and graphics are so inferior in every way . The handling is also so terrible it’s like playing an F1 game .
