His review for driving his literally everywhere on all types of terrain is that all the stuff that seems to be missing is not actually needed. He seems to be a really nice guy too. I own a 2007 honda rincon and it's hands down the best piece of machinery I have ever owned. I would purchase this new Rubicon in a heartbeat knowing the reliability of the Rincon. My 680 is used exclusively on my trapline in Northwestern Ontario with over 14,000 km on it and i can honestly tell you that this machine is an absolute workhorse. I have boxes built on the front/rear racks that have literally carried at least 300 lbs of trapped beavers on each rack while towing a small atv trailer with at least 400 lbs in it. No issues with this loads whatsoever. I know where my engine is comfortable, and I let the bike do the rest. As far as the transmission is concerned, I don't find anything clunky about mine , and as a matter of fact, I rarely take it out of auto mode. I find the 3 speed transmission is perfect for this bike. The heavy duty automotive style transmission is bulletproof. There's actually a documentary on you tube where a guy from Quebec has over 126 000 km on his Rincon. This is unbelievable. Now, can Honda get a little more power out of that 680 engine, I would say so, can they put a front locking diff ,high/low range and power steering, I would say so. If Honda did this, these units would literally fly off the showroom floors !!!
I'm sure it's a great reliable machine, but if I'm paying that much for a machine, I'm going for a Grizzly 700 or a Can-Am Outlander. Good review though.

@@edwardcote1331ironically the rincon is notoriously unreliable. One guy has a lot of miles but hundreds if not thousands have had serious transmission issues and it’s all well documented online
This feels like an insult rather than an innovation. Here's a BIG machine with that 700CC engine that people were begging for. But they've intentionally made it useless. No power steering, no adjustable suspension, no ability to tow (a 350 series Yamaha has a higher towing capacity), and no lockable differentials (and if you deal with mud or snow this is a REQUIREMENT). It's just such a half-assed attempt.. I think Honda needs to start looking at what people need, and not just playing the 'we're Honda! We're awesome!' card. There's been no innovation since 2008, and you can see the effect when you pass others on the trails. Honda has gone from being 'the' Brand to being a rarity.
Great review. I could put up with a lot of the downsides if the price was better. Honda is acting like CF moto doesn’t exists. They need to pick up the pace.
Thank You for the effort that you put into this video. Honda just isn't going to upgrade the drive train and suspension to compete with the competition out there. It's still the same old Rincon with the 3 speed transmission without a first low gear or sub transmission. Most people that are looking for that Honda tuff endurance ATV are going to go for the Foreman 520 or the Rancher, which is mostly all I've seen over the years. I come from the times when the 250es Big Red was the Cadillac of ATC's for utility ATV's and have a small collection myself, and as much as I love the Honda's , I'm still going go for the competition for better performance and ride quality for the money today.
Steve you should do an annual trail ride with your subscribers at the local trail maybe have manufacturers do demos and have vendors there with food and drinks
I was going to take issue with your review early on, thinking more standard goodies means a higher price BUT then the pricing came up & you are sooo right. This is a sub-$10K "CAN" quad & should have been priced accordingly, then people would gobble it up at $10K.
This is what Chris Rock must have felt like. That slap in the face from honda hit deep as a honda fan. After my new rubicon 520 was slower than my 420 rancher I conceeded and bought a new grizzly. Its been amazing. No jerky shifts. Plenty of power. Smooth engine without vibration in the foot pegs. I was still rooting for honda to bury the rincon and give something updated and they just put lipstick on a pig. If you have a wife/girlfriend who may ride your atv I feel the power steering is a must. We had foreman 500 without and once you get in a muddy area in the woods they stop having fun.
yup the new Rubicon 520 is slower than my 2001 500. Was hoping this would be the new ATV in my garage but just cannot do a dressed up Rincon. Grizz is going to be it
I was really excited when I heard Honda came out with a new 700 but extremely disappointed when i learned that it was a Rincon. For 14k, there are A LOT of much better options out there with low gear, locking front diff and power steering. The Rubicon700 (ex Rincon) is a 9-10k CDN machine. It's good for light trails and property/farm use. The lack of a low gear makes it undesirable. Honda basically slapped and laughed at their fans faces with this one. I guess we'll wait another 10 years. Excellent review as always.
a very honest review, though a few things: the shifter you said felt like older quads, yet i cant think of another one that has a range selector like that one. maybe the feel is slightly reminiscent of a older atv perhaps. the base grizzly actually costs slightly more (minus destination). the silver rubicon is the same price as a base grizzly. maybe you meant to say kodiak. the top speed you hit was 77kph. on a longer, smooth paved road id think (and hope) you'd get fair amount more out of it. good review overall as usual
Excellent overall review. I'm a Honda guy but I have to admit they've embarrassed themselves with this particular machine. And I know what people are going to say..."it's for work and farming, etc." Then where is the hitch and power steering for that price. Plus Honda doesn't care about the Canadian market anyway. IE...the Talon. Keep up with the great work. I wish I could work with you guys!!!
@longboardguy I mentioned the Talon because we couldn't get one here in Canada for quite a while and when we can it's always been the base model 1000x. That's it. No R. No live valve. No 4 seater. And the base model 2 seater 1000x is $36,000 out the door. And I'm in Southern Ontario Canada.
The Rincon is meant for light trail riding and makes am excellent rental atv for people who have never ridden before. Beyond that it’s outclassed by all the other flagship models on the market
yeah but adding a powersteering and diff locking and ajustable suspension on preload and hitch wouldnt had touched the reliability whatsoever especially coming from honda , improving a lot the rubicon while doing so , and lets be honest they could do it without even having to charge more cash to buy the unit,
Honda should’ve just discontinued this platform entirely. This machine, with these “updates”, and this price do absolutely NOTHING as far as adding value for the customer. This machine exists as a cheap money grab and nothing else.
Middle of the road machine not for regular riding freaks. You could put someone on it with little experience and they should be fine. The singles don't rev like the twins, I even tried an Arctic Cat 650 H1 vs the Cat 650 V2 and the twin gives more off the line. My top of the heap used to be my Brute 750 with lighter tires and steel rims, but the Renegade X 800xc might give it a new location on my list, soon for the results.
I just checked Suzuki website and you can get a 750 king quad with diff lock electronic steering adjustable shocks and 2inch hitch receiver all for 14,400 Canadian I know what I am buying
I rode my son’s 2004 Honda rancher for 8 hrs on very rough trails at Chadwick off road park in Missouri, no power steering, no front locker, stock nearly bald tires, no low gear and performed better than my buddy’s new cfmoto 500 with all the gadgets! By the end of the day my buddy asked how my arms? I said feels fine why asked? He said Honda have no power steering!!! I told him it turn easy on the move and doesn’t jerk when hit stump or big rocks!!! Most of time I sit and wait for my buddy turn on his lockers and set on low gear then after he climbed over bad obstacles he shift everything back normal while I ride over and move on hahaha!!! Now I currently own 1988 Honda 300 2WD for over 10 years and still perform better my buddy cfmoto 500 haha!!! I’m gonna get this 700 for since everything the same as old school!!!!
My wife cforce 500 outperforms the 520 with no problem…& my cforce 600 outperforms the rincon 680 all around. Both cforce models are faster than the 520 and 680. Honda waaaayy behind! Their 420 is the best seller. & it’s still bare bones to the competition.
@ CFmoto 500 and 600 are FAST!!! 600 are very awesome!!! Becareful with weak lower front arms on 600 though my buddy broke his rib and shoulder came out of socket!! The powerful engine pushes so much pressure as he made turn send roll over!!! 600 shows 65 mph on pavement not sure if his speedo is off though.
I understand what they’ve done with it if they plan on fixing the lack of updates next year or the year after but if they just leave it like this that’s just completely lazy of them, people were complaining that the rincon is so outdated and that they haven’t done anything with it, it seems like Honda did this just to shut us up.
I had an 06 Rincon, and it was a great quad in 2006. This foreman 700 is an insult to Honda customers, they didn't even really try to hide this is still the same 20 year old rincon. It pains me to say that I had to "upgrade" to a Polaris sportsman in 2015 because I didn't want to buy the exact same rincon I had bought 10 years earlier. This is a 20 year old ATV with newer plastics and an LED handlebar light, and its insulting.
Well, I believe it’s a very reliable machine over the long-term for what it’s designed for. I don’t believe it was designed for utility work like with the Ranchers, or Foremans. I believe they left the hitch off, because they didn’t really intend for people to tow trailers with it, as they offer the Ranchers, and Foreman models with straight axles better suited for those work applications. The foundation of the machine is a proven, solid , reliable platform. Japanese manufacturers go with a particular train of thought typically when designing machines. Reliability, and durability are usually at the top. For as me personally, it’s more appealing than the Yamaha Grizzly, but that is just my personal preference in light of the differences. I have never rode a Rincon that I can recall. I would need some seat time to determine whether or not I liked the way it runs. I can see that it wouldn’t probably be suited for certain types of terrain, where as it would be in others.
i think honda should put heated grip/thumb and a 3000 lb winch included for that price. i think i would buy one if i could afford it, because i like honda reliability.
I had a Rincon and really liked but after a shoulder injury I sold it because of the lack of power steering. Add PS and I’d go back to Honda in a second.
So they just moved the motor and transmission to the Rubicon. I had a 2003 Rincon. It was fine for light trail riding but is AWFUL for anything technical. No low range and no locking front diff made it pointless. If Honda had put the DCT behind this motor it would have been a big improvement. This motor is so weak, especially behind that stupid 3sp auto, that my Sportsman 570 would destroy it in every way.
15k Canada. wow. Hard pass.At that price I can buy a loaded Cfmoto for less and keep the savings for any repairs. I'll take my chances. GREAT machine 20 yrs ago.
Except for long-term reliability, that’s Honda’s category. Suzuki, and Yamaha will last a long time, but Honda would be the last one standing. That’s just Honda.
what i dont understand is why would someone buy this at this price point instead of a polaris sportsman 850 has over 2 times the hp, almost twice the amount of travel, power steering and a hitch for 11k?
I think Honda has aimed that atv at farmers who just want a basic atv. I talk to a few farmers and they say they don't want a unit with winches massive suspension front locker they just want a solid dependable no frils atv and they hate cvt they all want the old gearbox with metal cogs not belts
Ridiculous that Honda could do this and not put in power steering.... and to charge $14,000 plus! in canada. Nuts! 75km/hr! wow, garbage. All they did was add racks, led headlight, and decent tires and rims. Oh, btw, you won't be getting any more Honda's after this review. No doubt its a Honda. Haven't changed much since its its introduction. Could use a ground up overhaul. But in my province there's still Honda 3wheelers still going strong with many years of abuse. A Yamaha 700 grizzly is a better option. Even a Suzuki kingquad 750 is even better. Both also good for alot of abuse.
you can buy a can am outlander xt 700 for the same price pretty much and have a ton more value . better seat , power steering , way better suspension and ground clearance a built in winch

shouldive had a mountain steep decent test ..but its ontario , there is no mountains to do that test ..those rincons have bad engine holdback on steep mountains ..this version is probably just as bad
Need a teardown of the engine, see if we can bolt the cylinder/piston onto an old fourtrax/foreman since honda is going to give us such a garbage transmission.
I always felt honda just disregarded the Rincon for some odd reason. They have never put much effort into that machine at all like they just didn't want them to sale. Maybe it's a marketing thing just to offer it but it hasn't changed pretty much at all since it's existence. It's sad and it only now looks like a foreman. And the sad thing is. The foreman is the better machine smh. Shame on you honda. Shame on yoi!! 😂😂😂
Man nothing about the machine is a dealbreaker... except for 14 grand Canadian I think it should have power steering. It has many good points , but u can't see training my 2022 rubicon deluxe for it just yet.
That would be a step backwards. Probably real close in speed and much better features on the 520 with the 5 speed trans and low range. I have a 2016 420 rancher, 2020 520 rubicon, and a 2023 grizzly. The grizzly spanks all of these in comfort, features, and power.
@spyder000069 can't beat 700 grizzly man. I've got a 2024 viking with the 700. While I realize it's a single overhead cam unlike the grizz, it still works great and is tough as nails.
Honda already has a more powerful engine in the NC 750 motorcycle that is designed for a super wide torque curve and modest horsepower 59 horsepower at 6000 rpm, twin cylinder 6 speed dual clutch transmission that’s designed and known for its very low maintenance and extreme reliability and excellent fuel economy. This proven power plant would be a no brainer for an atv?
Sorry guys but I had a Rincon. It was AWFUL. It's a fine basic trail machine but it will NOT do anything technical without it being way more work than it needs to be. No low range gear and no locking differential make it a joke. Also, that 3sp torque converter automatic soaks up most of the motor's power. Top speed on mine was 48 mph on GPS. My Sportsman 570 will outdo it in EVERY way. When I saw there was a Rubicon 700, I got excited until I realized they used that same stupid transmission. Plus, Honda will put CVTs in their cars but not in an OHV. WTF, Honda?
Geez what a shame. They used to be leader in the power sport now they’re decades behinds. About durability …they all about the same it comes down to maintenance . Would never pay this much for a cheap 25 year old quad!

Those clowns at Honda keep screwing up every model they are selling. My old Honda lawnmower from the 80s were built like a tank, the new ones are garbage. So many issues with carburetors. Same for their vehicles, the old ones from 80s and 90s were high quality but anything Honda made last 15 years are pure garbage. What happened to Honda?!?! Move this brand completely back to Japan from manufacturing to parts supplier.
Very disappointed with Honda my last Honda was a 2016 Rubicon Deluxe foot shift. Still kicking along with 23700 miles, it’s a tank beat on that mf’er and never left me stranded.But this POS seems like it was designed by a old woman.
It’s just a RINCON with new plastics , same motor , same old frame , same shitty transmission , less suspension travel than a rubicon 500/520 and less towing , no diff lock , POS

My wife has a 2007 rincon. Last year I bought her a brand new can am maverick trail. She will not let me sell the rincon.

Love my 2021 Grizzly 700. Looked at Honda and the Kawasaki, always leaned Yamaha, because my 2002 Raptor 660 still running great,

If it had a front diff lock and eps, I'd probably have one. As it sits, I don't see it selling at that price
Good review. A few improvements would make this a great atv. Low range for towing and power steering would be a start. I'll keep my 520 for now.
This ATV is disappointing in 2025. Grizzly is a much better option EPS, Front locker and adjustable preload springs..
My rubicon 520 has eps and diff lock .
This makes me very happy with my 09 550 Grizzly EPS.
Grizzly 550 is excellent all around atv. It’s every bit as fast as the Polaris 570 in our group. Wish Yamaha would have kept making that model.

I rode my son’s 2004 Honda rancher for 8 hrs on very rough trails at Chadwick off road park in Missouri, no power steering, no front locker, stock nearly bald tires, no low gear and performed better than my buddy’s new cfmoto 500 with all the gadgets! By the end of the day my buddy asked how my arms? I said feels fine why asked? He said Honda have no power steering!!! I told him it turn easy on the move and doesn’t jerk when hit stump or big rocks!!! Most of time I sit and wait for my buddy turn on his lockers and set on low gear then after he climbed over bad obstacles he shift everything back normal while I ride over and move on hahaha!!!
Now I currently own 1988 Honda 300 2WD for over 10 years and still perform better my buddy cfmoto 500 haha!!! I’m gonna get this 700 for since everything the same as old school!!!!
My wife cforce 500 outperforms the 520 with no problem…& my cforce 600 outperforms the rincon 680 all around. Both cforce models are faster than the 520 and 680. Honda waaaayy behind! Their 420 is the best seller. & it’s still bare bones to the competition.
@ CFmoto 500 and 600 are FAST!!! 600 are very awesome!!! Becareful with weak lower front arms on 600 though my buddy broke his rib and shoulder came out of socket!! The powerful engine pushes so much pressure as he made turn send roll over!!! 600 shows 65 mph on pavement not sure if his speedo is off though.
I understand what they’ve done with it if they plan on fixing the lack of updates next year or the year after but if they just leave it like this that’s just completely lazy of them, people were complaining that the rincon is so outdated and that they haven’t done anything with it, it seems like Honda did this just to shut us up.
Honda should have used the trans alp 750 twin, a 6 speed dct with dual range. sad they did not as that would be a amazing atv

Mechanical people just appreciate that Marvel 3-speed transmission and internal torque converter more. Rubber belts are terrible.

I had an 06 Rincon, and it was a great quad in 2006. This foreman 700 is an insult to Honda customers, they didn't even really try to hide this is still the same 20 year old rincon. It pains me to say that I had to "upgrade" to a Polaris sportsman in 2015 because I didn't want to buy the exact same rincon I had bought 10 years earlier. This is a 20 year old ATV with newer plastics and an LED handlebar light, and its insulting.
Well, I believe it’s a very reliable machine over the long-term for what it’s designed for. I don’t believe it was designed for utility work like with the Ranchers, or Foremans. I believe they left the hitch off, because they didn’t really intend for people to tow trailers with it, as they offer the Ranchers, and Foreman models with straight axles better suited for those work applications. The foundation of the machine is a proven, solid , reliable platform. Japanese manufacturers go with a particular train of thought typically when designing machines. Reliability, and durability are usually at the top. For as me personally, it’s more appealing than the Yamaha Grizzly, but that is just my personal preference in light of the differences. I have never rode a Rincon that I can recall. I would need some seat time to determine whether or not I liked the way it runs. I can see that it wouldn’t probably be suited for certain types of terrain, where as it would be in others.
i think honda should put heated grip/thumb and a 3000 lb winch included for that price. i think i would buy one if i could afford it, because i like honda reliability.
I had a Rincon and really liked but after a shoulder injury I sold it because of the lack of power steering. Add PS and I’d go back to Honda in a second.

No problem at all just a wire broke for the hand warmer lol. I plow snow in the winter also.. I really like honda but glad I went with suzuki.
In 2009, my Grizzy 700EPS was a more capable ATV than the Honda Rincon. In 2024, that same 2009 Grizzly is a more capable ride than the 2025 Rubicon.
they were the leader in the 80s with their ATC and Fourtrax and look what they did with this ''new'' machine....they can do much better

So they just moved the motor and transmission to the Rubicon. I had a 2003 Rincon. It was fine for light trail riding but is AWFUL for anything technical. No low range and no locking front diff made it pointless. If Honda had put the DCT behind this motor it would have been a big improvement. This motor is so weak, especially behind that stupid 3sp auto, that my Sportsman 570 would destroy it in every way.

Except for long-term reliability, that’s Honda’s category. Suzuki, and Yamaha will last a long time, but Honda would be the last one standing. That’s just Honda.

I think Honda has aimed that atv at farmers who just want a basic atv.
I talk to a few farmers and they say they don't want a unit with winches massive suspension front locker they just want a solid dependable no frils atv and they hate cvt they all want the old gearbox with metal cogs not belts

No doubt its a Honda. Haven't changed much since its its introduction. Could use a ground up overhaul. But in my province there's still Honda 3wheelers still going strong with many years of abuse. A Yamaha 700 grizzly is a better option. Even a Suzuki kingquad 750 is even better. Both also good for alot of abuse.
you can buy a can am outlander xt 700 for the same price pretty much and have a ton more value . better seat , power steering , way better suspension and ground clearance a built in winch

shouldive had a mountain steep decent test ..but its ontario , there is no mountains to do that test ..those rincons have bad engine holdback on steep mountains ..this version is probably just as bad

Need a teardown of the engine, see if we can bolt the cylinder/piston onto an old fourtrax/foreman since honda is going to give us such a garbage transmission.
I always felt honda just disregarded the Rincon for some odd reason. They have never put much effort into that machine at all like they just didn't want them to sale. Maybe it's a marketing thing just to offer it but it hasn't changed pretty much at all since it's existence. It's sad and it only now looks like a foreman. And the sad thing is. The foreman is the better machine smh. Shame on you honda. Shame on yoi!! 😂😂😂

Man nothing about the machine is a dealbreaker... except for 14 grand Canadian I think it should have power steering. It has many good points , but u can't see training my 2022 rubicon deluxe for it just yet.
That would be a step backwards. Probably real close in speed and much better features on the 520 with the 5 speed trans and low range. I have a 2016 420 rancher, 2020 520 rubicon, and a 2023 grizzly. The grizzly spanks all of these in comfort, features, and power.
@spyder000069 can't beat 700 grizzly man. I've got a 2024 viking with the 700. While I realize it's a single overhead cam unlike the grizz, it still works great and is tough as nails.
Honda already has a more powerful engine in the NC 750 motorcycle that is designed for a super wide torque curve and modest horsepower 59 horsepower at 6000 rpm, twin cylinder 6 speed dual clutch transmission that’s designed and known for its very low maintenance and extreme reliability and excellent fuel economy. This proven power plant would be a no brainer for an atv?

Sorry guys but I had a Rincon. It was AWFUL. It's a fine basic trail machine but it will NOT do anything technical without it being way more work than it needs to be. No low range gear and no locking differential make it a joke. Also, that 3sp torque converter automatic soaks up most of the motor's power. Top speed on mine was 48 mph on GPS. My Sportsman 570 will outdo it in EVERY way. When I saw there was a Rubicon 700, I got excited until I realized they used that same stupid transmission. Plus, Honda will put CVTs in their cars but not in an OHV. WTF, Honda?

Those clowns at Honda keep screwing up every model they are selling. My old Honda lawnmower from the 80s were built like a tank, the new ones are garbage. So many issues with carburetors.

Very disappointed with Honda my last Honda was a 2016 Rubicon Deluxe foot shift. Still kicking along with 23700 miles, it’s a tank beat on that mf’er and never left me stranded.But this POS seems like it was designed by a old woman.
