People always say “Honda has outdated technology this & that.”. It just makes me laugh, cause anybody that has owned a Honda ATV knows how bulletproof their reliability is. My father has a 2000 Honda Foreman & I have a 2007 Rincon. Neither quad has seen a wrench in their lives.

    I've got a 16' 680.
    Pros-
-Plenty of power, never got stuck w/o the locking differential, but i don't go thru 2' deep mud.....
-Steering is easy- you wouldn't know it isn't power steering.
    -Starts and runs every time.
-It'll haul hundreds of pounds in a small trailer effortlessly
    Cons-
-Either a 4 speed or lower 1st gearing. As a putterer on the ranch, I don't need to go 20+ MPH in low gear.
-The battery mounts in the rear fender well- weird! Tho in a 2 piece plastic enclosure, I worry about water exposure, not to mention having to hunker down to reach in for battery access.
-Could use more aggresive tread on the stock tires.
-Count on doing basic (it's easy!) maintenance yourself. The dealers here in California are far and few between and our local dealer is squirrely and can't find good mechanics. Independent mechanics don't like the space the quads take up in their shops. Our Hondas only need oil changes and air filters. They just run and run. Keep a gas stabilizer in the atv's unless you use them enought to be added gas occasionally, as the ethanol in gas goes bad so quickly.
    Upgrades-
I added aux. LED lighting bar, a hitch receiver, and cargo baskets, front and rear.
What a shame these aren't street legal for grocery and feed store runs!

The problem with that Yamaha Kodiak is that it's a automatic transmission and I can't do automatic. It's like a winding rubber band. And it sounds awful. Not to mention it takes away the fun Factor. When I grew up as a child we had a three wheeler with a 5-speed and it was a blast to drive but automatic transmissions are not fun. They need to offer the Rincon with a 5-speed foot shift or a 5-speed DCT. And also offer an option without power steering That automatic needs to be thrown in the garbage

Im thinking spending money on engineering a new model is the issue for them. The majority of buying a new fourwheeler either judt want a reliable work horse like a honda, or a powerhouse of a machine like a canam. Im thinking honda cant justify engineering a bigger than 500cc four-wheeler when their other models will sell more.

1- Power steering - turning at low speed and weight on machine and/or in technical terrain, Power steering is a must!
    2- Low range -
3- New engine design and layout - An 850 cc would be good and make one that allows for easier cam chain adjustment.
4- Other general updates and features that add comfort and accessories.

I agree with another post here. Honda definitely needs to step it up with their welding quality. I had a 450 Foreman ES and some of the welds on the frame (especially on the underside of the machine) gave me the proverbial “pucker factor” when I was riding on bumpy roads and trails. I love Hondas, but before I invest in another one I definitely plan on looking at every weld, prior to signing any paperwork. I highly recommend anyone else doing the same thing. Oh yeah, more and more people these days have been going the UTV route. That's why we're seeing so many ATV models phased out.
Most definitely, EPS can be a big deal breaker as once you experience one with it - it's extremely hard not to buy one with it. Especially when it comes to massive ATVs like these. "it's hard to kill a Honda". I grew up on TRX 250x's back in the 90's and fell in love with Honda reliability. Now I'm looking for an ATV that will be suited for mostly work on the farm, dragging a trailer, and some trail cruising. I don't need an insane off-road speed demon just looking for a general workhorse that is reliable and has some features. It's odd to me that Honda has their 'highest spec' utility ATV - the Rincon, that has less features than the other utility ATV's. Perhaps I'm missing something, but the Rincon doesn't even have a place for a ball/hitch or diff locks... seems the Foreman Rubicon has more features.

One thing we do have to keep in mind though, that's the MSRP and 99% of the time you can buy them well below that. Well, when prices aren't inflated because of the corona mess lol. But up until last year, even though their MSRP was $9,499 you could regularly buy them in the $7-8,000'ish range when they had rebates etc. It doesn't seem like it was that long ago that people thought $15k was a lot for a side by side and now we have people lined up to pay $25k and up for one lol, crazy times!
