I love the passion and the rustic versions of Jamie's meals.
Me too 😊
Same!!!!
jamies 1800s cooking show is my fav !
This is EXACTLY how my family have been making Boxing Day bubble for generations, bubble, fried eggs and left over ham with piccalilli is my favourite family tradition!
Same as that👍its tradition in our family
That sounds fabulous 👌
I love family traditions ❤
Merry Christmas to everyone in the comment section, and Jamie.
Have a blessed one 🙏👍
British cuisine at its finest
Sorry Jamie, what are left-over roast potatoes?
I just laugh at that...not with my family😋
@@komalahayes1535 nor mine...
No left over roasties in our house either 😋
@@jansteingold2950 Never mind the poor babies that never make it to the table...😋
Never 'eard of 'em.
Here from Magic the Noah. I must know more about British Cuisine
Yo same!
Bubble and squeek is not even remotely as ' Chefy' as this . Left over mash with chopped cabbage and a wee bit of onion .
Boxing Day isn’t Boxing Day without Bubble & Squeak!! I love it with leftover cold cuts & pickled beetroot in malt vinegar 😋
Saw this on Ragusea this week and wanted to see a traditional British version. I'm not disappointed.
This is not a traditional method, bubble and squeak is primarily mashed potatoes and cabbage, in fact whatever Jamie Oliver cooked in the above video, I would not even call it bubble and squeak.
@@truthseeker444 Do you have a source for someone who makes British traditional recipes? Or websites with such? I often use bbc good food. Is that a good source?
@@truthseeker444 - Oh come on, Jaime didn't claim it was traditional!
Whilst it's true this recipe isn't 'bog-standard traditional', it still adheres to the basic concept of using leftovers, which of course is where the idea of B&S comes from. Varied ingredients makes it more interesting.
If all you're going to do is fry up cabbage and spuds, it would a bit of a waste of Jamie's talent tbh. After all, any old fool can make plain bubble.
Absolutely love good old Bubble & Squeak! You can put ANY leftover veg in it, and serve it with so many different things. Great with cold roast meats.
Salute . . .
For several years you have held up the food trophy!
You give life to the food plates, with your wonderful dishes 😍
Happy holidays from the Caribbean island of Trinidad and Tobago 🥳
As someone who absolutely hates leftover/reheated potatoes of any kind, I have been meaning to try this one.
God bless leftovers, God bless them every one, the bubblier and squeakier the better.
Introduced this to my American family. They call it "Pop & Squirt" and love it.
🤣😂
It’s bubble abs squeak lol😂😂💀
Thats like my Australian brother in law calls toad in the hole , ( frog in the pond ? Lol love it
That’s hilarious 😆
@@Luna.311 😅🤣😂
Love it 💖 Mr. Oliver please show us more party leftover recipes.
I’ve made this recipe about six times now, and it is one of my favorites
Looks absolutely delicious. Thank you chef 👨🍳
Hello chef Jamie. I would like to thank you for teaching us cooking in the year 2020. And I wish you and your family a Merry Christmas and many successes for the coming new year and a happy New Year to all of you!!
🎄☃️❄️⭐🎅🎄☃️❄️⭐
Thanks Jamie, bubble & squeak is the best. I steam/boil extra vegetables so have enough for this, and mostly with cabbage in it- also hence the 'squeak' name. We had it many times with my English grandparents. Let it settle in the buttery frypan for a crispy crust, then mix in softly, and repeat. so crisp is mixed with the soft, then let it settle again for that final turned over yummy crispy bottom.
I absolutely love your books. We grew up eating bubble and squeak in South Africa as well with all the British influence. Slightly different since it's usually leftovers from roast dinners so roast pork or lamb, spinach, leftover roast potatoes etc but we just chop the lot into bite size cubes and cover with beaten eggs and bake till golden. My hubby just got me one of your books I didn't have yet for Christmas. The 30 minute meals. My favourite is Jamie at home. Someone borrowed my Christmas one and I can't remember who 😭. Have a blessed day and thank you for the awesome recipes. I'll confess I actually read them like stories. I can never stick to a recipe 🤣. I'm a home cook so I add a little bit of this and that and taste till I like the outcome.
Great recipe!
Much love from Switzerland
Thanks Jamie! In these trying times, your cooking shows put a smile on my face. Love watching you. Merry Christmas from Canada 🇨🇦
That was my favorate dish in the university canteen during my university yrs in the UK because the canteen ladies used to really pile it on my plate. I had forgotten it all these yrs but tommorow I am going to try to cook it at home.
Oh my goodness. I’d love to eat in your kitchen. Everything about this video was fabulous. Thank you for always sharing such deliciousness with us as only you can. Hope your holidays are filled with love and joy. ❤️♾
Been having bubble and squeak since I can remember. Great way to use left overs.
Outside on the inside is the most important step. Love it! :D
I made this on Boxing Day with half parsnips and half roast tatties with all the veg. It tasted out of this world. TY JO.
Jamie is looking healthy.
It’s Christmas ya melt what else I’d there to do
No he’s not , look at his vids from a few years ago. His weight would fall under “obese” now.
@@LogicPakVERY chunky he is
Bubble & Squeak with some thick slices of bacon is the best Monday dinner

Bon Noël 🎄
🇵🇹
That's good that. Looks lovely
Jamie never fails.... Top Chef in my book.
You have a very small book.
He said " now let me introduce some seasoning; salt and pepper..." l laughed for 20mins... 😂😊
Just stumbled across this and have been making it just like this for years only difference is is that I flip it like a pancake so it’s crispy on both sides mmmmmmmmmmm
Nothing like some sizzle and fizzle for breakfast.
I love the bubble
I made some yesterday with crushed new potatoes sweetheart cabbage a full bulb of garlic yes a full bulb fried sea salt black pepper butter and a good splash of worstershire sauce was bloody beautiful
Simple food, comforting and tasty.
What more can one ask for?
There are no excuses for not eating well.
Thank you Jamie.
Jamie is great at the the simple rustic Just like we cook at home. Leftovers are gold. So much you can do with them. After all, how many times have we cooked for a family of 5 and only two sons shoed up. LOL For the bubble and squeak, I like to use potato's, carrots and beets. Even toss in a sweet potato. It's lovely. Its crispy on the outside and smooth and moist on the inside. As as he says, you can use just about anything as long as you have potatoes.
My favourite Christmas dish 😋
My Grandma's recipe for b+sq, 1portion. 200g leftovers, 2 eggs, hot frypan, cooking oil.
Could not believe that it works.
Perfect. Thanks Jamie and
Happy Christmas from Germany
Nice! I've gotta try it.
🎄Merry Christmas & Happy New Year!☃️

Great job Jamie please keep up the great work and please keep safe with all the family god bless
Inexpensive and delicious! You are amazing Jamie!
The movie Bringin' Down the House brought me here! LOL!
Im going to try this tonight
Piccalilli is an event on its own. Enjoyed and respected this video.
The marriage with bubbles and squeak was curious. Suppose as a deposit of a pauper, elevated may not resonate with this dish, young man.
Cabbage, and potatoes, amigo; no complications.
auguri e Buon Natale Jaimie. Baci da Firenze.
I love Jamie he just comes across as such a lovely chap
SUPER!!!
Thanks Jamie. MERRY CHRISTMAS and HAPPY & HEALTHY NEW YEAR 2021 Bisous de la France
Bubble and Squeak cannot get more ol school than that. Whatever cooked meats and veggies leftovers you have, but you got to watch it like a hawk, for it can turn on you and burn. The piccalilli was a nice touch.
🏰 excellent
I love adding leftover stuffing and even a drizzle of leftover gravy
Jamie is finally turning into a chef than can be trusted. :)
Looks good

It has to have sprouts in it for it to be proper Christmas bubble and squeak, my boxing day favourite
I like to watching your cooking shows. Love love very much! Marry Christmas & Happy New Year!
good way to make sure the leftovers don't go in the bins but in the belly.
yes. thanks jamie.
“I’ve got some lovely chestnuts “ 😂😂

O wow looks good Jamie
never heard of this but it looks good
I agree, your Christmas cook book is an amazing piece of work. I can't wait to start cooking from it!🏆🏆
Just tried this. Didn't do the whole thyme etc at the beginning just a bit of salt and pepper but wow great stuff thank you
I love Bubble and Squeak at ANY time, so I cook some peeled potatoes and some cabbage or sprouts. Then, once they're cooked and have gone cold, I heat olive oil and butter in a fry pan and put the broken up potatoes and chopped up cabbage into the pan and then I just do what Jamie does in the video. I take a masher and mash the veggies and cook them for a LONG TIME. You really have to do that part, so you get lots of yummy crispy bits 😋 😍 👌 😜 Ooh, I'm going to make some today. Thank you Jamie, you're absolutely Pukka mate!
P.S. My method is not the same as using cold roast potatoes, but it's great for when you want Bubble and Squeak at ANY time. Edit: And you do need to season the mixture well because the pots haven't been roasted.
Yum!!
I remember Clarissa Dickson-Wright doing B&S, opening by saying "If you don't use lard, don't bother making it" 😂
The words hot and steamy do not belong in the kitchen.
😂😂😂
