- It's the 1991 and the war in Iraq is in full swing. A package of two Italian Tornado's take off from Bandar Abbas with the objective to strike a runway near Kuwait city..... Inspired by a true story.. the story of Bellini and Cocciolone, the Italian crew shot down over Iraq during a strike mission in January 1991.

Highly recommend the book Tornado by John Nichol (RAF Navigator shot down in the Gulf). Some of these shots are very reminiscent of stuff described there.

The maneuvers that were made were from the Top Notch Self of the Tornadoes Flight School Tactics. Unfortunately the pilots used these tactics (low level attack run in high speed) on a wrong battlefield.... Tornadoes were made according back in the days to reply to a Sowjet attack.

It's a Tornado. :)
Why go vertical over the target, and become a target yourself? Using low altitude and TFR is the best weapon in the Tornado arsenal. Set the autopilot to a very low altitude, and set it for a hard ride, and no one will be able to shoot at you.
Pop up to deliver your payload, and then back down in the dirt for your egress, until out of range of known weapons systems. A low hard ride is almost as exciting as sex, but you need confidence in your autopilot, and TFR connection.
