And with money being supplied by outside influencers, to fund the election of more of these America hating politicians, we are fast losing our country and rights to stand up to them. This next election, may very well spell the end of America as we know it. And we've got a constuitution enumerating our rights. We need to stop letting people rise to that height of power, with hierarchical power structures there is no real accountability to the ruled for the ruler, but in a horizontal power structure the ruled are their own rulers and the accountability is theirs. I will say, the whole "15-minute city" thing is silly because literally you look at walkable cities versus my car-dependent city and they have more resource autonomy, individuals have MORE power, not less and they have way better qualities of life. Also, car-centric infrastructure is literally easier for the central government to control because you can only go where the gov't lays down roads and you have to spend all of your time driving to and fro for everything in life. My mom spends so much of her week behind a wheel and it is destroying her health and happiness, and we have no real freedom from the mechanisms we are forced to feed ourselves with. Now we are growing our own food so it takes some of the pressure off but I can say that just because they might sound more restrictive, based on my personal experience they give ordinary people more power over how they can spend their time and money rather than all of your extra cash becoming gas money. I hate centralised governments and big businesses who do that funny elite projection thing about how thy think society should function yet they are fundamentally out of tough with the needs of the layman. All they want for you is to buy another car and live in your single-family housing unit, complaining how everything that isn't an American-style suburbian house is "ruining the character of the neighborhood". I have lived in places like this and I guarantee you nothing is being ruined by designing a city based on how it can serve human beings and our needs rather than the modern development mechanism churning out properties for you to survive in, instead of designing settlements for people to live their best lives together. Lol, anybody being gullible enough to think small-scale farming is somehow worse than large-scale farming has never been to a small farm or a large farm. there is a notable difference, and we need more competency in the general population because it is fucked up that more people can't feed themselves because of how our modern society is set up to make developers money rather than sensibly house people. I will say, the whole "15-minute city" thing is silly because literally you look at walkable cities versus my car-dependent city and they have more resource autonomy, individuals have MORE power, not less and they have way better qualities of life. Also, car-centric infrastructure is literally easier for the central government to control because you can only go where the gov't lays down roads and you have to spend all of your time driving to and fro for everything in life. My mom spends so much of her week behind a wheel and it is destroying her health and happiness, and we have no real freedom from the mechanisms we are forced to feed ourselves with. Now we are growing our own food so it takes some of the pressure off but I can say that just because they might sound more restrictive, based on my personal experience they give ordinary people more power over how they can spend their time and money rather than all of your extra cash becoming gas money. I hate centralised governments and big businesses who do that funny elite projection thing about how thy think society should function yet they are fundamentally out of tough with the needs of the layman. All they want for you is to buy another car and live in your single-family housing unit, complaining how everything that isn't an American-style suburbian house is "ruining the character of the neighborhood". I have lived in places like this and I guarantee you nothing is being ruined by designing a city based on how it can serve human beings and our needs rather than the modern development mechanism churning out properties for you to survive in, instead of designing settlements for people to live their best lives together. How do you ruin the character of a place where you spend most of your time alone and can't do anything without buying a car? Also how often do we think of how dystopian and odd it is that you need a piece of identification to have the ability to travel in a car-centric society and how it dictates many aspects of how you can live your life?
