Thank you so much for adding the myth of suicidal people wanting to die - my boyfriend's brother died by suicide and I've been trying to explain this to him but I think he thinks I'm making it up. I super appreciate your candor about depression and the like. Keep up the good work.
Are you kidding. Of course suicidal people want to die. They want their pain to end or they want something to end so they think that's the only way out. Selfish of them for sure. And yes I have experience and I'm also a psychology major.
@@sheilawiseman6167 As someone who was also a psychology major, lost a sister to suicide, and has survived at least one suicide attempt so far, I can assure you, not all suicidal people want to die. I had my attempt on my 24th birthday. I was terrified the entire time, and when the doctor(s) asked me why I wanted to die, I told them I didn’t, I just wanted all the shit to stop. I also don’t see it as that selfish of a thing (hear me out). My suicide attempt was years before I lost my sister, which I think is why I handled it better than my family. I’d been there. You have to remember that most people who attempt suicide don’t do it on a whim. I had been dealing with severe depression for years - my sister battled it for 8. I had convinced myself that nobody would miss me. Sure they’d be sad, but they’d get over it in like two weeks. Of course, having lost my sister, I know that’s not the case - you never get over it, you just learn to live with it. But moreover, I honestly believed that my loved ones wouldn’t want me to live with that kind of pain, and that if they went through what I was going through, they would understand. That’s one of the reasons I don’t have any anger toward my sister. I miss her every day, and I don’t know how she could think we’d be ok without her, but I completely understand not being able to live with the pain. Even now, I may not welcome death (for the most part), but I’m not afraid of it anymore, I’m just afraid of suffering.
Thanks for offering to help those with mental health issues. I could hear the sincerity in your voice. Sometimes just to hear someone say that we are special is uplifting. 💝
I was labeled "too serious" as a child but diagnosed with childhood depression as an adult. I remember not only crying frequently because I felt sad but my siblings thought it was hilarious to insult me because i would inevitably cry. I hated myself for being that way.
Back in 1972 I was 14 and was institutionalized in a private mental hospital in San Francisco for 6 weeks. I was on a children's and adolescents war. I saw children, maybe 5 or 6 years old, who had mental illness -- in some, schizophrenia -- who had been there for years and might be there most of their lives. I'm sure they were on high doses of medication. Therapy may have changed over the years, but not children's neuroses or psychoses.
I was diagnosed with autism when I was 13 or so; up until then, my parents struggled to learn exactly _how_ I was so different and not like other kids my age... I've been on medication almost my whole life, though, from the time I had seizures around age 1.5 to 2... Never had any since then, and only needed seizure medication for a short time; however, I did have ADD tendencies, so I've been put on different meds for that over the years. I still take meds to help me focus, as well as anti-anxiety ones... But since I was diagnosed, I've gotten a lot better help to manage my high-functioning autism... 😊 I have a lot of people in my life who are very supportive, including my parents and late paternal grandmother, so I consider myself very blessed... 🥰
The other day I was in a very bad place mentally I didn't feel like I was important enough to be here, I texted my boyfriend and he came right away. I cried on his shoulder for over an hour, I have never had anyone make me feel more loved and important than he did. Having someone that truly cares about you makes all the difference in the world.
About coffee: If you're spending hundreds a month on the stuff, maybe it's time to go for the cheaper option of brewing at home. Use Starbucks as a treat, not a daily drink

That whole suicide hotline, friend bit is essential. I have dissociative disorder and several years ago, my little one, who had threatened suicide, followed through. She tucked herself into bed to die, but then my other folks said "oh HELL no". Tried to vomit, called my husband. 911 came, tried to drink charcoal, and never, ever, once fell asleep as I should have during the night. The doc couldn't believe I was still awake, so thanks to my others for watching out for me.
great video mike!! Without you there is no list 25. I was wondering if you would do a list about tattoos? whether it's about actors and actresses with tattoos and how old they were when they first got them. Or the history behind tattoos. Just giving you an idea/suggestion. Because you are very good with this channel and I like how talkative and informative you are. Thank you again for another great video.
My brother started to show signs of anxiety and other issues around 2 yrs old. My mom could not get out of his sight 😭 but of course everyone said he was just spoiled.
I can tell you after working with thousands of preschool children that lice prefer fine and thin hair. I watched kids hug and play with each other and some would get lice while others didn’t.
One of hair dressers told me once that lice doesn't like blond hair...not sure if that is true, but neither of my kids ever got it, no matter how bad is shredding l spreading around the school...
@@Cypresssina it’s not a rule, just an observation. With a room of 25-30 children, the kids that lice liked were usually the squeaky clean thin haired children. I’m glad you never had to deal with that.🙂
I'm British and over 60, I worked, I have a state pension due to me, so no need to save, the State did that me, via my taxes. That said I'm good with money anyway. Even when I have loads of it, I rarely splash out, plus what I call a luxury, others might call cheap. I love a bargain, so even my coffee is a bargain. ❤ That thing about coffee and blood pressure, comes from the fact that some people are more sensitive to the caffeine, than others. It's a misinterpretation of their reactions to the caffeine. What really makes you fat is excessive bad fats and high levels of sugar, etc.... basically junk food, folks. Eat occasionally as a treat, not as your main diet. ❤
Thank you for talking about mental health and suicide. And putting the Crisis Line phone number in the video. Also another myth is that if you ask someone if they are thinking of suicide will make the person die by suicide. Asking them will not cause a person to die my suicide. So please ask the question if you are concerned about them.
I never heard the lightning one but emergency personnel that were family told me to never touch someone electrocuted by a hydro wire because the live wire could still be touching them or grounded to them, or if the ground is wet enough you could recieve shock. I wonder if thats true.
I had to use the crisis line to get me through a nasty panic attack once. I don’t know what I would’ve done that day if not for that magical three digit number. I was in a hotel room alone in a totally different state from the one I live in, and there was no getting help anywhere else. I know people say to focus on your breathing, and that kind of stuff when you panic, but for someone who’s main symptom is a heart that feels like it’s trying to literally slam through your chest, focusing on any sensations in that region are not good. I have always needed someone to talk me through them. It’s either that or they don’t calm down.
When I was a Peace Corps Volunteer in Romania during our training a local told one of my group mates that sitting on cold concrete would make her infertile.
My District Manager told me the other day that I," didn't have the correct attitude", because I told her that an envelope full of nosale recipes didn't have anything to do with me doing my job, so I just ignore it. When I told her I hadn't had enough coffee that day, she said was usually up at 4am. My alarm normally goes off at 7am. This was 6:30am. Yeah I'm a B**ch when I don't get enough sleep.
I believe you. But my doctor (PCP) literally just last month told me that my coffee just before my appointment with her was raising my blood pressure. 😕
I love these lists and mikes commentary is the best. Also what you said about self terminating and mental health…yes. You are never alone. And your life is valuable; you are valuable. Always
I spend about £3 a day enjoying a cup of coffee in town, whilst sitting and reading a chapter or two of my current book. Lots of people get through a pack of 20 cigarettes a day, costing them about £13. I can live with my coffee expenditure. It would probably cost me almost as much to stay at home and have the heating on for an extra couple of hours LOL.
When discussing the organic myth, you missed an important point: if all agriculture were to convert to organic practices, there would swiftly be a worldwide famine. There are reasons farmers & food-processors pay good money for those “artificial” chemicals- they work.
Queen Victoria, according to her last surviving granddaughter, claimed that she never said "We are not amused." (It was already a myth during her reign).
I remember in a village I used to live in the local post office was ran by a Chinese family and I believe they used to make their own fortune cookies and think up little fortunes and sell them for 10p each.
About Solar with barely as a home backup electrical system: I've been a boater for decades. One story I loved was a couple who had just spent a night fighting a hurricane at anchor, including motoring all night to ease the strain on the anchors, which was kinda draining. In the morning, after brewing throwing a few branches overboard and consuming their first cups of coffee, they got into their dingy and rowed into town: INTO town, which was still a few feet under water. Some days later, the town got power back, the shop owners shoveled as best they could, but the cruisers' life was pretty much undisturbed, except the had to arrange transport to the nearest supermarket to restock their food. Running off of solar-charged batteries for 3 or more days is pretty usual in a cruiser's life. I've been *thinking about installing solar cells and batteries with an industrial-grade AC (125-250v) inverter for the fridge and furnace because we have lost power, mostly during winter storms, for days, though the power company emergency workers, some of whom I know, are great at bringing outages back up with amazing alacrity.
The narrative that suicide is selfish and weak needs to change. People believe that their friends and family will be better off without them in their lives. And it takes a minute for pills to take affect, hanging takes several minutes and you don’t bleed out immediately. The dedication it takes to see it to the end denotes more strength than we usually consider.
No. 20 should be about electricity. if you touch someone that is getting shocked by an electric current, you can get stuck to them and then you both die. Not lightning it's about working with electricity.
I can certainly attest that children very much so can have severe mental health issues. My nephew was suicidal in the second grade. Thankfully he is still with us, unfortunately my sister did not carry one with his treatment, his younger sister also has severe mental health issues, and even with begging her mother to get herself help when she was in high school, my sister denied her access until the school conselor sent her for a 48 hour emergency hold. As soon as my sister was able to though she also stopped treatment for my niece. My niece turned to illegal self medicating, and my sister has the audacity to say her daughter has "made some bad choices". Thankfully my niece has moved to be closer to me and her grandmother and we are doing our best to help her. While we remain completely flabbergasted by my sister's actions. Please please please!!! If you have children, and they exhibit any signs of mental/emotional struggle, get them the help they need. The key word in mental illness is ILLNESS. It is no more shameful for your child to suffer with depression, than to suffer with strep throat or the common cold, hell cancer for that matter. The only shameful thing, is ignoring it, is calling it a "phase", a "cry for attention". The latter really speaking volumes on the kind of shit parent you are if your child thinks they have to go to the extremes of self-harm to get said attention trom you.
Thank you Mike and all at L25 for offering help to those in need! Love your videos and am a loyal supporter of everything you do! Keep up the good work! 😊
As a first responder I can say the Red Cross tells you that a sports drink is actually the best for you after a workout as well as heat exhaustion. This is followed by coconut water, then milk, and fourth is just plain water.
as someone who works in the estates department for a financial firm - getting a will or at least listing beneficiaries are important. thank you for including it on the list :)
A friend who was also a car dealer told us once that if you can afford to buy a car and pay cash, you will save the price of the car over time. And he was right...
Earthquakes can cause the soil to become unstable and liquefy. Look at the case of the famous pirate Hangout Island Port Royal. It had an earthquake that pretty much dissolved the land and turned it into a swamp that engulfed all of the major buildings of the town.
When you were talking about sports drinks and recommended drinking milk 🥛 you were spot on. I had an incident where I almost passed out on my way home from somewhere, and only my 14yr old nephew was home. I asked him if he would get me some water or something else to get me back my energy. He brought me a glass of milk 🥛 and I thought, " Oh God, I can't drink this. It's gonna make me sick." Well, not only didn't it make me sick almost instantly, it gave me a huge boost in energy. I told him that I would never doubt him again. He's a very smart young man.
Mike, I too, have been homeless. I got back from Iraq. I could not reintegrate. I was messed up. My mother had passed away. Now I make $225k a year. Hard work, a lot of luck, and some really good friends. Feels good.
Mike like a wise woman once said in a ministry i was involved in when I was younger..this lady said it takes 5 minutes to say something that'll ruin someones life and push them but it takes 5 mins to speak life to them and also takes 5 mins to save a life and what she meant was choose your words wisely and be a person that lifts people up with kindness and not one that tares them down with mean words ...and the cake quote is actually from a story about a french princess that was written when marie was like 8..and she was actually sympathetic to the poor to a point now her descendant Queen Victoria was more of the monarch with the let them eat cake attitude
When my Mom worked in an elementary school lunchroom, kids would toss their caps on a chest freezer while they ate. The lice problem was horrific! My daughter got them once & gave them to me! Someone had the bright idea of stopping that habit & infestations dropped significantly!
Be careful saying “When the neighborhood power goes out, your lights will stay on” on myth 15 busted. MANY residential solar arrays are grid tied and without battery back up or other extra equipment (System controller with NFT) your lights will go off when the rest of the neighborhood’s does too, even with solar on your roof. Grid tied solar needs to see the grid to continue to operate so during a power outage the solar array will stop working. Great reason to opt for the battery back up too!! 😉 Awesome lists! Keep it up!!
Toads cant give you warts, tho the cane toad can certainly kill a human, and definitely our beloved pets😢. As for children cant have mental illnesses!!! OMG! As a person who was placed on medication and sent to a psychiatrist from age 5 to 9!!!! My issues were purely inviromental, mostly a mother who didnt want me, she was cold and uncaring, a father who tried to over compensate. Now an adult suffering severe depression and apathy issues. So yeah, who ever spewed that bs, can go f themselves!.
You would have to eat or lick a cane toad to affect a person. I caught one yesterday and had to move it out of my mower path. Mowers aren't friendly to cane toads and make a mess. 😁
The thing about getting electrocuted by touching someone who's been hit by lightning has some basis. When someone has been electrocuted by a downed power line, touching that person really *could* electrocute you, if they're still in contact with the live power line.
When I was a kid, long ago and far away, older folks use to say that during a solar eclipse, homes burned to the ground and along with people! Imagine the panic we were in, when we witnessed our first eclipse! One girl had a seizure from shear terror... She was okay but this is the kind of thing folks can't put in kids heads! Like babies coming from cabbage patches; then an uncle who had seven kids, was fixing to harvest 18 cabbages! Oy!!!!😮
My sister-in-law is a nurse, and all her kids were very active in soccer as they were growing up. She always had chocolate milk in her fridge, because it was the best thing to rehydrate your body with. Sports drinks are ok, but go for the ones that say zero on the bottle. 😀👍
Mike I really have to say that you are one of the sweetest people I’ve ever seen! You’ve a good heart and a caring attitude! Your one person that I would love to have on my Christmas card list! Keep up the good work honey!🙏🏻👍🏻🥰😇🕊! Px
But milk does cause a glycemic reaction which causes your body to store fats so if you have eaten or drinking any type of dairy it may cause you to actually gain weight. It's not the fat in the middle it's the sugar in the milk
8:35 i ALWAYS choose sugar free Gatorade or the like, or I won’t drink it. That being said, I notice a significant difference in endurance when I use Gatorade over plain water, and is why I started bringing Gatorade to the gym in the first place. Milk during a workout would be far too heavy. Especially if I’m drinking enough to replace the liquids I’ve lost. I’d be quicker to throw up if I’m downing milk while working out.
My sweet, wonderful nephew Chris is schizophrenic, and my sister has given up on him and doesn’t even look for him when he goes off his meds, and I know from having had a boss with a schizophrenic wife that schizophrenics go off their meds at spectacularly high rates because the meds keep them “from feeling like themselves,” which is-in fact-what it’s supposed to do. And today is his 32nd birthday. I love you Chris, wherever you are.

My late husband, a lawyer, died without a will. It was a mess. We had to hire a court appointed private detective to prove he had no secret other wives or children hidden away, and my children had to testify in court that my husband and I were still married.
I have a weird tale involving lice. So, my step son would go to his grandmother's house and get lice. Would bring them home when we had no idea. No one else would get them. We tried everything on his hair before giving him the bad news that he would have to be shaved. No one else in the house ever got them. We'd clear them up and be done with it for a while, even though he sat on every surface others did. The next time he visited his grandmother, here we go again. We did numerous treatments and eventually had to cut his hair off. NO one else ever got lice. It was just him. I have no idea why. It happened year after year until we forbid him from going to his grandmother's house.
Yep I have bipolar and had first symptoms at age 8 but was overlooked as they said kids couldnt have bipolar so didnt get proper treatment until I was an adult.
If you are suicidal, please remember that the world is a better place with you in it. It may be rough today, but tomorrow is another day. My mom would tell you, the storms of today bring the beautiful rainbow of tomorrow. She and I found my sister who had chosen to check out early. 25 years later, devastation is still present today. You are beautiful. You are beloved. You are an amazing person. You are enough. ❤
if someone is suicidal usually they wont tell anybody they just do it, most of the time suicidal people just use the threat of suicide to get attention or someone to listen
When I was a teemager, I was deeply depressed and talked about suicide. My father, who was the cause of my depression, said people who talk about suicide don't do it. They're just looking for attention. ( Well, why not just give them attention? That sounds cheaply enough.) 😮My father talked about commuting suicide for months and even circled the date on the calendar, March 3rd, and then he did it on that day. So much for that.

Vapes do have their benefits; I used them to stop smoking 10 years ago. The NHS advice is that vaping is less harmful than smoking but not completely harmless. So unless you're already a smoker don't start vaping. When i went on the vape I figured that it can't be worse than smoking and it certainly smells better, i also started breathing better after about a week. I think that vaping is more regulated in the UK than in the USA though, i imagine that unregulated vape products or mods will be far more dangerous than regulated.

13 people agree with my comment so far.
My brother started to show signs of anxiety and other issues around 2 yrs old. My mom could not get out of his sight 😭 but of course everyone said he was just spoiled.
you Mike, are my favourite Utuber!!! Honest, entertaining, heartfelt, and just plain fun. And, of course, I learn something evertime I watch.
I love this list ❤. I knew most of them were wrong, but it was awesome hearing someone else say it. I hope you are having a great week, Mike. 😅😊❤😊
I have baby fine hair and I never had lice. Maybe I just got lucky lol
That thing about coffee and blood pressure, comes from the fact that some people are more sensitive to the caffeine, than others.
Yes
You have to do what a manager tells you to do:
Me: "Um, can I get that in writing?"
Yeah it isn't good for you and a waste of money. Sometimes he's wrong
11:40 Mike, as an attempt survivor and someone who lost his sister to suicide, I definitely appreciate your sentiment.
Thanks Mike, another great list. Although I did know some of them. 😊
Excellent!
The only thing I know is that Will can give you money, Bill would necessarily take it. LOL
Mike you make this world a better place with your life affirming messages, thank you!
Why thank you
I remember in a village I used to live in the local post office was ran by a Chinese family and I believe they used to make their own fortune cookies and think up little fortunes and sell them for 10p each.
Caffeine actually puts me to sleep and put me in the mellow mood
Mike....❤ Go see the Northern lights you will love it it is magnificent❤❤
No. 20 should be about electricity. if you touch someone that is getting shocked by an electric current, you can get stuck to them and then you both die. Not lightning it's about working with electricity.
On the coffee one : BS
If you pay $7.00 a day over a 50 year working life versus making it at home for a quarter, that’s $87,750 saved.
I have never thought that snakes were deaf. I never really thought about it at all.😂
Thank you Mike and all at L25 for offering help to those in need! Love your videos and am a loyal supporter of everything you do! Keep up the good work! 😊
I appreciate that!
I love your videos. Great job.
Glad you like them!
He's a very smart young man.
a new study shows that whole milk is better at hydrating than sports drinks. Makes sense!
Mike, I too, have been homeless. I got back from Iraq. I could not reintegrate. I was messed up. My mother had passed away. Now I make $225k a year. Hard work, a lot of luck, and some really good friends. Feels good.
I love watching your videos. You are so nice! 😊
Thank you so much!!
Thank you for what you do Mike, you have no idea how much you have gotten me through ❤.
When my Mom worked in an elementary school lunchroom, kids would toss their caps on a chest freezer while they ate. The lice problem was horrific! My daughter got them once & gave them to me! Someone had the bright idea of stopping that habit & infestations dropped significantly!
You're a very good person, Mike!
As a mental health sufferer, I used to believe asking for help was shameful, it's not
Be careful saying
“When the neighborhood power goes out, your lights will stay on”
on myth 15 busted.
Awesome lists!
Oy!!!!😮
Absolutely nobody thought dealers give you the best rate 😂
Mike,I knew I loved you for a reason! I have Mickey Mouse everywhere on everything😄❤😘
Px
Either you were drinking super weak coffee or you were actually drinking tea
Another fine list Mike!
The sun is actually green. Measurements of wavelengths have confirmed this
Um, no... That's an astronomical impossibility... Go check out Cool Worlds; he has a vid on why that's impossible, green stars, that is...
Absolutely sir you are correct when measuring the sun light it is infact green. 😊😊😊
I stopped going to Starbucks. I call it home bucks. 😂
I've had major depression most of my life. My dogs keep me going.
Oh wow serious respect to you Mike for being brave enough to say that
Really appreciate #13. Top 25 really is "on Top" of things. Good looking out
My sweet, wonderful nephew Chris is schizophrenic, and my sister has given up on him and doesn’t even look for him when he goes off his meds, and I know from having had a boss with a schizophrenic wife that schizophrenics go off their meds at spectacularly high rates because the meds keep them “from feeling like themselves,” which is-in fact-what it’s supposed to do. And today is his 32nd birthday. I love you Chris, wherever you are.
My son was killed by a schizophrenic who was off his meds. He killed my beautiful boy at 28 years old, just so he could watch someone die.

I’m so deeply, deeply sorry for this horrible wound that shall forever be a cancer on your psyche. How long has it been since that brutal day?
Japanese normally drink milk after being in the hot springs to help their body.
I lived in new port richey for a while and would go to the beach to watch the sunset. As it goes over the gulf the last color you see is green. I now live in west texas now. You should see the sun come up over a mountain. You will never forget it.
Awe I love you Mike! You have such a good heart! ❤️
❤
Thank you again….your series is amazing
Your a good man Mike i just found your channel and i Binged threw all of them it's kinda addictive 😅
That's a lot of videos lol
Coffee may not raise your blood pressure, but people definitely do.
if someone is suicidal usually they wont tell anybody they just do it, most of the time suicidal people just use the threat of suicide to get attention or someone to listen
@@azcowgal5837 Sorry to hear that!! but i said usually , that means there some do talk about ii but most dont
I love your videos and I really appreciate that extra moment for mental health ❤
I am an old ,very healthy lady. I truly think you are my favorite person on UA-cam. I really enjoy your sense of humor ,I also like the stuff you tell us about. Kep up the good work. Your old fan😊
10:49 from my personal experience, it's not a desire to die, it's a desire to not live in the pain we are feeling, just like you said.
Man, you are helping to restore my faith in you tube! You are a good man! Thank you!
