Darn tootin' - you can never have enough shells! And I suspect if you're going on a shell tour in the 10K islands you will likely end up on Dickmans, Kice or possibly even both!
Great exploration there and lots of neat shells to find. I think it is amazing that the beaches there, even on the sand bars, there is so much seashells to find. Beautiful place there. Love seeing what you find. Looking forward to your next video.

@@gingermackeen5741 Oh this played a huge roll in my night shelling that I'll share this coming Sunday. Man I wish it wasn't a 3 hour drive up there!!!
I really enjoyed watching your trip out shelling these past two videos. I’m headed out this morning to my area beach, Stump Pass on Manasota Key. I’m hoping I’ll find some goodies. Until next week, happy shelling!
How is the shelling over there? I want to go to Gasparilla Island State Park to check out the beach and shelling but would be willing to check out Stump Pass too (it seems closer) if you think it would be worth a trip. Thank you so much for watching and I hope you find lots of goodies today!
@@SWFBeachLife our shelling changes so much. One day there are tons of shells and the next day there are not so many. Its kind of a guessing game sometimes. But when I do find shells I find some good ones.
Wow! What an amazing group of treasures! I find a ton of shark eyes in NJ, but boy those gaudy nauticas are special. I'd be over the moon if I ever found one of those here!
Oh me too! I do remember one year when we were finding those type of shark eye shells up in NJ at Island Beach State Park, my old home beach. It was the first and only time that happened. I wish I had saved one or two of them so I would know exactly what type of shell it was. I'm making up for a lot of lost shelling time now that I'm here in FL! Thank you so much for watching!
Great finds yet again! Happy to help with the ribbed cantharus, they are tough. Great piece of rose murex! They sure are elusive. I've only found a broken one. All those top snails are awesome! I always have a hard time with them, but always love seeing them anywhere and the cool colors they come in.
And now I think ribbed cantharus is my favorite shell. I went through my shell collection getting rid of some shells and cleaning things and found 2 more ribbed cantharus shells. NOW I know them :) It only took me year! LOL!
Thank you so much for these amazing shelling trips you take us on. I am learning names of shells I have, and also shells new to me. I have several of the spiny jewel box and did not know the name of that shell. I love it. I also love the tiny orange with white tip horse conch. I really want to find one. I go to North Carolina beaches and have not found one yet. Do you mind to tell me what your watch is with that awesome band. Thank you so much. I really look forward to seeing your videos on Sunday. What a great adventure you shared with us! Kice Island sure is beautiful! I love all the trees just sticking up from the water, beautiful, spooky and dangerous all at the same time and that live spiny jewel box! Never have i seen a live one before, wish he would have gave us a glimpse tho lol Thanks for another great beach walk!
The other live jewel box I found was in Marco Island. They look all gummy and weird. It's so cool! Kice island was all you said: spooky, beautiful and dangerous if you don't watch where you're going! It was SUCH a fun day. Next week we're trying night shelling!
@@tinkertailor3115 There are little stumps poking up from the ground everywhere and if you're not careful you'll definitely give yourself a broken toe. You HAVE to wear shoes between the stumps and shells. Dangerous might be a bit of an exaggeration. Maybe slightly hazardous would be a better description - LOL!
Shelling in Virginia Beach is slow and I mostly find shark eyes, it’s still fun for me, but I really enjoy watching your videos and seeing what you find. I hope to plan a trip up there soon 😊
It's so pretty down here!!! And I don't know about you, but I remember when I first started walking the beaches down here and finding all the gorgeous shells I thought I had died and went to heaven. I now know what I'm finding but I'm still amazed at the shells that are just sitting on the beach waiting to be found. I hope you do make it down here and find incredible treasures!
i spotted what must have been the outer ring of an upside down clam type shell, and i had to go back and look again, wondering if it were an actual ring that your keen eyes had missed. this set me off wondering: have you ever found some unexpected treasures, such as real rings, coins, etc while shelling? do you have a collection of interesting non-sea shell related items? i'd love to see and hear about such finds! thanks for taking us along on your hunt!
My husband has a metal detector and he's found a few coins but we haven't found anything really awesome to speak of while we've been shelling. I mostly find garbage or maybe an old tin can. My husband found a pull tab from a soda can from the 80's but he gave it away so unfortunately I don't have a non-sea related collection. I'll be sure to share if we do find anything interesting!
My hubby and I took a shelling tour with Treasure Seekers for our anniversary in January of 2020 (right before it seemed like the world shut down), and I am so thankful for those memories. We have vacationed to Sanibel one to two times a year for the past 9 years. Now that we have seen your kayaking video, we are in LOVE with the idea of kayaking around Kice and Dickman's. Did you rent the kayaks? We have kayaked on Sanibel and wondered if you could rent for more than a couple of hours. This trip looked like it took all day - what a glorious day!! I enjoy your videos so much.
My friend rented kayaks for the week from Florida Adventures. They dropped them off at the marina we left from in Marco and she rented a truck for the week that she was here to get them around. Florida Adventures was fantastic. I do not know of any long term kayak rentals this way (Fort Myers/Sanibel) unfortunately, but maybe Florida Adventures can rent them to you for the day. I met my friend at the marina at 6:45am so it was indeed an all day adventure :) I wanted to check out Dickman's so I'm just going to have to go back! I took a shell tour too March 2020 (got to see the Romano dome homes - so cool) and was sure glad I snuck that in before the world shut down!
Florida Adventure and Rentals rents for the day or multiple days. You can either pick have them meet you at the marina or you can pick them up from their storage location.
Such an awesome day, I know this one was a few years ago but my husband and I are going to go on this kayaking adventure and I’m super excited! I know I’ve watched so many of your videos and can’t remember which one you had a link to good water shoes ?
I have my "everyday" beach shoes that I need to replace every 6-9 months or so: amzn.to/3wIwanv and then I have a pair that is a little studier that I like to wear on Kice, but you have to wear socks with them: amzn.to/47RtNRR I've yet to find the perfect pair!!
I wanted to ask a question.. do you base your shell adventures on from what way the wind blows onto a specific beach ...years ago now 20 something I moved to Suffolk UK 🇬🇧.. and a very small beach area on the mouth of the river deben there were thousands of ,cowrie, shells washed up ... now they have never appeared since then!!! They were all about the size of your finger nails.. I can only presume it was a storm out in the baltics at some stage and currents bought them the thousands of miles .. I really don't know the location of the ,,cowrie, critters, but it was amazing to see what I feel was ,tropical, shells on the beach .. .
That must have been really awesome to see all those cowries! I have yet to find one myself (came close but it was a trivia, not a cowrie) but I'm hoping to get some for myself one of these days. I choose where I'm going to go by the tides and what beach I haven't been to in a while. If neither of those work in my favor I just go where I feel like going early to beat the crowds and summer heat! There is no real rhyme or reason for why I go where I do other than I'm hoping I'll be able to show you some pretty beaches and I'm able to find some neat things to share :)
I so want to go back to Kice Island! Really enjoyed seeing it again. Can’t believe how many gaudy nauticas you found! I know you don’t like to carry a lot of fighting conch but did you see a lot of them there? I only saw a few in your video. They were EVERYWHERE when I was there. Had to leave so many. Thanks for sharing!
I LOVE those FFCs! I suspect I would have at least looked at them if I came across them. Some are really, really pretty - like the ones I recently found in Marco Island were a gorgeous chocolate brown color. I just love them! It's hard when I come across them early because I know I'll be hauling them around all day but if I find them on the way off the beach they're likely going to be added to my collection!
You're right -- absolutely beautiful. What a delight it must have been! Are there *literally* ten thousand islands?? (Guess I could google it, couldn't I?!)
There's actually closer to 40,000 islands! It's such a cool place with all the mangrove islands all over. I couldn't have asked for a more perfect day. The weather, company and places we went were perfect! Thanks for coming along!!!
I have been shelling on the medreian sea shore i have a shell that was broke and i made a necklace out of it my sister inlaw brother fort Myers fl but i have never been down that far.
My husband likes to make jewelry from the broken shells too! It's really beautiful down here in Southwest Florida. I think anyone that can manage it should come for a visit :)
Fantastic!!!! I am always anxious for each new video. Such Awsome finds. I would be there all day picking up a little bit of everything. I totally love your videos. I really doubt I’ll ever get to Florida and that is why I love your videos so much. Do you have an Etsy store? I buy from there a lot. If you don’t have one, I sure hope you do open one. Thank you again for a fantastic video and please be safe. You are Blessed my friend.💖🐟🦐🐚🌞
Hello beach friend! I did have an Etsy store for a minute and decided it wasn't for us. I sell the shells (as you know) but anything else I was going to sell I'd probably do from my website. If I decide to make a frame or mirror to sell I will definitely post something about it to let you know!
What a great adventure you had! The purple shell is incredible. Do you and/or Mr. SWF fly a drone to get the aerial shots? It was so nice to see the islands from that perspective. Have a great week and thanks for an incredible beach walk.
It was SUCH a fun adventure :) Yes, I have a drone so I fly that anytime you see the drone shots. I knew I was going to want to see those island from above too so I took my drone with me on the kayak! Thanks so much for watching my beach adventure!
I bought a UV light based on Paleo Chris' recommendation and have tried this with a few different alphabet cones. It doesn't work. I believe the shell needs to be fossilized. I do have a fossilized shell and a few tiny little spots light up. I'm hoping to find a really good glowing one eventually!
Spent the day at the beach today and this video is a great way to end my day 🌈💫 would you mind me asking what type of camera you use on your adventures?
Aren't beach days the best? I use a few different cameras. My phone, my GoPro and my drone depending on what I'm trying to shoot :) I'm glad I was able to bring you back to the beach last night :) Thank you so much for watching!
That should take up room in another jar for your collection :) Now when you clean these do you bleach all of them? or is there another process you do to to bring out the color and shine and clean off say all the barnicles...I havent seen anything on that in any of your videos how you clean but I did see you ,, I think you bleached a florida fighting conch to get some gunk off of it at the end of one of your videos, just currious what you do and you go about deciding who needs what type of cleaning.
I am going to put a whole video together on how to clean shells. Some need bleach, others need acid. Some could use some help with oil and some need a bit of scraping. I'm going to start putting some rough shells to the side so I can put a whole video together. I choose how to clean it depending on the type of shell and type of gunk!
Yes, I have tried a whole bunch of beaches on Sanibel and have probably walked hundreds of miles on the beaches over there. I love Sanibel - it's beautiful!
I've never found a live cone. Most of the live critters you'll find are in the water. If you see it on the beach, it's most likely totally fine to pick up! I pick up every single one I find and have yet to find a live one.
Hi Sharman! I was wondering where you rented kayaks from on this trip? Did you have to book in advance? Any info would be helpful. Planning a trip next month. Thank you🤗🐚🐚🐚
My girlfriend was visiting the area from out of town and she rented the kayaks from Florida Adventures for the week. The arrangements were made in advance. Florida Adventures dropped the kayaks off at Caxambus Park Marina the morning we went out kayaking. Florida Adventures were wonderful to work with, but I didn't make any of the arrangements. I would definitely recommend them though!
I get asked that question a lot!! I show at the end of this video some of the things we've done with shells: ua-cam.com/video/d7SmDUcvdjU/v-deo.html And then in this video, I finally got around to making a shell mirror I had been wanting to make: ua-cam.com/video/Mf5SVm8m5n8/v-deo.html I have a few more projects I'd like to tackle - i just need to find the time!!!
Hi Salma - I have never found a knobbed whelk! I think those shells tend to be found in the Carolina's but they don't seem to make it down here to SW Florida.
Not really. I find glass pieces, but it's really more garbage than anything I'd want to collect. I think maybe we've found one or two decent pieces but that's it!
Yeah, I looks at the haul and said, “We’re going to need a bigger boat.” LOL! Luckily it really was quite a large kayak and we had no problems paddling our haul back to shore. 🐚☺️
I see them near the pond where I live, but I've never seen them on the beach or near the beach. There are a couple of parks with lakes that I have seen them in too. They're definitely down here!

Thank you SO much! Every time I picked my head up I couldn't believe how gorgeous the surroundings were. Plus all the shells were a total bonus! Thanks so much for coming along with me!
Hi! Purple scallop love! Thanks for sharing the beauty!
That color was too much! Thank you for watching!
Great additions to the collection ! The purple one just exploded with color ! Thanks for" taking" me along has a nice time !! Looking forward to the next adventure !
Thank you so much for watching!
You have me soooo excited for my boat tour to go shelling in a cpl weeks!! I appreciate the passion and the EDU about the shells! I have so many in my collection from tigertail Beach and Sanibel but you can never have enough beautiful unique shells. So glad I found your video! Can't wait to get to the 10000 Islands! Hopefully we go to this exact island!! 😍😍😍😍
Darn tootin' - you can never have enough shells! And I suspect if you're going on a shell tour in the 10K islands you will likely end up on Dickmans, Kice or possibly even both!
When the tree roots are out of the water, it reminds me of Disney's Fantastia movie. The tree is just going to walk away!
That would be great if they could walk around and help me find shells! 😅
Great shelling day! Love the purple scallop! I hope to take a shelling tour there sometime. Thanks for your videos, I love them!
Thank you so much! I hope you do get to go on a shelling tour out there. The Romano dome homes are pretty neat too!
Great exploration there and lots of neat shells to find. I think it is amazing that the beaches there, even on the sand bars, there is so much seashells to find. Beautiful place there. Love seeing what you find. Looking forward to your next video.
It is truly so beautiful down here and there are so many islands and waterways to explore. I love it here and I'm so grateful I can share it with others! Thanks for coming along with me again Sally!
What a wonderful trip....shells r spectacular and u r just getting better all the time with your tours....would love to visit these places...so much fun...Thank you beach friend 😌
Janet you are so very welcome! There are so many exciting beaches and places to go explore!
Wonderful day. I love your video's
Thank you so much! 🤗
Thank you for sharing part two of the video I sure enjoy your videos so much here in San Jose California watching ❤️🐚🐚🐚🙋🏻♀️
I was born in Anaheim so I was a California girl but I ended up on the other coast :) Thanks so much for watching my beach adventures!
Super video! I applauded for $10.00 👏👏👏
Wow, thank you SO much! I really appreciate it!!
Those moon snails are beautiful
They really are :)
@@SWFBeachLife Idk if you remember, but I told you I was coming down to Sanibel with my kids for 2 weeks. We're coming down from June 12 - 26th. Staying at Loggerhead Cay...
@@MiMi-og4wx 2 weeks on Sanibel sounds amazing! Plus it's quieter down here that time of year. I hope you have fun planning and find tons of great things while you're here!

Im Japanese and there is no sea in the prefecture where I live, so Im really enjoying your video🥰 I hope I visit to there some day!
Its been difficult situation all over the world now, so stay helthy and enjoy shelling🧡
Thank you so much for watching! I hope you get to come here for a visit one day too. I wish we all could just forget all the negative things in the world and all go to the beach together. I hope you stay safe and healthy too. ❤️❤️🐚🐚
Wow, what a fabulous day trip! I bet it won’t be long before you go kayaking again. I loved that Florida Cone with the bent tip, lol. As always, it was fun tagging along with you.
My new obsession is getting a kayak - LOL! Thank you so much for coming along with me on my trip!
Great finds that rose murex wowi!!! You looked liked you had a lot of fun!!!🌊👍🏻💙

Thanks for sharing your beautiful Adventures. I'm definitely renting a kayak when I'm there in May.🏝🛶🐚🐬🤗
YAY! Please check the tides and winds. There are times when you can't get out there if the winds are too high so just be careful! Thank you for watching and happy planning for your trip down!
No apologies for that gorgeous lace murex needed. Beautiful ribbed cantharis and that's the brightest ypc I've ever seen! Guess you'll have to come up here for cloudy periwinkles too... Beautiful gaudys! And very pretty complete cardita! Also some of those apple murexes were stunning! I couldn't believe the purple on that scallop!!! Hope you had lots of sun screen with you being out there so long.☺️ Happy you had so much fun! I was almost in your neck of the woods Sunday, but the trip fell through.xxoo
YAY! So I can get chestnut turbans and cloudy periwinkles? Do I need to pay attention to the tides or just get up there early?
@@SWFBeachLife Well it's definitely easier to walk up to the end at low tide because of all the erosion (similar to the video Sun).
@@gingermackeen5741 Oh this played a huge roll in my night shelling that I'll share this coming Sunday. Man I wish it wasn't a 3 hour drive up there!!!
Another awesome shelling adventure. Thank you.
Thank you for watching!
Yay , I finally found this video , i was so looking for to watching . Not sure why it was so changeling ;)
Hope you enjoyed it!
Wonderful video...thanks for taking me along! Looking forward to next week!
Thank you so much! I hope you have a good week beach friend! xoxo
LOL!
13:21 passed a huge olive! And it was really darj
Have a Blessed week.
Oh I'm so glad you're learning what some of your collection is! I don't know why I need to know the names of the shells I find but I do and I like sharing :) I wear a FitBit which was a gift from my BFF and the band I bought on Amazon that was a gift from my mother. I can bring my friends and family along with me when I'm shelling - LOL! Thank you so much for watching my beach adventures!
I would love to see you she’ll crafts and how you display all of your shells!

@@SWFBeachLife night shelling, spooky as well! Can’t wait to see that!
@@SWFBeachLife Hmm, intriguing ... dangerous how?
@@tinkertailor3115 There are little stumps poking up from the ground everywhere and if you're not careful you'll definitely give yourself a broken toe. You HAVE to wear shoes between the stumps and shells. Dangerous might be a bit of an exaggeration. Maybe slightly hazardous would be a better description - LOL!
@@SWFBeachLife Well, yes, that would definitely smart!

Thanks so much! Hope you like my future content!
I met my friend at the marina at 6:45am so it was indeed an all day adventure :)
I wanted to check out Dickman's so I'm just going to have to go back!
@@samanthabright5393 They were awesome!
I would love to have some of all color scallops
Such an awesome day, I know this one was a few years ago but my husband and I are going to go on this kayaking adventure and I’m super excited! I know I’ve watched so many of your videos and can’t remember which one you had a link to good water shoes ?
I have my "everyday" beach shoes that I need to replace every 6-9 months or so: amzn.to/3wIwanv and then I have a pair that is a little studier that I like to wear on Kice, but you have to wear socks with them: amzn.to/47RtNRR
I've yet to find the perfect pair!!
Niiiiiice!
@@SWFBeachLife Well that certainly sounds more impressive -- perhaps they should rename it!

Wow
Windy rainy snd cold here.
I'm so sorry! I hope the video helped bring a little bit of beach to you.
Thanks so much for watching my beach adventure!
alphabet cones glow under uv light, its really cool lookin love
Do you ever shell on Sanibel island? We go there a lot!
Yes, I have tried a whole bunch of beaches on Sanibel and have probably walked hundreds of miles on the beaches over there. I love Sanibel - it's beautiful!
I would love to find the cone snails but I am afraid to pick them up if I don’t know if they are empty.
I've never found a live cone. Most of the live critters you'll find are in the water. If you see it on the beach, it's most likely totally fine to pick up! I pick up every single one I find and have yet to find a live one.
Yay yay!!

I show at the end of this video some of the things we've done with shells: ua-cam.com/video/d7SmDUcvdjU/v-deo.html
And then in this video, I finally got around to making a shell mirror I had been wanting to make: ua-cam.com/video/Mf5SVm8m5n8/v-deo.html

@@SWFBeachLife they are all beautiful but favorite was the olive bracelet.. Awesome!
Hi Sharmon, do you find knobbed whelks all that often?
Hi Salma - I have never found a knobbed whelk! I think those shells tend to be found in the Carolina's but they don't seem to make it down here to SW Florida.
Ohh okay.
I want to go! Where do you put in?
The closest marina is Caxambus Marina in Marco Island ☺️
Do you ever find seaglass?
Not really. I find glass pieces, but it's really more garbage than anything I'd want to collect. I think maybe we've found one or two decent pieces but that's it!
Miss little turtle
How low was your kayak sitting in the water from the weight of your shell haul? Lol!
Yeah, I looks at the haul and said, “We’re going to need a bigger boat.” LOL! Luckily it really was quite a large kayak and we had no problems paddling our haul back to shore. 🐚☺️
I'd have a fantastic day there looking for sharks teeth. They are black small I have to sort through shell's.
I've never found a shark's tooth down here. I had to travel up to Venice to find them! That was really fun too.
Do you ever see alligators?
I see them near the pond where I live, but I've never seen them on the beach or near the beach. There are a couple of parks with lakes that I have seen them in too. They're definitely down here!
