I'm convinced the origin of this song centered around the composer(s) saying to themselves..."How can we take the same lyrics and musically give them a different feel over and over". You basically get the same lyrics in 3 different "feels" Celestial, Intense, Sexual. Words stay the same throughout....how they are delivered changes from beginning to end.
@@robdaniel3211It’s what I noticed when I heard this the first time as well and I think this extremely skilled variety is what is getting everyones attention :)
As a 'musician', I can tell you for a fact that this thought process during the writing process absolutely happens. Often. In fact, it's all just a big experiment, really.
except they use pre-recorded vocal backing tracks for more than half of the live vocals, huge letdown, they use backing tracks for the other instruments too, really lame
@HaroldBallz as does just about every band nowadays. That's how music is now. Also with the amount of layering that Sleep Token does, they absolutely have to use backing tracks. His voice is layered at least 3 times in most of their songs.
I tend to think of the word "amazing" as overused like Louis CK said, but in this case, it's underused. Sleep Token is breaking it all apart, like Korn did 30 years ago. Hell yes.
This whole album seems to be an experiment in "leave them wanting more." Fade outs, quick cut aways, parts of the song that are gone just a bit before you want them to be. I think they are playing into the longing and feeling of missing something or someone, making the audience feel a similar emotion as the lyrics are suggesting.
I'm happy that you got to Sleep Token, Ken! And I think you'd also enjoy Take Me Back to Eden and/or Ascensionism. Both songs are also from their latest album and are really diverse and vocally intense.
Sleep Token have a lot of great great songs, like Granite, Chokehold, The offering, Jaws, Thread the needle, Blood sport, Hypnosis, Alkaline,... they are so good.
Vessel very much leans into his breaths with his vocals. It’s so much more apparent in their song Hypnosis. The breaths in that song are EVERYTHING!! More on the exhale than the inhale
Im loving all sleep tokens song. His voice is like no other ive ever heard. Blood Sport from the room below shows his voice in such a beautifully emotional way, theres no way not to feel it. 😢
Vessel's voice is soooooo good. I think he defaults to his shaky falsetto a bit too much in live performances but i let it slide cus his tone and lower/mid register is too good 😊
I honestly thought u were Corey Taylor and clicked on the video lol. Besides the confusion, I liked your review and attitude. Keep listening to Sleep Token and making good videos bro
The Summoning. In the context of their body of work. The main part of the song is the toxic relationship. It’s the cycle of abuse. The ending is just the good part in the cycle. So they have to go through hell to get to the good part.
You - "Are you going to take us back to the beginning or are you taking us to a different time zone/country?" (paraphrased) Sleep Token - "Yes." The last batch of lyrics are borrowed from earlier in the song while it's a completely different musical landscape. You might really love their song "The Love You Want" from their previous record. It's a FANTASTIC song with a really smart bunch of arrangement choices. It starts somewhere. It ends somewhere. And - my word - it's a journey between those two points. Plus it's a GREAT music video (that isn't just some character on screen - you get to see the vocalist and the video I think speaks to the song but also a much larger theme within the Sleep Token world). I think I'm definitely going to skip all of the initial payoffs in your videos the way you completely skipped the first chorus on this song, though!
I cant listen to this anymore as someone said he sounds like hes singing with peanut butter stuck to the roof of his mouth... i laughed a lot, cant listen to it again
If you want to hear something completely different from the front singer. Sort of where he comes from. His first band ( I am pretty sure it was his first at least ) Is blacklit canopy. its completely different. But you can really hear Leo still has the same tone in the singing. Even though its years apart and two very different projects.
Ken, you totally cracked me up with this reaction -- well, not the reaction per se because I like how you get into the music -- but your funny one-liners. Yeah, Sleep Token is a trip everyone seems to want to take lately.

Similarly happens in Take Me Back To Eden where the chorus is sung 3 times, but each time in a different style/genre of musicality behind it.

Ever since this song came out, The Summoning reactions are my new favorite YT subgenre 😊

You should never expect anything with Sleep Token 😂 they’re amazing 🖤

They did bring us back to the beginning.
The ending verse is the beginning verse :) (lyrically)

Vore and Chokehold are amazing
@@rafaelxxx8434 100%. It's hard to pick a single song haha

Ascensionism, aqua regia.
Gods
Basically full discography
The raw energy and passion in their performance is palpable.
I am loving your fluidity and meshing you're doing with metal over time. Keep on keeping on. 🤘🏻
Sleep Token is unpredictable, in a beutiful way 😍
Vessel very much leans into his breaths with his vocals. It’s so much more apparent in their song Hypnosis. The breaths in that song are EVERYTHING!! More on the exhale than the inhale
My favorite reaction quote about this song is when someone said “How many songs are in this song??!”
Take Me Back To Eden, Ascensionism, Granite, and Are You Really Okay. Love these guys! It makes music so exciting again!
He needs to react to all these.
Im loving all sleep tokens song. His voice is like no other ive ever heard. Blood Sport from the room below shows his voice in such a beautifully emotional way, theres no way not to feel it. 😢
Nothing can top the Unplugged Piano Version of Bloodsport....Vessel's Best Performance ever !
What a lot of people don't realize when trying to understand this song, is that its actually a sequel. The first part is "The Offering"
I think you would really love their song - Take Me Back To Eden.
The ending reminds me of something you would here on 50 shades of grey😂😂
Retro Progressive is spot on 😄
An interesting band, only gotten into them recently, but they're interesting!
Take Aim and Levitate 😍😍
“And I was totally wrong...retro-progressive” love it Ken.
Vessel's voice is soooooo good. I think he defaults to his shaky falsetto a bit too much in live performances but i let it slide cus his tone and lower/mid register is too good 😊
Never heard of Sleep Token, looks like I have to look into them. I’m feeling a bit of Opeth, too…..
I would love to see you dive into them. If you want an incredible vocal performance, I recommend Blood Sport (from the room below).
Vessel leaves 100% of his emotion in his songs. It's a huge part of why he's special.
Levitate is one of my favorite songs from Sleep Token. Its so beautiful 🖤
I'm addicted to their music. It's like a sonic drug 😍
This song threw me for a loop the first time I heard it. It still kind of does with all the style changes throughout.
After you go down the Sleep Token rabbit hole, go down the Bad Omens one next.
Muse live in Rome. Astonishing Matt Bellamy. I love the way he reaches the highest not
I believe that the chord being played at 8:15 is a diminished of some brand that sounds particularly atonal because of the effects.
Agree, it kinda gives me Reese Bass vibes, in the way it's built the synth sound I mean
You should check out the band Bad Omens, they're definitely worth it. Start with The Death of Peace of Mind, The Grey or Just Pretend.
Should do a full album reaction of TMBTE by Sleep Token.
4:50 it's illegal to pause at guitar solos 😂
I honestly thought u were Corey Taylor and clicked on the video lol. Besides the confusion, I liked your review and attitude. Keep listening to Sleep Token and making good videos bro
Love this song and album

Goosebumps from start to finish!
How about taking that epicness to October Ends' "Dark"? Nick Thurl's vocals would be a perfect fit! 🌟
Your videos are so awesome, man!!
Sleep Token very much is Tool 2.0🔥🤘🏼
I love this song bro!
i think you'd really like the whole album. idk if you have heard or done the title track "take me back to eden" yet, but its a masterpiece
You need to react to more sleep token!!

You should listen to "The Way We Were" by Sleep Token. Ghostly beautiful
Blood sport, from the room below .

The Token gives, and the Token taketh away. You wanted more, but we're going over here now. Follow if you can.😂

Hey hey Ken, have you done a reaction to Diggy Diggy Hole? If not, you should!
Omg 😂 my husband infects my brain with that song on a regular basis!
Thanks a lot
This band rocks so hard! I also think Nick Thurl's new song is mindlowing! React to it, you won't be disappointed 🔥
Finally!!!
Wait until you get to take me back to eden.
I always thought that was a cello in the corner but with the guitar next to it it looks like something bigger. Anyway good analysis.
The absolute shocker is that The Summoning is in 4/4
Would love to see you react on end up dead by Nick Thurl
Thanks
4/4 all the way : )
I'm headbanging like a bobblehead on steroids 🤘 Please reacto to Nick Thurl end up dead

Its actually 4/4 with an extra odd bar in the phrase.
Retro Progressive...
Regressive?
Unspoiled By Progress 👌🏻
every single one of their songs are different genres - heads up if you go down the rabbit hole
You - "Are you going to take us back to the beginning or are you taking us to a different time zone/country?" (paraphrased)
Sleep Token - "Yes."

Isn't The Summoning all in 4/4 lol
Are you related to Avril Lavigne?
I was JUST going to say it reminds me of Tool
2 bars of 6/8, one bar of 2/4, I think?
I'm with you on lingering a little longer on the heavier sections. 👍
yet another vocal coach not noticing an overtone during the first scream.
haha
I really liked some of the elements of the song especially his voice, but overall it was too juxtaposed for me.
If you want to hear something completely different from the front singer.

its completely different. But you can really hear Leo still has the same tone in the singing. Even though its years apart and two very different projects.
Reaction videos should not pause, it ruins the flow. Use text or images to comment, do not cut the audio.
