    "I feel a great sense of having a purposeful life, and I'm very very fortunate to be a part of that." - Master Chief Paul Tharp
    That right there is one of the reasons why I want to become a SEAL and go through the hellish training pipeline. I want to be an old man one day, and know that I lived a life that not to many people get to live. A life of adventure and risk. Serving the best country in the world. That's what I want, and I'm going to fight to the death to achieve that goal. Let's get that SEAL contract!

    When I served I was once in a rag outfit at NAS Jax and knew a AO (SEAL). he was newly checked in but assigned to be with the AWs. His rocker said Seal Team 2 and I never asked him what he was doing with AWs, because I was an AO also but figured it was none of my business. He was a second class, anyway we had the PT test one time and we usually would run at a place the squadron had reserved which was called perimeter road, it's basically a road that circles the whole base but it was shut down due to construction. So we had to use the flight line before flight ops started later that morning. This guy just played with everyone, he was in last place looking like he was struggling and all of a sudden he just took off, shattered the squadron record the first time he ran it and he wasn't even breathing hard when he stopped.

      @aayanahmad1001 Рік тому

      @@darktoadone5068 it's a little exaggerated, ofc. Seals ARE phenomenally fit. The guys in DEVGRU even more so. Is this story possible? Yes. Plausible, even. Perhaps even probable. Thing is, not all seals hold themselves to the same fitness standards, or even the same kind of fitness standards. Some are wiry lean and can run for days. Some get big and burly and justification is you need to be strong to haul all your gear up the rope from the side of the ship. Does the wiry guy not haul up the same gear while being small? I'm not saying most seals. Only some.

    Its not the bullets, its the mechanics of the firearm itself. The military can afford exceptional firearms that can function perfectly even after being submerged. Earlier firearms cant do this; the rounds simply fire into frame and the chamber exploads.

    Caveat.
    By all means, get out there, train hard, push your boundaries, leave the ordinary mortals behind, repeat and repeat, you feel invincible.
    One day, your body WILL start to fail you, little by little, more and more, twinge becomes niggle becomes ache becomes pain becomes failure.
    The day WILL come when your body can't do it anymore but your mind wants to.

    Master Chief
    What are your feelings for using a combat swimmer stroke in triathlons? Is it less efficient or impractical? I’ve never learned the stroke and in a snake swim it definitely would be a bad idea I feel.... but in an open water swim I was wondering if it is worth putting the time in to learn? I’ve done ironman and do about 8 triathlons a year.
    43 years old.
    Thanks

    • @franciscogaray2530
      @franciscogaray2530 Рік тому

      I'm definitely not as experienced in ironmans as you nor have the swimming capability of Paul Tharp, that dude is a beast, but the main point of CSS strokes is to reduce body profile, splash and to be a more stealthy, less visible/noise way to swim. It's a great recovery stroke tho. But I doubt that it can compare to the sheer speed of freestyle in those events... But it still is a great swim stroke to learn. I'm a certified lifeguard instructor in Brazil and I always teach CSS to more intermediate swimmers, and sidestroke in general in my opinion is the most versatile/helpful stroke in survival situations. Cheers and sorry for the late reply.

    @strawberrrys Well, until recently you must have served I think it was 2 years in the Marines before you could even try out for a Recon Billet. And the length of the training for MARSOC (Marine Special Operations School) is I think 7 months, for all the skills needed. However that time goes up depending on what other A schools the Marine attends.
