  • FISSILE | RMC T-Rex Concept and Features Showcase
    Featured on this Model:
    Single Rail - 2x2 Seating - Fast Lift - Mild LSM Launch - Unique Inversions - 90 Degree Drop - Strong Sustained Airtime - Strong Sustained Normal G Elements - Attractive and Wear Resistant Finish Options
    -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
    Design Prompt:
    After reports expressing that the teased RMC T-REX model line would have too high of manufacturing costs, the "Giga or taller" speculations are now positively inaccurate.
    RMC may be reevaluating the design and engineering of the track, train and structural aspects of the T-REX model to mitigate costs and bring down the price of a total package.
    Rather than waste design and engineering hours spent, RMC is reorienting the scope of the ride experience and downscaling the ultimate size, speed and height parameters until core engineering improvements are made to the rail design or manufacturing process.
    -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
    Design Statement, Goals, Details, and Explanations:
    The point of this project was to scrap the existing common conceptions of the initial T-Rex Giga or Taller rumors, and attempt to reevaluate the possibilities of the future-bound TREX model line, and redefine the model in the scope of a more tangible and realistic setup (packaged as a concept-features showcase).
    FISSILE is purposely placed on multiple Z-Planes, done to demonstrate how RMC could utilize tougher terrain and utilize the space in a more interesting and controlled way.
    A minor station launch kickstarts the ride experience; a hopefully more commonplace integration, and made possible with a theorized efficient and precise low-mid work-output LSM motion system. This system would be responsible for much of the model line's level-motion demands.
    An accelerated and advanced chain lift system creates less of a gap in the action. The lift system can adjust, pause, or accelerate depending on the block situations ahead in real-time. It can operate anywhere from 0 and up to 28mp -- top speed dependent on the applied load and chosen drive motor output. This is done utilizing a reworked and redesigned system, featuring fewer but longer chain linkages made from an in-house carbon fiber-alloy blend. The containment of much of its length is encased in the single rail where its tensioned and load balanced at multiple key areas.
    The expected result is a total system mass that is fractions of the standard but modern chain drives of today; a measurable decrease in maintenance time and costs; an increase in workload operating limit; and ultimately, a far quicker and dependable lift solution. One that can be asked to work harder and faster with the same loaded train gross weight numbers that are experienced on RMC's I-BOX models.
    The overall goal is to create a non-stop action experience for the riders; one that solves a problem which RMC currently faces in regards to: placement, system reliability and throughput, and unique land management. Rather than the skyline-curtain that is the wooden network of supports found on IBOX models, the T-Rex model-line, ultimately, could be positioned in the middle of a park and be a part of the skyline, rather than all of it.
    The T-Rex, in the best setting, will look impressive and pleasing to watch or see in motion, or while standing still--and in the worst setting, be inoffensive and not the root of any visual mess.

      Thanks -- it means a lot to here that part appreciated. Its always a surprising amount of work by the end of it, not that it necessarily feels that way in the process.
      The Environments are never as good as I want them to look, but I figure the more I try, the better each instance should look since I carry over any new textures or setups I make for each project.

      @@KadskeDesign Definitely, it shows how the ride would look in a semi-realistic setting. I feel half of a ride's experience is the setting that it takes place in so going the extra mile is worth it for the end result.

    No way this many inversions would make it into the final design. But that's a shame because this is perfect.

    I loved this just as a quick watch, but I love it even more after reading your description and reasoning behind the project. What was the height of the main drop in this iteration?

    • @KadskeDesign
      @KadskeDesign  Рік тому

      254ft was max absolute track elevation (measuring 0 = sea-level or waterline, I think).
      Bottom of the drop measures at 89ft abs.
      So the drop hits 90 deg vertical, does a ~90 degree rotation, and measures 165ft from the two tangent to horizon points in the top of lift and base of drop.

    • @KadskeDesign
      @KadskeDesign  3 роки тому +1

      Magic!
      Took me a little while to tweak the right settings. But it was a change in specular color, global gloss % adjustment and toggled on, and adjusting the base color of the rail sco's. The goal was copper, but I like the way it turned out, having a copper reflective coating only.

    everything about this is perfect (imo) its long, has an amazing layout, and is looks to be very forceful. Only thing I could see an enthusiast complain about is the pacing near the end.

      Yeah I goofed a little with the height of the last Dive Loop. Gives a bit of suspense, but not a good element to have so late in the ride when concerned with velocity variance (concerns with valleying)

    I love this design so much! I love the scenery and everything about it! Just, what is the exact height of this rmc t-rex masterpiece?

    • @KadskeDesign
      @KadskeDesign  Рік тому

      Thanks a bunch! Ignoring the height delta the pre-lift section creates, the total drop off the lift hill is 170ft, with a total height change of 190ft. If we looked at the lowest point of the ride, and *are* including the pre-lift section, the total height change is like 248ft lol. Bit of a crazy scenario, but one I thought looked and felt pretty cool to imagine up.
