I've shot Nikon (and still do) videos and the quality is always unmatched (in my opinion) colour science and all.
I've been using Nikon's since Z6 came out and I'm impressed by the quality. I'm using Cinema Tools LUTs for Nlog material and it's been amazing.

Luckily, in today's age it is almost impossible to find a "bad" camera. Love Nikon - use the Z6 ii and very happy.

Besides enjoying your trip, meeting the Nikon staff, what are your thoughts about the camera?
If N-Log was a little better and the lowlight was better, we’d honestly consider switching. It’s that good. Autofocus is phenomenal, full frame 4K 120 and 8k raw internal is unmatched in mirrorless cameras. IS is on par with most cameras. All around a great contender in the mirrorless space.

They went from mediocre video now at the top of the range with the best price to performance of the big three brands. You can find any lenses from Sony/Canon that can match Nikon's 1.8 S line.

Great video! Wow! The Nikon Z8 is red V raptor quality. What codec did you use to film this? What filtration as far as ND? Thanks
I’d say it’s closer to Canon Log 3 quality. Far from RED quality as I own a Komodo and know the difference. V-Log, Canon Log 2, and S-Log 3 are the best profiles for mirrorless cameras in my opinion and then N-Log and Canon Log 3 come in next.
Used the Prism Lens FX VND. It’s alright but not the best VND out there. Im still searching for a solid one that doesn’t have a texture effect on the bokeh.
@@Whiteinrevery Yes, true, N-log is far from RED. I was talking more about cleanliness of the color and the motion cadence. The Nikon Z8 looks more filmic than the Sonys. With color space transform and Alexa LUT, I'm able to get my Nikon Z8 footage very close to my ARRI Amira. I should have said it looks like Alexa footage. Of course nothing looks like Alexa but an Alexa, but the Nikon Z8 has really clean color, it doesn't have that strange tint that Sonys have, and it may not have the dynamic range of slog3, but it has some magic to the image that cannot be quantified. The Z8 shoots a very pretty image.

@@Whiteinrevery what do you mean by quality? the log profile doesn't dictate dynamic range, it's the sensor.
wish the z8 would have a flip out screen and possibility to shoot directly to ssd
you now can get the flip out screen on the new Z6iii.

@@prayagpankaj9237 I have the Nikon Z Fc, my only wish is they make a special edition Nikon Z 8 in the form of a black Nikon Z FC (but full frame of course, along with all the specs). It probably won't happen, but I can dream! 😎
So sorry about that. It’s an f/4 lens. I’d freak out with that range at 2.8 too. Good catch and I apologize for the error. Will update in the description.
Hey WIR! Been following your content for a long time. Full time I shoot docs for PBS and I also shoot wedding films. Recently we moved over to the Z9 and I’m really loving NLog. It has some quirks - such as the monitor interruption upon record stop, not being able to load your own LUT into the camera itself, not being able to mirror the dual card slots, no timecode, and the provided LUT from Nikon is sub par. I built my own NLog - 709 LUT that works really really well. Let me know if you’d like to try it out. For wedding films I’m traditionally a GH6 user. Cheers! 😃
Thanks for following along. Not sure what monitor you are using, but with the Z8 we never had any monitor interruptions when recording or stopping recording. I do agree the Nikon LUT is not good and I brought it up to the Nikon team in person while showing them our lut we created for it and they loved it much better. I’ll be releasing this lut over at gamut.io very soon so people can pick it up. I’m down to check out yours if you wanna send it over via email hello@whiteinrevery.com. Thanks

@@hautehussey I rented the Nikon z9 a week prior in order to profile N-Log and start on building a lut for it. They have the same sensor. I had it on a tripod for about 3 shots and then returned it. This was our first time ever filming on the Z8 and actually filming content with models and activities and others moments on a Nikon. Hopefully that clarifies things for you.
Exciting to see you testing out the Z8 but to be fair this wasn't a first impressions video unless you mean first impressions of the Nikon staff. Looking forward to an actual first impressions video or a full review. Thanks :)
Haha we literally filmed with this camera for the very first time and showcased footage we shot with it the very first time. That's literally first impressions. Yes we also talked about the staff too. Will be doing a color grading session of N-Log in a future video so you can check out the footage. This wasnt a "full review" as we didn't go into all the settings and specifics since we didn't have time at the event. I know you might be used to our longer form videos with in-depth reviews, but this was a short version for those that care to see these smaller youtube videos from us.
