+Matthew D. Pearson Timbaland only got to do three songs on da album he did We Need A Resolution, I Care 4 U (which was supposed to been on her One In A Million album) and More Than A Woman
How RTB happened Rapture: “That’s actually a funny story because when Seats and I were doing that track, we were at the studio earlier before Playa came to the studio, we were working on that track, but the funny thing is we didn’t like it the way it was. It was just the beat and a couple of sounds and we were like ‘It’s cool, but we’ll come back to it.’ It’s funny because as we were going to something else, Static had just got there and they heard the song coming down the hall, so when he got there we already cut it off and he came to the door and was like ‘Wait put that back, what is that?’ He told us to pull it back up and he instantly got the melody and he went right in the booth and he didn’t do any words, he just put the melody down. And then the next couple of days, he did the whole song.”
I've listened the Rock the Boat a number of times. Today I looked at the video, then listened to the instrumental. This beat is classic. It has an Isley Brother's feel. Love the variation of beats. I'm hearing the beat differently today. It's a definitely a classic. Love how it vibrates when you have it on loud. I can listen to the instrumental all day. Wow. Aaliyah was unique/original.
Yeah I did the same thing but the beat came into my head along with the words 20yrs later and I agree but as a kid not really knowing what she was talking about in the song that’s kinda crazy, just on a subliminal level, kinda toxic to say the least
Now Aaliyah is the true meaning of ICONIC! This woman is a legend, and she continues to live on through her music, just like MJ lives on through _his_ music!
she wouldn't have listen to you! it was in her destiny to die that day. you can't cheat death. even if you narrowly escape death it's only because it wasn't your time.
am I the only one that can hear her voice going alone with this word for word? this beat is the only beat that give me chills and I can spot this from anywhere.
Aaliyah has put out some hits but Rock The Boat is by far the best record she's put out. I saw the making of the video and have been in love with this song every since. miss u baby girl!🙌😇
This beat was about to be deleted. Static Major heard it thru some headphones and saved it may both of the legends who placed magic on this record rest in peace
This beat literally sounds like an island and sea. My favorite part of this entire beat is that double sonar sounding thing at 00:10 idk what it’s called lol it plays synonymously with the base drop in the intro and in all the choruses but it’s not in the verses. I also love the synthesizer in the intro it’s very unique I’ve never heard another similar synth sound in a song it makes this song instantly recognizable sonically. Also love all of the random anomalies that probably appear one time at random parts of the beat
I'm a drummer, and I've played a lot of licks, as well as heard 25 years of licks. This is probably, the top 3 of all times........ Rest Well Beautiful
If I produced this record, it would take me a few weeks to come to terms with the masterpiece that I had made. This beat is sick in wayy too many ways. Dude had nothing but time when he was crafting this track. Put some good headphones on and truly listen to the subtleties scattered all around this instrumental...
S/O Key Beats!!! They made it, ppl think she only made good beats with Timbaland but Key Beats made this and I think this is a top 2 Aaliyah song in my opinion
Its amazing, its been almost 20 years. So much has happened in our world since her passing. September 11th was literally less than a month after she was gone. You get transported back 20 years and frozen in time with this this track. Rest In Peace Aaliyah.
0:35 that quick guitar riff is the best thing ever done in music history lol its just so in the fuckin pocket, prefect reverb and echo and perfect tone!
Even as a kid I loved it, still do. It's these little nuances throughout the beat that make this stand out as one of the best R&B instrumentals imo. And this is before you even factor in Aaliyah's smooth vocals 👌🏾💯
Just hearing this brings me back to that awful day... That we lost a Beautiful Soul, I was a little girl when this happened, but as I got older and heard about the story... It hurt my heart, Rest In Peace Ms.Aaliyah
This song was my brother fav before he died bring me to tears each time I.hear it aaliyah , we miss you and love you you were a humble person and I will forever love you rip Aaliyah!!!
As a producer I really appreciate this beat. Just taking in every instrumental element is amazing and as a whole brings a mix of emotions from sadness to happiness, motivating yet chill and relaxing vibes. If this would be the last thing I heard while taking my last breath leaving this cruel world, I would be at complete peace.
I care for U was recorded right before One In a Million album was released, she wanted it on the album, but it was already mastered. But Rock the Boat in 98 was a shocker to me.
RTB was written two years before it was released but because of the song being sexual the label didnt think she was ready to record it. Good thing it was saved for her though she sang it better.
We Miss you Everyday Beautiful Angel 👼❤️🌹🙏🏾💪🏾🕊 it breaks my heart every time I think about it or every time I look at you're pictures 💔💔💔💔😭😭😭😭 #BabyGirlforeverinourhearts I know you're enjoying you're time up their in heaven singing along with the Angels with Yah Watching over you with all the other people. 👸👸👸👸
From 4:07 on is MAGICAL and makes me think of her behind the scenes special that began with this part. Live for those guitar licks. Im the end of video her hair was blowing in the wind and landed PERFECTLY on beat as a wave crashed.
One of the smoothest beats I've ever heard.
+Sonic Tha Hedgehog True.
Timbaland!
+Matthew D. Pearson This was produced by Keybeats not Timbaland.
+OVO Jade Eric Seats on the drums/percussion
+Matthew D. Pearson Timbaland only got to do three songs on da album he did We Need A Resolution, I Care 4 U (which was supposed to been on her One In A Million album) and More Than A Woman
I can still hear her over this instrumental
Why
I can hear my baritone 😜
you dont know how RIGHTTTT YOU ARE!!! @brothachase thanks man made my life with this kinda comment TURN THE LIGHTS OFF!!
that pic of Chase lmfao
this beat the coldest rnb beat in my opinion.so smooth.

Alex K I know this is late reply, but Static Major I believe produced this one. Rip Static Major 😢
Zee No, Static only wrote this song. “Keybeats” produced it
Alex K timberland made the beat

Beautiful instrumental... So calm and relaxing... Makes me feel like I'm on vacation.
This beat is nectar
The instrumental is so tropical and relaxing, I miss Aaliyah

@Mabel Pines I listen to this instrumental to relax my mind
Mabel Pines i miss her too but shes in heaven now. shes in a better place & shes probably looking down on all her fans right now
This song is still in rotation on R&B stations
Yes I had heard it two weeks ago and before that I heard it in January
@BoaSky true. The breakfast club did a aaliyah mix last year on her 39th birthday. Her 40th birthday is coming up so hopefully they do it again.
I Hope They Do It This Year What Radio Tho??
Aaliyah's sensual voice really made the beat work
the BEST ISLAND song to ever be made
Agreed!
Dante E paradise ≈ 🌴

Shout out to Eric Seats and Rapture Stewart, the composers of this beat.

I didn’t understand the lyrics when I was a kid but Now 😳😳😳😳😳
I was thinking the same exact thing but man 20yrs of that same mentality is crazy!?! No wonder we are where we are 🫢
Yea i love how the used to use analogy in music. Now its just in yiur face sex etc
I was in the same boat, but oh boy now I know. It's about how we all got here.

The guitar licks through out!!!🙌🏾🙌🏾 Yasss!!!👏🏾👏🏾
Dave foreman at his best !!! It was added after too
The dislikers got no respect for a good woman who has talent, great music and has sadly passed away.
Something so aquatic about this beat. Can never get enough
Who would've thought Aaliyah recorded this in 1998. Unbelievable talent 😉
Runako Porter she recorded the song in 2000
aaliy.once I'm sure I read somewhere that was one of the first songs she recorded I could be wrong
Runako Porter it was try again recorded in 1999 and then miss you in the fall of 1999 then rock the boat and the rest of the album
The ninety"s was the last decade of great music this is one of them the great Aaliyah

Rest in Power Queen. We haven't forgot about you.
Aaliyah knew how to explode this beat at its finest with her smooth voice. Perfect match.
the way the beat gradually gets faster by the end… defines the meaning of this song . very creative !

This beat's just incredible on its own and electrifying when the volume is up or when Aaliyah sings with it.
This instrumental was so damn smooth
