In the most northeastern part of this metropolitan city, there still exists 달동네, literally translated as moon village.
Originated from a refugee village in the postwar era, it refers to a village built up on mountainsides, closer toward the moon.
People who have been living here mostly for more than 50 years are now to bid a farewell to their home, which will be transforming into a new neighborhood through a redevelopment project.

I wish they could just fix up the places so people can continue to live there. There are many Koreans who are homeless that might want to live there. Not all housing is affordable…..make this place affordable!!!!! It would also be nice as this a historical site, preserve it in a proper way!!!!!

It's interesting how today, the word development means the destruction of something to rebuild it into something new, when it actually means to improve on what is already there. The moon village is such an important part of so many peoples lives and the village speaks history and I think it's really sad that they have to give up their homes just to make space for more skyscrapers

The redevelopers see a run-down village but these people call it home. It is sad because there will be nothing but memories for the people who used to live here since this area will be totally changed. I‘m sure it wasn‘t all good living in this area, otherwise, those who left would have stayed. The place definitely needs an „upgrade“ but it inevitably comes at the cost of „lost“ homes for these people. Although they are provided new residences, maybe even better ones, they definitely is still some trade-off - maybe less space, less fresh air, have to get used to more crowded places, etc.

I wish they could continue living there and see new families and children and new young love move in and see them make new memories together with the elders that can tell the kids and young people all the beautiful memories on those streets and the people that used to live there. But it can be done in a way where the memories of such peoples & the traces of their living through these many years & generations are kept intact rather than being vanished from the pages of history permanently. Project can be carried on the abandoned houses alone where people no longer lives and let the others who wish to live there continue to live. My intention is not to discriminate kim jung hyun but I am just trying to say that what happend is not our problem. They were in a relationship at that time. And they did it of their own will. Who are we to judge them? People only needs a topic to talk about. And who gave right to dispatch that they can leak their private messages. And first of all from where did they get their conversation? There is something suspicious. I think it is all pre planned to de grade or seo ye ji or kim jung hyun.
We should stand together against the haters and neitizens. And help our actors.

@@bsmortal2560 there’s literally no information in your comment tho so in that case it seems to me like you’re trying to fish people into engaging in someone else’s drama that should only include those people involved.
Anyways, I just wanted to let you know in case you commented by mistake which turned out to not be the case so I’ll leave it at that.
      Have a good day :)
