I ended up using a small screwdriver and a scratch awl to get the ring off. Drove the screwdriver under the ring and then went in behind the ring with the scratch awl. It only took 5 minutes to get it off.
Just wanted to say thanks I appreciate the video, I'm a fellow do it yourselfer.. thanks to your video you made this job go a lot quicker for me (let's do it yourself first would figure it out eventually but it would take five times longer without the guidance of a video like yours) Thanks again looking forward to Future content that you might put out there for us..... Dude....that axle come out easy. I'm working on my nephew's. His axle is hell to come out. I come here to make sure I was doing it right....and I am. Thanks for the video. I just need a bigger dead blow and a little more ass.....lol
I just did this repair on a 2001 Polaris scrambler 500 4x4 with the original axle bearings. I thought I'd never get that axle nut off. I heated it with a normal blue tank bernzomatic, 5lb. sledge, pipe wrench, and candle wax. It took 4 tries heating 3min. each time and adding wax each time. Gonna be frustrating, just keep heating, adding wax, and trying to get it off after every heating. Good luck!
What is the “carrier” piece called. Is that the rear end? I apologize if that is a dumb question but I am indeed serious. Mine has a crack in it and I need to know what to order
Thanks. I put the bearings in the housing and slid the axle through with no problem. Depending on how rusty your axle is you might have to sand it down. The other thing is, did they give you the right bearings?
one of the clearest visuals and verbal instructions ever on youtube! thank you!
Cool! good to hear positive feedback. Thanks
Excellent job. Didn’t waste time taking all bolts and nuts off. That’s easy to do. You went from one task to the next. Thank you!!!!!
Thanks and your welcome. Trying to keep it short, simple and too the point.

Same as a 2004 trailboss you think?
I will have to look it up and get back with you.
My axle nut will not come off
Have you tried PB blaster? It works better than WD-40 in my opinion.
