Thank you! Same to you👍🏻 always nice when it is a good result on a #willitstart video, was starting to doubt if we’d have to dive deeper into the engine but we got there
I would call that successful attempt to first understand the status of the engine and other diagnostic features to keep the engine running and see what is needed to bring it back to optimal condition as a realabl machine ...job well done and good luck.
Thank you! Hope you enjoyed the video and the thought process and explanations, I did start to question whether it would be a strip down job but perseverance paid off and it’s a nice machine👍🏻
Well done lads. I have had a lot of 3 cylinder Asian engines in different farm machinery. What I found with them is they won't start without the Glow plugs being used always. I had a digger with similar problems to that one. I found to get her going I'd use a hot air gun into the air intake and leave it running till she started. That way she's getting constant hot air while I'd be turning her over. Worked every time.
Did you adjust the valve lash ? 2000 hours engine shouldn't be worn out,so i suspect valves not sealing properly and difficult to start in cold weather until you build up enough heat to expand valves so they seal properly. compression testing a diesel is only good for testing cylinders relative to each others, the compression glowplug bore adapter do not have the same volume as the glowplug itself,so the compression will be low for sure. Nice work.
We checked it, but only as a means of a more accurate check to see if the valves were seated. The exhaust valves were slightly over spec of 0.010" but nothing that would stop it running. No adjustment was made at risk of the clearences becoming too tight if the valves were infact not seated.
I heard the other cylinder come on line finally. She did miss on two cylinders at first gradually getting the valve seats to seal. The small amount she came up with oil to the rings meant the valves at first did not seal. When the video break came and she came back all 4 cylinders were firing.
It is certainly rare Andrew, I spoke to Barry Cosslett who had the Mitsubishi dealership for Wales & South West and he didn’t sell any of them as they were marketed by Mitsubishi Agricultural division and not the Construction machinery dicision
On Lifting its bonnet and seeing No Air Filter Would be a warning sign, This Motor has seen excess Starter Fluid and the Bores are Glassed To the Point of Not start able! But that's just My Opinion, Had a Brother that That Used Starter Fuild on a Tractor to this Point rather than fixing the Glow Plugs set-up, being a cheap skat ended up expensive!
We didn’t know much about its past Fred we did find out that it had a newish engine fitted years back, a guy commented on here to say they suffer from low compression
Good job guys getting the mitzy going really had me on the edge of my seat willing it to go when you were on the starting stage, do you think a damn good servicing with fresh oil etc will make her usable again or is it going to require more? ps ether starting systems were/are quite common --- plenty of John Deere combines i've seen have ether systems for cold starting out in the mid west.
Thanks Steve! Yeah I did start to think maybe it had beaten us but Thomas wasn’t going to give up when we were so close👍🏻 I think it will be given a good service and a new smart paint appearance hopefully, not many of these ms030 about in such good shape
We’re concentrating on building a shelter to get it under cover at the moment, still work goes on in the background researching and looking for spares and missing parts to get it back up together👍🏻
Nicely done gents! A happy, healthy, prosperous, safe and peaceful new year guys!

Nice work guys. Glad you got it going. Hopefully it will see a new life. 👍👍👍👍👍👍

Thanks glad you enjoyed it, the hot air gun is a good idea I’ve even pre heated diesel to try to aid the process
I was thinking exactly the same thing using the hot air gun, and yeah all the asian engines always seem to need a lot of pre-heat to get them going.
Szczęśliwego Nowego Roku!!!

Dziękuję, mam nadzieję, że miło spędziłeś święta w Polsce
if you have a compression issue , you can better bring a jumpbooster with 24volts , if you want it to get it going
We did try to swing it over on 24 but worries about damaging the starter👍🏻

its done 12,000 atleast
Top job lads

Took a while for it to get there but it was worth it👍🏻
Its always easier when its in a barn/shelter
Yeah it saves the weather rusting things and the freeze thaw is not as harsh, a rare gem👍🏻
I cant say that i have ever seeen one of these it does not look to bad . All the best to you .

Stuck rings? Put ATF down in the cylinders, let it soak over night.
That was our next plan of action if all else failed! Have you used it with success?
Almost a new doorway for the barn😂
Apparently a tractor ran into the barn from the other way years ago, we almost returned the compliment🤣🤣🤣

I couldn't help but notice that there was a ' Landie'
at the back of the shed
is it a runner ? , may be
work on that ? ❤😲😳
@@charlesallanstewart-kl2op yes I think it was a P registered, I’m sure the owner would let us have a go at starting it in the future👍🏻

Had a new Mitsubishi MS 030 in the early 80’s it was a cracking little digger ..
Yes a very compact machine which was probably a big advance on what uk operators had been used to👍🏻
Put a heat air gun in the intake end start it it wil the rings are stuck it needs hot air to start
I had a 1.5 tonns with 3 cylinder mitsubishi. Was run without air filter. Wery low compression.
@@EgilJohansen-j3v that’s interesting, air filter would restrict air flow enough on low compression engine
I think 💭 early Cat machines under 12 tonnes until the mid 90's are bagde engendered Mitsubishi units.
Yes I think Caterpillar bought out Mitsubishi and early machines still had the Mitsubishi style cabs👍🏻
Nice😍😍😍
Thanks👍🏻glad you enjoyed it
One thing needed was different person on the throttle!!!
😳🤣🤣
Class video to see this lovely Mitsubishi digger come back to life to hear her suckin diesel ⛽️ 😀 again is she gonna be forsale good mechanicing
Thanks👍🏻the owner is keeping it and the intention is to take it to a local working plant show this year I believe
@@RustNRestoration would the digger be better with rubber tracks
small bore short strok diesls you got to lov4 a long stroke get her on 2 and shes away
Yes struggling with 2 down on a short stroke Simon🤦🏼
How is the dynahoe doing anymore videos
