    Diss track to kool Mo Dee . They went back and forth with battle rap for a long time. LL is a rapper favorite rapper! ❤

  • @Docmananoff
    @Docmananoff 28 днів тому +7

    Let me tell you something about this battle: this song was an answer to ‘How you like me now’ by Kool Moe Dee. He represented well on here but he actually got killed by Moe Dee’s response to this song, it’s called ‘Let’s Go’.
    After ‘Let’s Go’ dropped it was decided that Kool Moe Dee won the battle…
    But LL came back a whole year later with:
    To the break of dawn.

      @@snakoiler Let's Go ate LL up. Like the original commenter said, LL came back A WHOLE YEAR LATER! And perhaps me star trek didn't sell out like LL did with that suspicious and suspect connection and relationship with Quincy Jones. Fame comes with a price.

    The funny thing is, LL started Love Rap. There weren't any HiPHop ballads before I Need Love.
    He pioneered and did it all. That's how he kept going decade after decade.
    He made a fortune with these battles.
    Kool Mo......Cannibis was another one.

    LL Cool J is probably the most versatile rapper to ever live. He has many styles like story telling, battle raps, songs for the ladies, hardcore, lyrical. LL was that dude back in the day.

    Although Kool Moe D thought LL Cool J stole his style, LL Cool J persona was more influenced by T La Rock. LL Cool J styles were similar T La Rock's voice inflection and the way he dressed. When I first listened to LL Cool J, I thought he was T La Rock. LL Cool J later carved out his own niche. Kool Moe D was more of a lyricist, but his beats were staled. Just with lyrics alone, Kool Moe D outclassed him. LL Cool J had better beats and his delivery was with more passion.

    YES, AN LL DISS TO KOOL MOE DEE

  • @Knick_Fury
    @Knick_Fury 24 дні тому

    Context: Kool Moe Dee was from the pioneer era of rappers and LL was part of a new generation of emcees (along with groups like Run DMC) that were on the rise and enjoying commercial success (translation-they were getting more fame and more money than their predecessors). LL’s style was clearly influenced by Kool Moe Dee who, as part of the group the Treacherous Three, was known for using a large vocabulary and creating complex rhymes patterns. KMD was a little bitter that these new rappers were getting over using what he felt was HIS style…especially considering, he was still in the game. To his credit, he updated his sound musically and dropped a solo album that simultaneously took a shot at the new jacks (specifically LL) and got him the recognition he thought he deserved.

    This was badass. I had to check it out to find out what it was all about. The only Jack The Ripper I am aware of is the historical serial killer in England in 1888 . I knew that couldn’t be what the song was about 😂!

    LL - Jack the Ripper vs Kool Moe - Let's Go
    Legendary
    The beef was also about Kool Moe felt LL disrespected other great rappers. Those being Kool Moe who made rap beef to what it is today. Grandmaster Melly Mel. Grandmaster Caz. (I'm missing a person or two).

    Dope reaction. Thanks for covering this track. I know you know about the Canibus and LL beef, Canibus did a response to this song after the original 4 track back and forth (4,3,2,1 then Zoom, then 2nd Round KO, then The Ripper Strikes Back)... After the dust settled they both sent little shots here and there but Canibus was live in Amsterdam and was doing a show, he unveiled for the first time a freestyle called "Rip The Jacker Live"... Its supposed to be a direct response to this song you reacted to, its a dope song and pretty scathing dis. The crowd goes nuts every line so much that Canibus has to yell at them throughout to calm down so he can get through it. Im not asking you to react to it but that would be cool too. I think you should definitely listen to it at least. *Canibus - Rip The Jacker Live Freestyle*
