I particularly like when you share set up and the flys you are using. Being a beginner it helps me understand your set up based on what hatches your seeing. Thanks for the great content. Your videos are amazing.
Another AWESOME video. Ants make sense dude... When aren't there ants? Great fish. They're lucky it's you. I would be eating my limit every day! LOL!!!
At time 9:05 the sight of the scenery in that cloudy stormy day is a sight of Nirvana. As always, most beautiful fish making an unforgettable fishing day.
With a snowstorm coming in tonight to the upper Midwest, it's fun to watch another great video of warmer days on mountain streams and eager Trout. Another beautiful stream. Well done Drew!
It's definitely not as easy as it was even in 2016. The bigger streams with big fish seem to attract more private purchase/loss of access. Tiny creeks in national forest just aren't going to draw to same attention!
Totally surprised me too. I was expecting trout like the first one caught on day 1 behind camp. Especially with all the burned area. Stream was amazing!
Great job, love the videos. Have not kept track of how many I have watched but its been a bunch. I am impressed with where you often fish. Seems like serious bear country which would keep me out of those places. Very bearaphobic.
Haha, I hear ya. I think these are big for this little creek but definitely just an average fish on any big river like the north platte or the white river where we have 30+" browns.
Another amazing vid Drew, as usual! I love your 7 1/2’ 3wt. Superfine! I have one and it’s probably the best rod I’ve ever had for throwing delicate little dries!
Wow! Can’t wait to see the 2wt. in action! I have a soft spot for all of the SF’s. My first was the Ol’ Far & Fine (7’9” 5 wt.) It was my first Orvis rod I bought back in the ‘80’s. That 2 wt. would be a good choice for Crane and some of your home wasters.
Thanks Drew always a great watch! Can't wait to see the Montana fishing. I was supposed to go out there for a four day trip and had to cancel because of family health issues but anyway thanks for the videos!
Your explanation of flies you use makes allot of sense. I tie my own and if a pattern is very complicated I just don’t do it. Most fish are just not picky. At least where I fish.
Drew that’s funny going fish this last hole two casts n you have fish fighting over one fly!!!! I spent two hours today nymphing to catch one fish!!! I’d love to have a few days strung together like that!!!!
Just ordered some new USFS maps for next July. Will be doing some blue grouse scouting too. Going to do 7 day trips. I have a 10 acre hay field to irrigate in northwest Wyoming. Those burns are so good for grouse, deer, elk and moose.
@@LooknFishy You’re inspiring me to do more. I have some good day fishing on Shoshone River and my fishing kayak on eastern Yellowstone Lake, but backcountry is the best.
Love your videos. You fish the same kind of streams that I love - no people. Tell me about your wet wading gear, I have never done it . I have always wore waders but I think I would like to give it a try next summer. The waders get a hot on long hikes.
I definitely don't do waders until it's cols. I wear wrangler outdoor pants and orvis ul boots. I have 2 vids that talk about each in detail from the end of last year's road trip. So Dec or Jan. Plus another on what I pack on hiking trips.
Orvis ultra light boots. I have a couple vids that cover my gear boots, pack, pants from last December after I finished my 7k mile road trip thru CO, ID and Wyoming
Awesome video as always, Drew, thanks for sharing! I noticed you tie your dropper to the bend of the hopper hook - I recently started doing the same as well. Wondering if you have ever lost flies because the line slips off or if you use a certain knot to prevent that? It hasn’t happened to me yet so not sure if it’s common at all.
I wear my orvis ultra lights with a thick hiking sock and a hiking liner under the sock. I have a video on my wet wading gear from last Dec after I finished my 7k mile road trip.
I definitely will but my budget only had room for 3 states this time. But my plan is to do this more and eventually be able to afford longer road trips in several states and possibly some passport required travel also. Baby steps for now tho lol!
Haha, I hear good things about Utah. I typically return to a few states and pick 1 new state each year...so I can get more familiar with some and not completely starting over and need new maps, etc and be totally unfamiliar with an area. MT was my new state this year. 3 trips to WY and 2 to Idaho.
Shiras moose aren’t that aggressive, big bulls will stomp and snort when you get too close. I’ve had cow moose with calves approach within 20 yards and bed down along a creek while fishing.
Drew... love your series! Just one question, how do you manage to get away for so long? My wife would file missing person and divorce papers at the same time!
Haha...I just answered this question on my Instagram today. I'll save you the hassle of going to a different platform... TRUE STORY...People ask me all the time, how I'm able to take off months at a time to camp/fly fish all over the US.....SEE BELOW. Almost 15 years to the day my wife and I made the decision to chase the experience not the possession. So we sold almost everything we owned and relocated back to Arkansas. My wife was able to transfer with her current employer but the small community we moved to didn't offer many opportunities for me. So we decided to buy the smallest home we could find (built in the 50's) and she gave me a chance to stay home with our kids full time and live off one income. That was in 2007. We don't do anything else. We paid our cars off years ago. Our house was paid off last year. My dad and later step-mom passed before the pandemic and I used the little bit of inheritance I got from the home my 4 siblings sold to upgrade to my Chevy (super irresponsible lol). That's my only debt now. SO as long as I sleep in my truck bed, I'm able to find a way to cover my gas and fishing licenses. Definitely not earning a living off UA-cam, I don't have a ton of sponsors and I don't sell to the community but I'm super appreciative of those from the community that subscribe and follow the adventure. Without y'all I'm not able to do what I do and will continue as long as I can! So thank you for all the support 🙏!
Thanks for showing the flies and set up.
You're a good fisherman, Drew!

Thank u, definitely try to add that in every so often.
Oh yeah the moose love all that willow bush! Great video bud!
Spektakulär fly fishing,nice trout,clear water,super mister!
Thank you very much!
Thanks for sharing. Can’t wait for the rest of the trip
Was crazy good...lots to share!
Beautiful! That fire was a nasty one that blew up hot and fast. Good to see the fish thriving now.
Yea I heard it got out of hand fast. Crazy how resilient fish can be....great example on how streams can recover and be good fisheries again!
Another AWESOME video. Ants make sense dude... When aren't there ants? Great fish. They're lucky it's you. I would be eating my limit every day! LOL!!!
i love the small stream stuff. Stellar dry takes and brilliant fish.
thanks drew. i really do appreciate.
Glad you enjoyed it and thanks for the awesome words!
@@LooknFishy you're welcome brother.

It was definitely a fantastic day!
Stunning backdrop with the charred trees and clear waters - awesome trip! Living the best life Drew!
Thank u, was a very cool stream. Trying my best to for sure!
Brought back memories when you were walking down that trail looking at the water and knowing it’s going to be great!!!
Such a gorgeous stream...I couldn't help but imagine it before the forest fire.

Awesome got plenty to help get thru the winter lol!
Drew, with so much private property today, I'm amazed how many great fishing spots you find.
It's definitely not as easy as it was even in 2016. The bigger streams with big fish seem to attract more private purchase/loss of access. Tiny creeks in national forest just aren't going to draw to same attention!
Another great video. Thanks for bringing us along, at least for me I have no fear of running out of beer anytime soon. Haha
That's my worst fear lol!
I can't believe that you're catching trout of that size in what appears to be only about six inches of water. Amazing!
Totally surprised me too. I was expecting trout like the first one caught on day 1 behind camp. Especially with all the burned area. Stream was amazing!
Great video Drew! Videos have been awesome!
Much appreciated. Always listen and apply what people suggest!
Another nice stream drew 👌. I know for a fact it never gets old. Tight lines. 👍
That's great to hear!
Love, love, love streams that size that hold fish that size. 3 weight city! M2
Super fun on the 3wt!
You make it look so easy! All the best. Be safe and have fun.
Magic of editing!
Beautiful fish and stream
Such a good stop...hard to imagine but it just keeps getting better!

From Wyoming , Fish North Platte. Beautiful trout!
Brother, if you think these are BIG trout you need to rethink BIG.
Haha, I hear ya. I think these are big for this little creek but definitely just an average fish on any big river like the north platte or the white river where we have 30+" browns.
Nice Snake River Cutt. It looks like you’re fishing the upper Little Grey’s River.

Love to see you catch those Cutthroats! Amazing video as always!
Thay are super cool! Always a treat to find them!
Good stuff Senor 👍🏼!
Thank you kindly!
Love it as always
Many thanks!
Your explanation of flies you use makes allot of sense. I tie my own and if a pattern is very complicated I just don’t do it. Most fish are just not picky. At least where I fish.
I definitely appreciate the uneducated trout from wild places rather than the educated trout from areas that get tons of attention!
Drew that’s funny going fish this last hole two casts n you have fish fighting over one fly!!!! I spent two hours today nymphing to catch one fish!!! I’d love to have a few days strung together like that!!!!
Haha, those days remind us why we head out west in the summer....it does for me anyway lol!
7 1/2 3 wt is my fav Orvis tippet from the eighties or early nineties! In fact ,it's what I fished the last two days!
I dig mine for sure!
Just ordered some new USFS maps for next July. Will be doing some blue grouse scouting too. Going to do 7 day trips. I have a 10 acre hay field to irrigate in northwest Wyoming. Those burns are so good for grouse, deer, elk and moose.
Sounds great...nothing like extended trips off the grid!

Lots of signs warning of their presence but didn't see any myself.

Do you ever have issues with tips breaking on any or your Orvis rods?
Nope, haven't had any breaking issues that weren't my fault...which I'll show in the series lol!
@@LooknFishy I bought a Orvis Helos 4F 9' fly rod in Kirks in Estes Park. He had a 1/2 off sale! I couldn't say no.
You ain't got a man in your family if you don't get some fur from those moose and tie a fly with it it lol. Awesome vids man!

Lol now that I gotta see!
What kind of shoes do you wear when you're wet waiting

I add a second knot to keep my dropper seated. I have a short video on my channel from last year's road trip (Dec maybe) that explains it in detail.
Oh cool, will check that out, thanks.
I worry for you about bears, Drew, but moose? They are a greater risk! Be safe, Good Sir.
Pretty sure he carries
