My favorite is the Aston, but I was not expecting to love the Alpha Tauri as much as I do. I love simple black and white color combinations, and this year's navy looks pretty close to black. It just looks sick to me! Good luck Yuki !
I love it except the carbon Halo. All the other carbon is class but the halo is titanium so to have it carbon would be a wrap/paint effect So all red halo is my only critique.
AlphaTauri has strong 2000 BMW Williams vibes, when they used a shade of navy blue which was so dark that it was easily mistakable for black. And to me that car looked fantastic, so it's nice seeing the same colour palette back.
It looks retro to me. It looks like one of the horde of teams struggling for cash that emerged and fell between the second half of the eighties and the first half of the nineties.
more teams should leave the carbon fibre/fiber exposed. this years ferrari with exposed carbon instead of black as a secondary would be spicy. like a modern take on the early 90’s ferraris
That’s already the idea with this years Ferrari, the darker red of the 90s with the black wings. It’s literally just a red car but somehow it’s top of the list for me
honestly klarna is pretty good, being someone that has the painful hobby of 40k. things can get ludicrously expensive and it helps balance things out when i have food and rent to pay during the month. congratz on the sponsor tommo!
I actually agree with Merc. Their car this year was one of the biggest disappointments (aesthetically) of the year. I was so hoping for a similar look to the render that race aim studio put out.. :/
I love the Ferrari, I didnt like it at the begginings but when you see it wearing those mediums, it just sells it so well just because of these small yellow pinstripes on the little winglets yet still everyone overlooks this Ferrari iconic detail.
In terms of improvement from previous livery's I think the Williams has made the biggest jump. It's my favourite Williams livery since the martini livery
Just my list here, feel free to give your own opinions... 1. Alphatauri - Love the navy, love the flow along the sidepod, it just works in so many ways and I'm really hoping Pierre and Yuki can nab a few podiums with it. 2. Aston Martin - That lime is a better compliment compared to the pink of 2021, and like Tommo mentioned the shape just makes it look like a Hot Wheels car. 3. Williams - Didn't like the renders, admittedly, thought the red was an atrocious idea and that the layers of blue would be a mess. Boy am I glad to be proven wrong. 4. McLaren - The side profile is a bit weird (i think the Vuse logo is a bit too far forward) but the black line across the body with the sponsors looks great, the front view looks fantastic, the pallette is awesome. 5. Alfa Romeo - It really looks like a Marlboro McLaren without looking like a Marlboro McLaren. The brighter red is way better than last year, the white nose looks awesome. (admittedly the retro logo is not my cup of tea but its not a big detraction) The new wheel covers rock. 6. Haas - Car itself isnt too aesthetically pleasing, but the vibrancy of the red and blue worked well, and it was less of a blatant oligarchy car compared to 2021. Blank version is kinda boring though, maybe they could use the remaining red as a wraparound? 7. Mercedes - The shape of the car is at fault for this one. The teal always looks amazing and black on teal for the rear wing looks great. But there is too much red and the black number styling feels off on the pure silver. 8. Ferrari - Everything about this car would make me list it as number 1, except for the GODDAMN BLACK NUMBERS. I hate them so much. If they made those white, like it was on the 1990 car which this is an homage to, then I would move it up to number 1 immediately. 9. Red Bull - It's an aestheically ugly car to begin with due to those unusual sidepods, but the livery itself isnt too bad. The problem is its the same one they've been using since 2016. The new Bybit sponsorship wrecks it too. 10. Alpine - Pink and blue works well if you can use it right. Racing Point did it right in 2019. Alpine have not. It's just been slapped on in such random places and it wrecks it. Such a shame from the team that made the best livery in 2021. The full pink version is not bad though, wish they were using that for the full season.
This is a really good list! No weird placements for me. My Top 3: - Ferrari (I actually prefer the Aston Martin livery but the Ferrari car shape is just more beatiful) - Aston Martin - Alfa Romeo
A common theme I’m noticing with others and myself is that the body designs of cars we find attractive lean into that retro styling of the nose and front wing. Having all elements of the wing connect to a slightly more pointy nose seems to be the most aesthetically pleasing. The Ferrari resembling a early 90’s Ferrari, the Williams to me with the nose and the purplish blue base reminds me of the simtek, and the Alpha Tauri with the raised nose and blue and white reminds me of the tyrell 019.
the aston martin looks badass, the green with the graters and wide body kind of reminds me of a Cobra snake when agitated. super hyped for the season. cheers and well done on the video tommo!
I couldn't agree more with the first one. As a lifelong tifoso, I thought they'd do something boring/ mid tier (of course it's gonna be red), but the retro nose/livery combo is absolutely gorgeous. I'm so hyped for 2022 !!

I love that so many of the teams have gone with retro influences in their liveries - the Williams reminds me of the 1994 Simtek, the Alpine (especially the more pink livery) of the 1991-92 Brabham, the Alpha Tauri of the 1990 Tyrrell. The Alfa Romeo's livery is clearly inspired by the Marlboro livery Alfa Romeo ran in 1982, and the Ferrari livery is of course a throwback to their 1983-1992 liveries.

What kills the alpines for me is the two blues, the nice lighter alpine blue on the top, then the pink comes in and the BWT Sponsor logo is that dark blue which isn’t that nice to me. Wish they would try the BWT lettering with alpines blue
It's difficult to rank these liveries, i think there isn't a livery that's actually bad this year. 0. Launch Alpine. Pink car best car. 1. Surprisingly to myself even, Williams. It just looks better every time i look at it. 2. Aston Martin. It's really beautiful. 3. Alpine. It really feels like an either love it or hate it situation with blue+pink, and i'm on the love it side. 4. McLaren. Really nice orange, really nice blue, just really nice all around. 5. Ferrari. Almost on par with McLaren for me, might even end up switching these around at some point. 6. Red Bull. It's the same livery from last year, and that's fine. 7. Alfa Romeo. Red+white is a nice combo, and they make sure their red is distinct from Ferrari's. Pretty nice. 8. Haas. Even in its all-white variant, there's something i oddly like about it, really not sure what it is. 9. AlphaTauri. I just wish it used some brighter colors. 10. Mercedes. I liked it more when it was black :p

FINALLY TOMMO ‼️‼️ Finally a video I totally agreed with the entire time. Every point, every choice, it was all on point. Only change I’d make would be to swap Alfa and Ferrari but the difference between them is very minimal
Yeah, even that he is not banned and even if we boldly assume that he is the best choice for Haas even without Ural Kali - he will still struggle to get visa to most of european countries. And I dont think Haas would want to have that problem almost every round. Probably same thing with Smolyar in MP in F3

Where I'm at with liveries. 1.alfa. minus the white bit on the nose 2. Aston 3. Ferrari 4. williams 5. McLaren (go back to last year's colors with this year's design) 6. Tauri (weird side pod layout) 7. Redbull (tired of it) 8. Mercedes (tired of it) 9.alpine 1 and 2 (bwt colors needs to be all in or not at all) 10.haas (it's just a liveryless car)
I can’t really rank them exactly but I’ve basically split them into a few tiers: S: Ferrari, AM, AR A: Williams(looked surprisingly well on track!), AT B: Mercedes, Haas original, Haas white C: Alpine Blue(unpopular take I know), McLaren, Red Bull D: McLaren Shadow, Alpine Pink, AR camo Overall a pretty good looking grid!
For me 1. Aston Martin 2. Ferrari 3. Williams 4. Alpha Tauri 5. Alpha Romeo (if they switched the colours would of been higher) 6. Blank Haas (don't know why simple just works) 7. Red Bull (not a fan of the massive oracle, doesn't sit right with me) 8. Mclaren (not a fan of the baby blue they use, bit darker and more balanced will look good) 9. As a visual designer i agreed with you on a lot of your points. I was especially happy of your positioning of Mercedes and when you mentioned that red rear wing IMO it ruins the car and idk why that teal on the side is like they did in 2019 anymore. As a person who was sick and tired of the Red Bull livery(i simply prefer the 2009-2015 era and find it MUCH more iconic) i still placed it in top 5 after seeing the thing on their actual chasis. Oracle was implemented very well IMO however there is one thing that ruins the look of the car dramatically and even tho u didn't mention i think it might be one of your reasons too... Its the Bybit logo i have nothing against crypto sponsors if they look good. The bybit logo look UGLY! Just a personal opinion ofc but its a logo i dislike and its literally everywhere in the car the front wing and rear wing were amazing with just that Red Bull logo on it. Replacing it with Bybit and also adding Bybit on that area where the Oracle logo was located last year its too much. However ofc they give big money to Red Bull, cash is king and for that kind of money they can also put Bwt everywhere on that car make it pink with Red Bull colors still everyone would agree with the desicion. However if there was no Bybit for me it was an easy top 3.
Damn, that Alfa redesign is hot. Only thing i don't like is the carbon fibre optic on the front wing (or in general). I think the black on the real thing looks quite nice.
That Alfa redesign is actually way better than what we got. I don't like the fact they basically slapped a slanted square on the side and painted it red and that's basically it. Theres no design, just shapes.
Was able to make it to the Miami GP last week and as a first time f1 fan the mclaren orange popped the most, by far my favorite of the bunch. Red Bull colors pop really well too. I thought the Ferrari would be my favorite but the Maclaren orange was too nice
Idk if this is me, but the way you transform these clunky, awkward front wings to these sleek, black/carbon fiber front wings. It's like your signature move and boy do I live it 🔥👍
What I love about the Ferrari is that it matches the team's situation. Ferrari as a team has been down in the last few years and they're coming back as a force this season. And that car looks mean as hell. They're coming back with a vengeance.
Funny. I thought the Bybit logos made the Redbull look better. It adds that splash of white and I think the real RB18 shape looks sexy. But my favourite livery is the Ferrari, Alfa Romeo and Redbull. Then Alpha Tauri, Williams and Aston Martin look good too. I don't like the Mercedes, McLaren or Alpine. And the Haas is just Haas.
This is my rating, i'll rank it from the liveries that wont run/run for a limited time (14 to 11) to the real ranking of the cars that will run for the whole season (10 to 1): UPDATE 1: since haas has changed their liveries (after all the russian things haas got is completely removed) i'll change the new haas with the Williams 14: The Camo livery from alfa 13: The McLaren Shadow 12: The half Pink Alpine 11: The UralKali Haas 10: The Williams (old was haas) 9: The New Haas (old was williams) 8: The Red Bull 7: The Alpha Tauri 6: The Mercedes 5: The Gulf Mclaren 4: The Aston Martin 3: The Alfa Romeo 2: The Alpine 1: The Ferrari Might Change this, dont know if i'm keeping this or if i change
It seems pretty common for me to see a lot of people that don't like the McLaren livery, but for me, it's easily my favourite of all of them. I like that it seems to break the trend of the other cars, and mix in a few colours. Now, I know that I may be a little bias in placing the McLaren at no 1 on my list, but as a McLaren fan, I struggle still with placing Ferrari a very close second. Williams 3rd, Alpha Tauri 4th, Aston Martin 5th, Alfa Romeo 6th, Mercedes 7th, Red Bull 8th, HAAS (Blank or OG) 9th, and the Alpine cars rate dead last for me. I wont bother rating the extra / testing liveries though.

Yeah, even that he is not banned and even if we boldly assume that he is the best choice for Haas even without Ural Kali - he will still struggle to get visa to most of european countries. And I dont think Haas would want to have that problem almost every round. Probably same thing with Smolyar in MP in F3

I can’t really rank them exactly but I’ve basically split them into a few tiers:
S: Ferrari, AM, AR
A: Williams(looked surprisingly well on track!), AT
B: Mercedes, Haas original, Haas white
C: Alpine Blue(unpopular take I know), McLaren, Red Bull
D: McLaren Shadow, Alpine Pink, AR camo
Overall a pretty good looking grid!
Unpopular opinion I really like the Alpine ones I think solid Bs for me
For me, I'd move the McLaren Shadow to A tier, the Haas' to C tier and the Alpine pink to B tier and then the list is pretty much perfect.

Hey tommo. Im new subscriber of your channel and love your contents. Especially the redesigned series.
As a visual designer i agreed with you on a lot of your points. I was especially happy of your positioning of Mercedes and when you mentioned that red rear wing IMO it ruins the car and idk why that teal on the side is like they did in 2019 anymore.
As a person who was sick and tired of the Red Bull livery(i simply prefer the 2009-2015 era and find it MUCH more iconic) i still placed it in top 5 after seeing the thing on their actual chasis. Oracle was implemented very well IMO however there is one thing that ruins the look of the car dramatically and even tho u didn't mention i think it might be one of your reasons too... Its the Bybit logo i have nothing against crypto sponsors if they look good. The bybit logo look UGLY! Just a personal opinion ofc but its a logo i dislike and its literally everywhere in the car the front wing and rear wing were amazing with just that Red Bull logo on it. Replacing it with Bybit and also adding Bybit on that area where the Oracle logo was located last year its too much. However ofc they give big money to Red Bull, cash is king and for that kind of money they can also put Bwt everywhere on that car make it pink with Red Bull colors still everyone would agree with the desicion. However if there was no Bybit for me it was an easy top 3.

Damn, that Alfa redesign is hot. Only thing i don't like is the carbon fibre optic on the front wing (or in general). I think the black on the real thing looks quite nice.

That Alfa redesign is actually way better than what we got. I don't like the fact they basically slapped a slanted square on the side and painted it red and that's basically it. Theres no design, just shapes.

Was able to make it to the Miami GP last week and as a first time f1 fan the mclaren orange popped the most, by far my favorite of the bunch. Red Bull colors pop really well too. I thought the Ferrari would be my favorite but the Maclaren orange was too nice

What I love about the Ferrari is that it matches the team's situation. Ferrari as a team has been down in the last few years and they're coming back as a force this season. And that car looks mean as hell. They're coming back with a vengeance.

Funny. I thought the Bybit logos made the Redbull look better. It adds that splash of white and I think the real RB18 shape looks sexy. But my favourite livery is the Ferrari, Alfa Romeo and Redbull. Then Alpha Tauri, Williams and Aston Martin look good too. I don't like the Mercedes, McLaren or Alpine. And the Haas is just Haas.

It seems pretty common for me to see a lot of people that don't like the McLaren livery, but for me, it's easily my favourite of all of them. I like that it seems to break the trend of the other cars, and mix in a few colours.
Now, I know that I may be a little bias in placing the McLaren at no 1 on my list, but as a McLaren fan, I struggle still with placing Ferrari a very close second. Williams 3rd, Alpha Tauri 4th, Aston Martin 5th, Alfa Romeo 6th, Mercedes 7th, Red Bull 8th, HAAS (Blank or OG) 9th, and the Alpine cars rate dead last for me.
I wont bother rating the extra / testing liveries though.
