      Except that it is absolute nonsense. The androgen receptor is the key player inside the cell, while carrier proteins like SHBG are involved in transporting testosterone in the blood. So there is literally no "taxi sort of carrier protein" inside the cell. In fact, the testosterone molecule needs to *detach* from a carrier protein in order to diffuse into the cell, where it is *not* received by a carrier protein, but by an androgen receptor.

    1:50 There's no intentional "decision" made by the testosterone molecule. The process is driven by chance and the principles of biochemistry.
    Here's how it works in a more straightforward way:
    1. Diffusion: Testosterone, like many molecules in the body, moves around in the bloodstream and within tissues by diffusion. Diffusion is a random process where molecules move from areas of higher concentration to areas of lower concentration. As testosterone diffuses through the bloodstream, it can come into contact with various cells.
    2. Receptor Binding: If testosterone happens to diffuse close enough to a cell that has androgen receptors, it might bind to one of those receptors. The likelihood of binding is based on the concentration of testosterone, the number of receptors available, and the affinity (strength of attraction) between testosterone and the receptor.
    * No Direction or Intent: There's no directional movement or intent on the part of the testosterone molecule. It's simply moving around randomly, and if it bumps into a receptor that it can bind to, it will. If not, it keeps moving until it either degrades or eventually finds a receptor.
    Perhaps a better way to describe it would be:
    ""When a testosterone molecule passes by a cell with an androgen receptor (the taxi in the metaphor), it may bind to that receptor. The androgen receptor is typically located inside the cell, either in the cytoplasm or the nucleus. Testosterone, being lipid-soluble, can diffuse through the cell membrane on its own. Once inside the cell, testosterone binds to the androgen receptor, forming a hormone-receptor complex. This complex can then enter the cell nucleus, where it binds to specific DNA sequences and influences gene expression."

    Hello Dr. i hope you are doing well. i've got a confusion concerning the relationship between testosterone and hair loss. what i know is that the cause of hair loss is due to the high amount of dht as it is a strong form of transformed testosterone. my qustion is that "does testosterone get down when the dht gets high or they are not related", and thank you in advance Doctor.

    Hmm how about tricking the hypothalamus into thinking that the normal level of testosterone is higher than usual? Could that be done?

      With masturbation you eliminate the testosterone after 💦 , and it’s send to your brain that the level is low so you keep producing testosterone and getting hornier and it never ends 😂

      Yes, the hypothalamus not only controls the amount of testosterone made by sensing the amount of testosterone but also the amount of estrogen and progesterone, you can take synthetic estrogen or progesterone to trick the hypothalamus into thinking there's enough testosterone in the blood and completely stopping the production of testosterone.

      @@feynstein1004 yes, there's drugs like nolvadex and clomid that do this exact thing and are used by steroid users when they stop using steroids to get their natural levels of testostrone back.they work by inhibiting the aromatase enzyme which converts testostrone to estrogen causing the brain to increase the levels of lh and fsh leading to higher testostrone production.

    If hyphotalamus sends signal to testes to produce T, how come some male reduces T level? Does this mean the pypothalamus or testes is not healthy anymore? If so, How can we make this systems back to normal? Any natural ways or meds? Tnx in advance

    2:02 That's just utter nonsense. There is literally no "taxi 'sort of' carrier protein" inside the cell. Instead the testosterone molecule will bind to an androgen receptor. When testosterone reaches tissues with cells that have androgen receptors, it must first detach from the carrier protein. The unbound (free) testosterone is now able to act on target cells.
    So it's completely the opposite. The testosterone molecule has been attached to a carrier protein in the blood stream, which it needs to detach from before getting diffused through the cell membrane into the cell, where it will bind to a receptor, forming a hormone-receptor complex. This hormone-receptor complex can then enter the cell nucleus, where it can influence the expression of specific genes.
    The lecturer’s terminology ("carrier protein" and "sort of") clearly mixes up the concepts of carrier proteins in the *bloodstream* and androgen receptors *inside* the cell. The androgen receptor is the key player inside the cell, while carrier proteins like SHBG are involved in transporting testosterone in the blood.

      Throughout evolution all of unnecessary processes got sorted out. The magical homeostasis that you are talking about is the result of millions of years of fine-tuning. Beings whose genes commanded to build a body that wastes to much or too few energy of certain processes (such as testosterone production) had a worse chance in overall survival because others with more successfully balanced metabolism had a greater chance in overall survival as well. Of course there is a certain range in which this inner balance could lead to success - for example some make more testosterone, some digest faster, etc. - but in the end we can say that all of these processes - the energy spent on them, i should say - are balanced fairly well.

    *When a 21 year old male has Testosterone levels of 900 (I did) or more why do they have great heads of hair? Why can 21 year old men pee 7 feet on demand with Testosterone levels of 900? It's not effecting their prostate either! There is a LOT more going on than just high Testosterone levels. Can anyone tell me the WHOLE hormone story of what is going on in a younger males blood? There MUST be a reason these SOARING high testosterone levels make hair grow fast and shrink the prostate in the younger male population. In fact my hair fell out and my prostate grew by 60% in the 5 year period from ages 31 to 36 EXACTLY when my Testosterone levels dropped by 70%. I went to the Dr. ever year and have my full hormone history in writing from ages 21 to 58 - What am I missing here??? It seems to me young men should not have any hair and their prostates should be ready to explode so it can't be JUST the Testosterone since those levels PEAK from 18 to 28 years of age. What and I missing?*

    what would happen to a guy if both his testes are removed? would he then start producing estrogen and start becoming more feminine physically?

      I don't think so. As far as I know, all the estrogen in a man's body starts out as testosterone. The enzyme aromatase is responsible for the conversion. If you cut off the testes, there'll be very little testosterone in the body to convert to estrogen (estradiol, actually but pretty much the same thing).

      No…u need testosterone to create estrogen…if u remove the testis there will little amount of testosterone circulating in your body
      Which i assume would create a positive feedback loop, meaning your body will continuously produce the hormones needed to stimulate testosterone production (GnRH and LH)… remember the signal to create testosterone comes from the hypothalamus and the anterior pituitary gland….and it takes testosterone itself to deregulate those signals but if its little amount of testosterone circulating then the hypothalamus will continue to signal to create more testosterone. Not sure, but there might be another hormone that could disrupt the signals but as far as the hypothalamus itself, it cant sense that your testis are removed so it would continue to do its job

    Testosterone does not increase RBC's by stimulating EPO. It's role is it inhibits the action of hepcidin, decreasing iron metabolism. There is no effect on EPO by testosterone. Also, the jury isn't out on testosterone and prostate cancer. There is NO effect, not ONE study shows testosterone causes prostate cancer. In fact, the most recent research shows testosterone is protective in prostate cancer (studies out of Harvard). Men with metastatic prostate cancer are actually being treated WITH testosterone and men treated after cancer treatment show less recurrence than men who have testosterone blocked. Facts.. just the facts.
