Fixing my Childhood Broken PlayStation 2 | Console Repair

- My PlayStation 2 broke and a piece of my childhood did at the same time. So I learn how to fix a PS2 Disc Laser and fix it myself! All so I can play classic nostalgic video games like Ratchet and Clank, Metal Gear Solid 3 and, of course, Dog's Life.
After decades of gaming, my PS2 not only decided to break the PS2 Power Button but also the PS2 Disc Laser Reader - meaning I can no longer play games on my PS2 as it stutters... until now. Here I try, for the first time, to get my DIY on and fix it myself with parts I ordered online.
Here's what happened!

This was such an awesome project man I'm so glad you got it fixed and working, very happy to see all those PS2 games working again.
Thanks man! It was massively rewarding... even if emulation makes them look better hahah
I'm so glad you got it working! Happy playing, the PS2 is a gem!
It would have been quite literally impossible without your detailed video on how to do it! It's thanks to you that I get to experience these childhood classics again. Grateful for your content and support!
…now, about that BMO…
Great vid and repair! I was an Xbox boy. I modded it when I was in middle school, upgraded through a number of hard drives, changed the thermal paste a few times, and it’s still kicking.
I have a fat PS2 (30001) that I got from my cousin and its laser is still working fine. Had to open it and give it a good clean and lubricate the disc drive, reflow the AC input solder points, and a few other things, but it’s incredible how resilient these machines are. I ended up modding it to avoid any further stress to the laser, so now it reads games from a 1TB SSD
Thanks so much! I'm very new to this sort of thing and clearly didn't know what I was doing haha
That's insane - I wouldn't even know where to begin with that sort of thing at all.
I think that old laser from the ps2 could make for a cool decoration, especially after all the work it’s been through over the years
I don't know why that made me emotional haha. What would you suggest? Tony Stark Arc Reactor style? haha
LMAO all the way through. Very entertaining and successful xx💙
