  • In this video we take a look around the Two Tunnels Greenway cycle path in Bath; Combe Down Tunnel and Devonshire Tunnel, part of the Somerset and Dorset Railway. These tunnels have so much history locked up in their walls from record braking length to tragic ends, but today offer a commutator route which more people use today than ever did when it was a working railway!
I love these tunnels there a beauty around them!
Get on your bike and check them out!
    Cheers

    A well presented video!
I used to drive past Milford station on my way to work in Bath, back then the station buildings still existed. Such a shame they disappeared.
    Keep them coming!

More people used it when it was a railway, than today on bikes! But it's better now to put it to some use than none at all. Would be better as a railway and more beneficial to serve its built purpose, but some use is better than none and leaving it derelict.

As a local I remember walking through both tunnels back in the early 70's... I then saw the linear park being made which effectively closed off the west entrance of Devonshire Tunnel (accessible only via a manhole cover & ladder). Good to see they have re-opened up the main entrance.

Hi, Thanks so much!. I love the two tunnels... I have seen these develop from their abandoned state to what we see now... They do seem to go on and on... I think we should open up more tunnels . They're fantastic pieces of engineering!

With the music you used (Carnival of Venice), I half expected Fred Dibnah to follow you out!
I recently walked from Midford to Bath Linear Park (and back!) during my recent trip to Bath and Bristol. I wanted to explore the S&D 's two tunnels, having had an interest in it for over 30 years.
