Starts at 1:24. House Ivy, Bamboo Palm, Chinese Evergreen, Snake Plant, Spider Plants, Rubber Plant. 3 - 4 plants are enough for your home. Snake plant recommended by NASA for the bedroom. ❤️🦋🙏
The initial study this notion was based on looked at benzene and a few other volatile organic compounds (which can be found in homes and can cause illness). They placed the plants in a confined space (sometimes less than a metre cubed). It showed good results for some chemicals. To translate the effect into a space the size of the average home would need 600+ plants. Few studies have been done on this in actual living spaces and the studies that were done in living spaces showed mixed results. So....go big or go home, I guess.
Back in the 1970's, when people were actually thinking about and researching these things, there was a dwelling designed to be totally self-sufficient. I believe that people lived successfully, sealed inside for one year. It was financed by a slightly eccentric millionaire. Could someone refresh my memory as to the project's name? Half of the floor space was devoted to plants, more for oxygen than food. I don't think they were trying to supply their food needs that way. Built in Arizona, I believe.
Weird that they say that NASA estimates the purifying power of plants on terms of SQUARE FEET. Air is measured in terms of CUBIC FEET. A 200 sq. ft. room with a typical 8' ceiling is 1600 cubic feet. Not all homes have 8' ceilings. 9' ceilings are still common, and a cathedral ceiling could be 19' high!
wow amazing. i have that plants in our house. i have a deep sleep at night, i stop taking melatonin. thanks for sharing.i am new subscriber new also in your channel..
While many air polutants in our homes are released by cleaning products, plastics, varnishes, paints, and glues off as toxins for months or years. In the past, homes leaked air so much that ventilation relieved the problem. However, homes are built so tight today that they retain these toxins. Now we depend on opening windows and using active (forced air) ventilation (oven hoods vented outdoors, bathroom exhaust fans).
Am I not understanding the math here. If NASA recommends 15-18 house plants for 500 square feet, why would 3-4 be enough for your house. Do they live in a shoe box?
If NASA recommends 15 to 18 plants per 500 square feet, that translates to 3 to 4 plants for the average home? Am I missing something? Most places are bigger than 100 sq ft. At least I hope so...
Some plants are known to take in oxygen and release carbon dioxide (co2) at night, that said it's not a wise idea to sleep with plants in your bedroom.
I’m confused about the part she says “nasa recommends 15 to 18 plants per 500 sq ft then says this means 3 to 4 plants are sufficient for the entire home” An average apartment is 1300sq ft? Let alone a home???

I have many plants around the house big and small we mini garden a big lemon tree that reach up to the second floor and many more is this enough to clean the air that surround us
The NASA clean air study project suggests a minimum of 1 plant per 100 sq ft. So 15 to 30 for the typical home. I didn't see anything about the size of the plants. If you're a plant person you probably have more.
Why i run out of oxygen and hard to breath when i put 4 pieces of snake plant in my bedroom with room size is 20 x 40 ft? Thanks God im still alive. After remove the plant from my bedroom. I don’t experience any of the hard breathing symptom until today.
Sainath Kurule Really? That was great. Im worried to put that snake plant on my bedroom again and i also dont have asthma before. Is it because my room too small to handle with 4piece of snake plant?
candle inthewind What types of your snake plants? Is it the small or high? Mine is 4 pieces with high size. Around 4 feet. I guess maybe my room dont have good air flow thus make me experienced that situation.
How else would NASA reprocess CO2 into O2 and sometimes food, using only sunlight? Also, spacecraft are necessarily going g to contain lots if outgassing plastics, and you can't open a window for fresh air in space! NASA has always hoped to terra-form asteroids or planets; until they can create a self-sustaining spaceship, a sustainable space colony seems unlikely.

@@dasasa2 He's half right, during the night, most plants release CO2, some can release a lot, and can be dangerous in your living room if not ventilated, also, some plants can release harmfuls chemicals in the air, so you better choose wisely which plants you're growing next to your bed.
I spend SOME time in the bedroom while I sleep? What does that mean? I would think in most homes it is the room where most people spend the most time, so it would be the most critical place to have these plants. Also the math about the number of plants recommended for our home based upon NASA statements makes no sense. The above notwithstanding, I am going out and purchase a number of the recommended plants and place the majority in my bedroom. Thanks for posting this video...it just needs a little TLC.
