Happy 82nth birthday David. I was listening to you back in '69... It was part of my youth. Still listening...
One of the singular voices in rock history. David Clayton-Thomas is INSTANTLY recognizable!
Wat a great band & musicians 🎸🎼🎸🐕
Nothing like an entertainer that enjoys what he does....you can tell David enjoys what he does by the expression on his face....one helluva group!
I totally agree with you 👍 😊
That trombone is from outta this world!! Yea, Daddy!!
Chills watching this. Growing up in the '60's as a guitar-rock snob I usually gave short shrift to bands like BS & T...my loss. Why I love UA-cam is I can go back and discover these guys all over again. DCT in total command.
BST was one of the best bands ever. Never get tired of hearing their music.
Man. Better than the studio. What a voice, what a band.
David Clayton Thomas had one of the most powerful voices ever.
Amen
His voice is pure honey!
When BS&T added David Clayton to the group, I don't think they even realized what a huge positive impact he made on the groups already great sound. DCT . . .One of thee very best voices of the era.
Beyond great music and performances...the message is what we should all be stearing our children toward.
"Momma may have,
And Papa may have,
But God bless the child who can stand up and say...I got my own...
Happy 82nd birthday my friend you are a true legend and your music will always live on
I was born in '66 and my Uncles, who were musicians, turned me on to so much great music from the 60s and 70s as I grew up. This post is dedicated to them.... how I wish I could do it all again.... thank you for everything!
God bless everyone and everything in God's word 🙏☮️🌎❤️
D
They are our legacy 🧸🌅💖🎸🥁🎹💕
Loved this arrangement since day one. Superb.
Man, his voice and delivery seems to have come into its own. Different than the 70's.
It doesn’t get any better than this. Thanks BST
This is a sound of the past, unfortunately. Music has evolved into computerized sound and poor rhythms. Maybe like everything else history will repeat itself??
friggin' golden voice.....this band is one of the very best....thank you for the gifts....soundtracks from my childhood......
David Clayton Thomas, My all time favourite jazz singer.
This was so great I just kept smiling the vocal and band is Like no other
We love you, David. I wish the very best of health and life to this man. Beautiful voice and abilities.....never forget.
Dad introduced us ( my sister, brother and I ) to BS&T due to the fact he loved the horn section. As dad was a jazz drummer in his own right. And we have been Spinning Wheels ever since. RIP Dad.
What a voice - what a band! Pure perfection....
David Clayton-Thomas (Canadian); Steve Winwood (British), and Chicago's Terry Kath (American), were the trifecta of Ray Charles-influenced blue-eyed soul in the late '60s and early '70s.
Still beautiful in 2021. Agree?
YES 💯
The most beautiful Trombone solo ever! I played for years, never reached that level of playing. DCT sounds as good as ever. What a Band!!
Listen to Frank Zappa's "Be Bop Tango" on "Roxy and Elsewhere" and prepare to be gobsmacked!
One of the most talented groups in their day! Pure magic.
a classic
Any day I saw them many times
One of the greats. The horn arrangements on these songs always blow me away.
David Clayton Thomas is awesome. That band were all musically educated and it shows. I wish I was older and could have seen them live. At least I can see them here. Great band of all time
Bless your heart.
I got to see them live! Bucket list realized.
David Clayton Thomas one of a kind! Truly great!! 2021
One of the greatest voices ever
one of the best version of God bless the child, i feel.
We called this "Jazz Rock" back in the day, because it was neither Jazz nor Rock but a mixture of both that created a new sound at that time...
oh yeah, this is the real stuff!!! Blood Sweat and Tears Forever!!
The man oozzes humility and joy yet he has every right and licence to be arrogant. Truly a signature voice!
Saw BST at the Marin County Fair several decades ago....with DCT. Unbelievable! We had the best Rock-Horn bands in the 70's. Chicago, BST, TOP, Chase. The beauty of this song was that it opened up a new generation of real music lovers to Billie Holiday. Grover Sales took us on a Jazz-filled adventure in Survey of Jazz. Music is love in search of a word.
Had never seen this performance of God Bless the Child’. Wonderful. Had all their stuff as vinyls, then cassettes and now cds. Good stuff. When my grandson goes on about ‘c-rap’ music I want to strangle him. This is music.
Should have a million plus views....at least...I may add 100 myself
DCT always smiles and looks so happy when he sings. I love it !!!!
Dunno how many people know how impossible the trombone is to solo on. That was amazing.
Agreed, from this former trombonist.
As a former trumpet player I can see how hard that is..
If I had a bucket list, seeing this man sing live one more time would definitely be on it.
sounds amazing after all these years...
I now have lung cancer and I am grateful to hear that because I didn't know that many tracks from blood sweat and tears 😭❤️🙏🧸
Get well soon❤
@@oskarmac14 that's very kind of you Sir 🤔💖 God bless you 🙏☮️🌎
Szanowny!!! PANIE .... dałeś mi ogromną radość swoim śpiewem. ..Dziękuję !!!!
All jazz players and well educated MUSICIANS
BST Greatest Hits was the first LP I ever bought - absolutely timeless jazz in its purest form - my inheritance album!
David Clayton Thomas, una voz sinigual. Años sin ver un vídeo de esta agrupación que forma parte de mi vida musical.
Sweetest song to accompany the sweetest of memories attached to it. Wonderful.
Your voice has the same potencial he had when I was young and loved to hear David!
Today I missed hear you, "every day in my life I wanna thank you"!
In add let me Tell you that my father used to play "trombone".
Such a gift I won , thank you.
I saw BST on my 21st Birthday a comp from my classmate who was the President of entertainment for Aladdin Casino. I was so surprised cos the maitre d brought us to a table attached right in front of the stage all Drinks comp too. That was 49 years ago , where did time fly
Brass Park Band ( A North Carolina Band ) did this cover early seventies . Loved BS&T. Great arrangement! Jack Kelly
David Clayton Thomas made his mark on the music scene..
David is soul music.
BS&T was the first fusion band I had ever heard. I only got to see David once, and I need to see his show again.
Love, LOVE THIS SONG…!!
I love this group! so talented!
His voice is unbelievable! The band has an incredible sound❤.
These guys are as wonderful as when I was in HS (1971).
So good and that bone solo, magic!
Absolutely the very best. God bless 🙏
My favorite group forever
Cómo he disfrutado con este grupo! qué tiempos aquellos
Blue Eyed Soul at it's Best
Saw them in San Diego, think it was 1972. Memorable, it was. DCT one of a kind.
I STILL LOVE this group's music!! First introduced to it when I was only about 4 or 5 years old ('68/'69). My family lived in northern Mass. Somehow, Dad became acquainted with Dave Bargeron. I remember going to his house around Christmas time and seeing his two-story Christmas tree.
My first record was BST, the second was Chicago, now 50 years later I still listen to ithese bands and I love it still!
saw this band live, at Magic Mountain amusement park in the amphitheater. awesome! so lucky.
These guys had one of the best horn section I ever heard. I heard that.
Ken Heard Not looking to start a debate on this but for my money, Tower of Power was the best and tightest I ever heard. Their 40th anniversary concert was awesome.
Cat’s still got it. DCT.
Recently heard the 2019 version of this song with the new BST band line up and I have to say the vintage still has a smooth sound
We played a great arrangement of this in HS. Wish I could have sung with that band back then.
Les frissons sont là !
Не могу оторваться! Бальзам на душу... Музыка из детства, только в другой интерпретации.
Solos! Superb!
Esta banda marcó una época significativa en mi vida. DCT, el vocalista de sangre , sudor y lágrimas.
Damn I missed some great concerts!
Saw the live in Amsterdan at the Concert gebouw in 1970. Never forget it, power.full
My friend invited me to see David in the early 90s. He performed on the patio outside a Suburban Detroit Hilton hotel. I've seen many live shows and that was one of the best concerts ever.
Still my favorite rendition from the old classic from Billie Holiday
That was amazing! Love that band in its many incarnations.
Brought back many memories. DCT was the best
GREAT!!!! from back then, remember it well, thanks!!!!
Dale Kirkland, the trombonist, played in Buddy Rich's band.
Timeless crazy good.
Eine der genialsten Bands aller Zeiten,
über Ländergrenzen hinweg,
David Clayton, Dave Bargeron Tuba und die andern.
Das ist musikalische Weltgeschichte.
Love DCT love BST music meant something to me at the time and more now.
Thank you for this video. You are blessed!! ALL THE WAY!!!

Do meus tempos de garoto, linda interpretação. Boa.
oNE OF MY ALL TIME FAVORITES
DAVID..... THOSE PIPES
Dave was even at Woodstock!
As much as I like Chicago you got admit BST horn section is superior!!
Almost as good as The Memphis Horns.
try tower of power
Is this a competition? Then give a listen to Chase - Pure Music.
Rich Williams was gonna day they give them a run for their money lol I love both groups.
The only throwback from the original band from 1968 is D.C.T.
A Billie Haladay classic. My Favourite version.
Si il y avait 2 groupes à
L'époque de jazz rock is
BSand tears and Chicago
God bless them pour
Le bonheur qu'il procure
Et le talent
Great Band. D C Thomas is an amazing vocalist. I hired BST trumpet player Lew Soloff to play on my album with Herbie Mann (Fire Island). One of the most amazing trumpet solos on Summer Strut.
Every lineup DCT sings with have been top notch.. all masters of their craft... and he deserves the best.. what a voice !
Beautiful!....
Best horn section I ever heard all of those guys were Cracker Jack musicians.
So, so good.
Excellent
.
So OUTSTANDING !!!
