This whole thing with Microsoft reminds me of the bush era debate about putting back doors in all of our software and operating systems. Some fools trotted out the old line about not having anything to hide, but I think that the software companies quietly did install those back doors. All of their proprietary software is closed source so you could only guess. However, I think all of these data breaches are proof that the back doors are there. Before that time it was the provenance of professional hackers to break into a corporate network. Now, any brain dead script kitty can take down an entire corporate network in a matter of hours. There are so many high level data breaches now I can’t keep up with them all. Microsoft has pretty much told anyone using their products you will be spied on. I have used Linux for 17 years, but never fully converted, I think now is the time. I have bought two brand new computers since windows 11 was introduced. After working with them for only a few days, the level of frustration was so high that I wiped it off of those computers and installed windows 10. They once said that windows 10 was the last Windows operating system and for me it will be. I will NEVER use windows 11. Microsoft and Bill Gates can go straight to hell!

There is one really bad thing with all these on-line age restrictions imposed by governments: when you need to access age-restricted resources online, you'll need to prove your age. By providing some identifying information. Do you want all those resources that are age-restricted to have access to a personal identifying information, and then sell it or just inadvertently leak it? Besides (just my opinion), i don't remember a single piece of "for the sake of kids" legislation anywhere I know to be not primarily beneficial for censorship and other forms of oppression. So yeah, if parents don't spend a lot of their time with children (which implies gradually and carefully sharing their experience and knowledge, not just watching movies or sports events together), no legislation will protect them.

The only way to protect the kids, is for parents to educate, and control access to tech as necessary for the kid's age. Maybe some legislation against "social media" wouldn't go amiss as well. Some parents seem to have abrogated all responsibility towards their spawn, and then expect everyone else to take the blame when it goes belly up.

21:30 I think banning algorithms doesn't make sense. As the world moves to a more open source web, I think this problem solves itself. Open source social media has to be the next step so we can audit their methods for security, privacy, and social health.

Love your theatrical expressions about surviving boredom. I am in mid 40s and going back to the word serch and other puzzles with a pen and paper. I love the smell of the magazine paper and I have noticed my brain is less capable of controlling my hand for handwriting or colouring in the fields. I need to fix it. Also dag out dozens of casettes, cds and LP vinyls, not paying to spotify or other streaming services for the music I already own LMAO.
BUT! We need the government to mandate rules to the corporations because too many parents won't watch your video, or any other such video, and won't do what is right. Their kids shouldn't be punished for what their parents fail to do. That is why we have this problem here. Like corporations won't self-regulate themselves, so parents won't do what you expect them to do. That is where the govt has to step in and it is necessary.

Can anybody tell me, what happened to YT? There are no suggested videos when I'm logged in. When I'm not logged in, pane with recommended videos is present as normal.

With the iPads' memory - could it be, that extra RAM is used by GPU (would be strange, as at least in macOS video memory should be allocated dynamically), or it is allocated exclusively to NPU? Than "normal" processes won't see it.

Heehee, I wonder what the AI will think of my purchases with VISA (debit, ofc). I only use card payments in the computer store I use, elsewhere I use only cash. Why? Because it's a very good shop, they know a lot about computers and computer-associated hardware. What they don't have is change reserve so for convenience I take my card with me when I go shopping there. Normally I only carry cash in my wallet, no cards.

A shop that doesn't, or cannot, take the form of payment I wish to tender, loses my custom. Cash is not illegal yet, although we seem to be quite a distance along that road it seems.

@@tonywise198 You misunderstood. They would take cash, and they have done so. But as I saw how much difficulty giving the change causes them, I changed this little thing. 1: I like those guys. 2: How often do I buy computers?
It's a very little thing to take that stupid card with me once-twice every couple of years.

Adding a computer to something MAY improve efficiency. But, you're also introducing a slew of other problems and concerns, along with it.

That NK scam interests me. So they were in NK, never put a foot on the US soil but still got hired for sensitive jobs in the US by pretending to be somebody living in the US? Did the companies do no vetting at all? Do you not use your postal services anymore, to alert real people living at a real address that something is going on?

In regards to the vscation thing, booking everything you need can be a hassel. Removing all of that could be great. Maybe location choice might be a bit too far, but all the other crap involved around going on holliday? That can be automated.
