It just shows the difference between speed and a light bullet and hydrostatic shock vs. slower heavy rounds for deep penetration. 30-30 is a great compromise if your hunting in deep brush and want enough knock down to kill a deer. If you want a something even more ridiculous for damage and penetration the 45-70. If you want more insane hydrostatic shock try a 22-250 with a 38 grain bullet going somewhere around 4400fps at the barrel. I made the mistake of shooting a 3/8" ar500 plate with the 22-250 at 75 yards with a 38 grain round thinking I'd be ok... nope even that little hollow point went through it like a hot knife through butter. The 45-70 just bends the crap out of them but wont penetrate even at 15 yards. Speed is great if your not looking for over penetration.
