Very entertaining reaction! Interesting that this was your first reaction to Hagane as this is actually a very new song only a couple months old (so going in knew it had to be a prioritized request), and more specifically marked the rebirth of the band following a hiatus of over a year (maybe even closer to 2) after a major split where 3 of the original 5 members all left at the same time. I was wondering if you would focus in on Junna as perhaps the big draw, but while her joining the band is a bit of a novelty, she is one of the two new members, along with the singer (who is technically the third singer but the first singer was only in the band a really short time and I don't know if there is any footage of her performing with Hagane on You Tube). The two returning original members are the bassist and the guitarist. The guitarist is in fact the heart of Hagane, as she is the founder, leader and principle songwriter (so the one who impressed you the most even more than you realized). And you have actually seen her before, but in a video from around 7 or 8 years ago when she was just a high school student recording guitar covers in her family room. Hagane is the band that Sakura Yoshida formed circa 2018 or 2019, after she graduated high school. This is her now in her mid 20s as pretty much a full fledged rock star. Although I would agree with you that as good as her guitar playing is, her strongest skill is actually her song writing (at the risk of getting chased off with torches and pitchforks, perhaps a little Kanami-ish in that regard). But yes, all around a highly entertaining reaction
@evilvolts maybe novelty was a poor word choice, I didn't mean to disrespect Junna, she's a great drummer. I just meant it was far more likely David would recognize Junna than recognize Sakura from one video he watched over a year ago where she was much younger, which in turn might mislead him into thinking that Junna was the main member of Hagane.
As a Maid-iac, I see no issue with the Kanami comparison. It's almost like if Kanami wrote songs with a bit more guitar shredding and soloing in mind. Junna has definitely found a place within a band that support her playing style and energy. I dig the singers voice as well.
So glad I didn't bet on you spotting Juna. I would have said over 30 seconds and lost! I only know this song from Hagane but I hope they stick together with this line up. As others have explained this is a new line up. I have not listened to their latest EP release but hope the other songs are as pleasant as this one. Listening to your review, your score is higher than I expected.
This is the 2nd line up of Hagane. The only remaining members from the original lineup are the guitar player, Sakura and bass player, Sayaka. The co-lead guitar player, vocalist, and drummer formed a different band, Mana Diagram.
@@paulmarks3662 cool. I put 3 into the queue a year and a half ago but they fell short in the priority polling a few months back so are probably at least a year away still.
Thanks, David, for this reaction. Now... I know you are always honest and this is one of the reasons I am suscribed and patreon (lowest level) member. I was expecting a higher score on this one. I get what you said, but music isn't just virtuosity. What makes a good song is not how impressive is each musician individually, it is how it all works together, and this song definitely works. Hagane and this song impressed me, to be honest, and not so many bands had that impact on me. Sakura, the guitarist and song writer, is very talented. As you can see in other comments, they almost disbanded last year, with only one guitarist and one bassit left. But they added JUNNA on the drum and Nagi as vocalist. Both are very good choices. Everybody knows JUNNA, of course, but Nagi's voice fits very well the songs. In my opinion, Hagane is better and more talented than many other Japanese rock/metal bands, but hey, I understand that anyone (including you) can disagree.
Good to see you react to this band finally. They are one of my favorite Japanese bands, and I consider Sakura to be the Miyako of the band, if that makes any sense. They have quite a bit of excellent songs going back to the original line-up with the dual lead guitar of Sakura and Mayto. Mayto and the old singer are now in Mana Diagram, a band with a similar style as Hagane.
The songwriting is done by the guitarist of Hagane, Sakura Yoshida. And she was already on your channel, you reacted by her take on Judas Priest’s The Sentinel.
Haha I knew you would recognize Junna, but I didnʼt expected it to be so fast your reaction was amazing when you found out! I saw this music video yesterday & the guitar playing also impressed me, her v guitar reminded of Syu or full name; Shusuke Uedaʼs Crying Star model from Galneryus, her tone reminds of him a lot.
I liked it straight away as the first song with the new line-up. I also find the voice interesting, I see potential. With Junna, the blurry look is enough for me to recognize her, she is just unique, but I knew that she had signed up with Hagane. I just like her. I also find the bass rather inconspicuous but normal, but I don't know her abilities either, she is the founder. I have been watching Sakura on the guitar for 5-6 years now, she has made a huge step in the last 2 years, a very good guitarist, her own style is becoming more and more apparent. I liked the second release even better (live pictures with live/studio audio). Many people rightly have Hagane on their radar. As always, a very good, detailed reaction
She doesn't need to 'impress anybody' ...you know how talented she is. What do you want...to be 'impressed every time she plays? Presumably, you haven't heard her play 'Hero time' or 'life goes on.' with 'Hagane' yet.
Good song. This band just recently went through a lineup change after a number of years together. The vocalist, drummer, and 2nd guitarist left the band. This is the new lineup with new vocalist Nagi and new drummer Junna. They made an interesting choice by not replacing the 2nd guitarist and going down to 1 guitar like Nemophila with Saki leaving
@@billb.5183 I do hope they bring in a 2nd guitarist. As for Nemophila im not actually a fan but I do try to stay up to date with them and I have been hearing about Mayu being able to play some guitar which is cool
I agree this piece was clearly meant for Sakura to shine. I think the biggest thing about the vocals here is that she is able to do it the same way consistently in lives. Other singers that sound better in recording sometimes fall flat during lives.
While they went to 1 guitarist like Nemophila. But unlike Nemophila, their new songs have a 2nd guitar on them l which means that live, there will be back track.

So glad 🙂 JUNNA is in a band now full time she deserves to be in a band glad she in Hagane 😊🤘
Sakura Yoshida is an amazing guitarist and composer! 🤘

Junna is great to watch she is soo animated 😂
With Junna I prefer a song called "Hero Time", is more creative and agressive.
This whole EP is amazing. The new lineup took Hagane from "meh" to legendary
Thanks, David, for this reaction.

Love this song and the new version of this band. They are a good, solid band and love the fast pace they have adopted.
I'm digging the way Hagane sounds!

Mayu can step in and play a second guitar part when needed. I guess Hagane will use a backing track, unless they try to bring in a second guitarist.

Junna is very fun to watch play drums ❤
Sakura !!! 🎸🔥🤘

I can't believe he said the sky was blue
pickup Thank You!!
👍👍👍
Good
Lol. You're funny.
It's a good job it's not an official lyric video........
Junna is special drum player in japan.
Reminds me a bit of UTA.. or is it just me?
if that wasnt that impressive just wait til you hear HeroTime
I would be interested in you reacting to an older song of them, with Uyu-Metal on the vocals!
