@618fishing If you haven't already, would you like to show the different hooks and rigs that you use and explain pros and cons with the different setups? I would really love that! Specially if you have good tips on how to fish with nightcrawlers without getting snagged all the time. Hope you see this and have a great day!
My first thought when I saw that hole was, "flathead". I think when the water is up next Summer...that place may deserve another shot. Thanks for the vid, Nick!
This spot floods quite easily in the spring because of the river it feeds into. So there is no telling what could migrate into the spillway. This area is home to quite a few species of fish, which could make for some great content from Nick.
In the UK a classic bait for carp is dry dog biscuits, we actually go to the extent of using special drill bit tools to hair rig hard baits like boilies but dog biscuit isnt too hard to rig with basic baiting tools. Id be interested to see how different dog foods would work as bait for you. A semi secret bait for giant pike over here is using frozen rats (commonly sold as snake food) on treble hook rigs, not many people use them but the results from those who do cant ve ignored so itd be another really interesting "exotic" bait for catfish, mice could work too since both mice and rats are natural prey of fish like catfish (as are live pidgeons for giant weld catfish) hope to see more interesting bait experiments in future along with the classics like shrimp
That time lapse... And seeing you hardly being on your phone while waiting and just appreciating your surroundings and waiting for a bite. I don't know why, but just made me smile. Good shit as always!
A terrible day of fishin is still a pretty good day ! Nice gar and some sunnies , no skunk ! Good enough ! Some days you wear em out , some days your just killin time . Either way it beats workin 9 to 5 . If it gets too frustrating head for " The Pond " . We know there's big uns in there ! Always enjoy your vids no matter what you catch 😎👍👍
I've fished all three of those spots because they are really close to where I work. The first spillway I have fished the most. Haven't had too much luck, but I have caught a shortnose gar and snagged a line being trailed behind a pretty decent channel cat. The lake that feeds it has a lot of different species. I personally have caught a few smallmouth buffalo in the lake, along with lots of bluegill and longear sunfish, but I know there are largemouth and spotted bass in there along with many other species. It is just hard to fish without a boat because of all the snags along the edge. Hope to see you fish this spot again. I'm always interested to see what is living in my fishing spots that I have yet to catch.
Hopefully, spring comes. I'll find smaller sun fish to use. Bought smaller hooks. I'll use pieces of nightcrawlers. If I can't find descent nightcrawlers, I'll use white soft plastic grub worms. I'm sure I'll make out ok. I won't break up too many big nightcrawlers. I'll use a bunch of big nightcrawlers for big fish for whatever bites. Also, I'll use a 1/8 oz or a smaller 1/16 oz white crappie jig with white grub worms. Caught nice smallies on 1/8 oz white crappie jigs with white grubs. Put trophy bass on it'll represent a small baitfish because the grub has a ribbon tail. 😊
I would have said no right in the beginning my friend!!! That first spot was an awesome find! I love finding these kinds of spots. So much potential!! I bet it was deep by the waterfall!! Love it.
Hey Nick, Thanks for another great video. I'd like to see your process of picking out a spillway on Google maps.. but none of your secret spots of course..
Google earth’s feature where you can look at past images is huge! It’ll give you a good idea if a spot holds water throughout the year and if it does then there’s a good chance you’ll find fish!
I'm pretty sure they are hybrid bluegill (green sunfish/bluegill). I have caught several at this spot and they look just like the hybrid bluegill we stocked in our lake. Not sure if pumpkinseed live in this lake or not, but I'd love to catch one sometime. Lots of longear though.
@@adamloehr8407 that’s why I didn’t say that’s what they were. I don’t know what is out there. But in my area if I caught one of those it would be a seed
Sorry fishing was slow for fishing but that long nose Gar was a nice catch! Love all you do and work you put into these video and your dedication to fishing and sharing it with us! Have a fun and safe weekend and Happy Halloween! Take care and see you next adventure!
Everything about your videos is spot on. Your editing is spot on and you always give the spot you’re fishing the attention it needs with the camera. Keep up the awesome work.
Im from the uk and followed nick for years. I follow a lot of uk fishermen to but theyball become arrogrant and flash once they get good following, one i liked has become really flash but not nick he is still the same person as always and its great . Cheers nick 👍👍👍
Fyi idk why i stopped getting notifications for your channel. This was a go to once a week to relax and go to bed to. But for some reason i dont see your videos at all unless i look up about once a month to catch up.
Pretty sure that first sunfish ya caught was a baby warmouth, not a hybrid. Used to cat h em alot as a kid, but these days they seem to be a little on the rare side.
Someday, we need a catch clean and cook. I'm assuming you could do that, considering you choose to chop up various "bait species". What do you eat of what you catch! ??? You could make it an "extra" and tuck it in the description under a video, but, Dude... You always leave us so hungry! Fry us some fry? Er, food?
can we just appreciate how much effort goes into these videos and how much nick has improved from his early days!!
Here, here!
Positive waves.
Improved? He’s consistently good if not excellent 👌🏻
Is video quality editing is amazing personality is awesome. I don't see why he doesn't have over a million Subs
bro if I put half this effort in editing I would have a successful channel.

Best time of the day, a 618 video on a Thursday . . . thanks Nick!

Never thought of using frozen mice! Great idea! Thanks for watching and for the comment
A crappy day fishing is better than any day at work. Awesome to see you out there
I love your spillway and creek vids! As an anniversary thing you should go back to the micro fishing ruins and see what's up there from day 1
That time lapse... And seeing you hardly being on your phone while waiting and just appreciating your surroundings and waiting for a bite. I don't know why, but just made me smile. Good shit as always!
I love it when i get on youtube and see that there is a new fishing video

Used to live really close to that spillway. It is home to some huge carp and gar.

The spots in this video were gorgeous!
So great to see Nick at a local spillway of mines. Would’ve been great to see him

YOU ARE the "King of the Spillway" big Nick!
If you can time it right when the main river is up, and there is a solid flow from the lake, you can get into whites and hybrids there!
I love this channel!!
I love it!!!
That's a great spot when the main river is up.
Here in the UK we use floating bait like bread or dog biscuits for big carp in the summer
Love the channel
Those sunfish look like pumpkinseeds to me. Cool video as usual

I’ve caught some good bass out of that spillway!!
Go downstream to the Meramec, some good fish that way too

It is fantastic to see you fishing 👌hello from Sweden 👋
I was literally just fishing at that spot the other day!! There’s some big gar down there
A bad day fishing is still better than a good day at work.
place looks very nice
Let's go nick 💪 love tour channel bro. Keep grinding these videos out
You find some great fishing spots Nick. If it were a little warmer out I think that would be a fantastic place.
I think we all know who the king of the spillway is, and it aint a fish 😅 love the videos man
Nice fish! See ya later buddy
Hey Nick How are you doing? Is all about? Enjoy yourself Have a good day. It stays safe.❤❤❤❤

Production value AF
Nice gar and an A for effort. Good day in my book.
Always great content!
My most amazing catches were on nightcrawlers.!! Secondly on cut bait...
Thanks Nick that was a really good video. How big do u think that gar was, how much did it weigh? 🎣🐟
My guess is about 4-5lbs. It was a nice and healthy looking fish!! See ya later buddy! 👍👍❤️🤟

👍🏻
I swear you fished the same spots I fish on the weekends and the one weekend I’m out of town for a wedding your there
Awesome adventure Nick takes us away from all the noise. 😎Keep them coming buddy
Nick put the entire blue gill on. We are chasing them 100lb flatheads
It’s a Readear sunfish.
They get bigger then Crappie.
Nick one eight at the best 👏
Looked like a pumpkin seed sunfish
I gotta say Nick you really need a helmet for driving the bike , that speed could hurt you pretty bad if you chrash 😬 but as always a cool video 👌
Thanks
That spot gets a ton of fishing pressure. Once the river comes back up enough it should be better fishing.
Gotta go where bubba can't walk to easily to catch fish like you usually do
Is that a wedding band I see, Nick?
Bring thermometer to test water fish behavior or best times for feeding.
Er, food?
That first location looked like if it had more water flow, it'd be very good spot. Pretty sure there's more gar in living in it.
FYI the big gar live right under that waterfall.
Haven't watched the video but the title makes me think he catches a big turtle lol
Wish you would catch decent fish more often like catfish or big bass.
