Danny must have an incredible amount of empathy to be able to play someone who’s so different from himself, and an insane work ethic to be able to learn all the references he’s unfamiliar with and perfect a demeanor that’s so different from his own. He’s so underrated
Abed has to be one of the most beloved characters by the autistic community thanks to how well hes written and how well Danny Pudi portrayed the character
The absolute RESPECT Danny has when talking about Abed is so pure 🥺 Danny Pudi is one of (if not the only) neurotypical actor(s) I and the rest of the neurodivergent community would gladly allow and accept to play a neurodivergent character, simply because he truly understands Abed and (his version of) the mindset of an autistic person. It's so refreshing to see someone who doesn't think autistic people are all lacking in emotions and empathy, but are instead capable (and often dependent on) our relationships with others and are real people with humanity and not robots. Love you, Danny Pudi ❤️😊🥰
@@TypicallyThomas Totally agree! I think that one of the things making him special is definitely that he says things you would usually think while watching, as you said.
@@marinaSt11 abed is autistic, you can’t separate the autism from the person. Abed’s being autistic is what makes him who he is. Every autistic person beholds themselves around their being autistic because that how our neurotype works (I am autistic and Abed was written by an autistic person, which is why his character is so accurate)
@@Leifisnotaleaf Yes, but it's not the entirety of his personhood. That's like saying the burger he ate once as a 10 yr old defines him. It's just differing degrees of influence.
It's funny how Danny is the one to play Abed but he laughs so much, how cute! I'm honestly surprised that any of them can keep straight faces through this show, it's too funny
They don't, there's a ridiculous amount of bloopers and they are just off the group laughing or Chevy forgetting his lines (or falling asleep). If you watch the Rapping Dean clip (Dean's dressed as a peanut candy bar thing), when they turn around Gillian (Britta) is right in the verge of cracking up.
This is actually a super good explanation of like how my emotions are at least. I cant speak for every autistic person but like im often so sort of trying to keep track of watching everything thats going on socially that it's difficult sometimes to react in an organic way. It's a myth that we have no emotions and no empathy. Some of us actually feel more probably, but it's very overwhelming.
Cheryl G thanks for sharing your perspective! Abed is one of my favorite characters in television ever, and I’ve always perceived his character as very emotional. Every storyline they give him shows so much self-awareness when he analyzes his feelings. There’s a lot of wisdom to be gained from Abed’s character.
im autistic too and i feel the same.. abed is a great portrayal of having to manually figure out how to respond to social situations (usually via framing it through a movie/tv reference) while others are just able to do it automatically. which for me makes me feel more like an observer than an active participant..... abed is my favorite fictional portrayal of autism honestly.
@@alli.4259 i honestly can't think of any others that i "really like," since they tend to be pretty stereotypical, but i dont have many issues with netflix's atypical (i can't remember the main guy's name) or sean from the good doctor. abed's really the only canonically autistic character that i relate to wholeheatedly though--probably because dan harmon himself is autistic so he can write him more accurately. apparently the 2017 power rangers movie has a well-done autistic character, though i havent seen it yet.

I love his laugh, idk how to describe it like just sheer overflow of happiness without regard to how others might perceive it. It's like he's just happy, pretty difficult to not be compelled to feel happy as well lol
+Belle of Bengal OMG yesss!!!!! It feels so weird seeing him act normal. it reminds me of his birthday episode when he invited jeff to dinner. im just waiting for him to make the movie reference and be back to Abed.
I like how this show makes you love an sympathise with charackters that are so far aways from the typical hollywood rolemodel. Compared to many other shows it teaches people that you dont have to be a supermodel and/or super successfull to have an amazing life. That chracters that are actually a bit strange are much more lovable than watching someone beein unrealisticly perfect
The fact that Donald doesn't show up for these things (previous engagements and what not because he's -so- busy) is what makes the fans worry that he doesn't care much about Community anymore, he's more interested in his music and his comedy, which is great for him, completely, but it's also a little sad for us, because Troy is my favourite, closely followed by Abed. So it's great that Danny is still so in love with Community.
I felt a connection with abed tbh I’m always saying what’s on my mind , and if someone is uncomfortable I will have to address the issue and I don’t see feelings the way they are I feel like there has be logic behind anything and if there isn’t I won’t be at peace
exactly! that's what I was thinking... why has this comment gotten so much hate? They aren't exactly the same, but they both have a crazy bromance with a million inside jokes. I love both shows and both characters!
My #4 Show of All-Time is Community. IT IS SPECTACULAR IT IS JUST SO FUNNY AND WITTY AND PURE GENIUS there has not been a comedy this good since Arrested Development
So shouldn't Donald be making the most of it? It's not like he's going to be ever lacking in opportunities when Community does inevitably end. It would just be really nice if he showed up, because he does have a natural gift with comedy and that hilarious atmosphere fits in with the group so well. I just miss seeing him doing stuff for Community.
2:40 What about Turk and JD from Scrubs? It's likely Abed and Troys friendship was inspired by those two. I mean, it's a pretty easy thing to hypothesis with all the heavy Cougar Town references mostly from Abed. Scrubs and Cougar Town are made by the same dude. I do see some Bill Lawrence influence in Community.
I think there's more sincerity and comfort in Troy and Abed's relationship. The fact that JD and Turk were so close was constantly, CONSTANTLY used to make jokes about how they were in love with each other or must be gay, and their "Guy Love" song was a giant NO HOMO stamped onto their relationship. Meanwhile, while a few characters make comments about Troy and Abed being in love, neither are ever bothered by this ("They're just jealous"), and other characters respect the special bond they share. Also, there were times when Turk would join other characters in dogpiling on JD, whereas Troy and Abed never had moments that made you wonder why they cared. idk, Troy and Abed just feel more sincere than JD and Turk to me.
thereal vividvisionaries first off, it's troy and abed. and second, they are millions of times better than chandler and joey, please never compare them again.
Although I agree we shouldn't compare them, Troy and Abed are not "a million times" better than Chandler and Joey. They're both great bromances in their own way.
***** bromance is a rather problematic notion for me, deeply homophobic, it implies that men cannot be close without clarifying their heterosexuality. instead, troy and abed are like a couple more than any other parties of the show. and, I'm sorry, but Joey is really stupid, he's obsessed with food and the only thing he talks about is sex and actually in a sexist way. whom did he remind you of? I can admit that chandler is a very interesting character, but still NOTHING like troy or abed! anyway, i find them so much better.
Did I say that Troy and Abed were better that J.D. and Turk? No, so stfu and take your assumptions elsewhere. Both dynamic duo's have completely different calibers of humor. All I meant by what I said was that the two can't be compared with each other because they are all so wildly different.
Its a crime that Danny Pudi did not win any awards for Abed... This Series was indeed ahead of its time....
