My own personal research...a combination of Googling and cross-referencing with other UA-cam videos...has determined that this concert took place in 1980 at Le Spectrum in Montreal, Canada...and. indeed, it was the Ramsey Lewis Quartet, not Trio. The other musicians were Henry Johnson on guitar, Gregory Williams on bass, and Frank Donaldson on drums. In any case, this was a truly awesome concert that wonderfully showcased the late keyboardist Mr. Lewis' truly incredible musical prowess.
Yes, thank you! Ramsey Lewis had that marvelous balance of head and heart, funk and soul. So unpretentious. So real.He was a huge influence and key in me deciding to be an entertainer at the piano for a living. His style made jazz approachable, doable and less ‘threatening’ than Tatum or Peterson!! Maestro Lewis and Dudley Moore knew how to groove and swing! Love 💕
It was way back in the summer of '77 I had the pleasure of seeing Ramsey Lewis and his band at The Ontario Place Auditorium, Toronto, Canada. Still the best 5 dollars I've ever spent......!
Thank you, RAMSEY LEWIS, for doing your part to help tame mankind with your gift and talent. Your music was part background soundtrack to our once young life and continuing. It was a pleasure meeting you and giving incite on working with Charles Stepney and Maurice White. Quite the learning experience for myself. May GOD bless your legacy and surviving family.
Jazz pianist, three-time Grammy winner, and NEA Jazz Master Ramsey Lewis, who successfully crossed over from the Jazz charts to the Pop charts, most notably with his smash hit “The In Crowd,” died peacefully at his home in Chicago on the morning of September 12, 2022. He was 87.
You will be missed! Your message in the music " People Make the World go Around " will live in hearts for life times. See you on the other side Ramsey.
Mr. Ramsey Lewis is one of my influences in learning how to play the piano/ the keyboard...I saw him at the Hampton Coliseum, Hampton Jazz Fest. twice along with other well known music artists...we love you🌷 Rest In Peace🌷Mr. Lewis🌷

Ramsey Lewis , is the very best.
So mind blowing! Discovered Mr. Lewis last year, now I listen almost daily
Bass was lit!!🔥🔥
12:45 is where the magic happens.
1975? Listen to that chorus effect on the bass on some parts. Probably has to be closer to 1980.
Never seen this before. And he's covering Chick Corea's 500 Miles high - even better! R.I.P Ramsey Lewis..
sun goddess was always one of my favorite songs, so happy to find this concert here

Ramsey Lewis Trio? I see and hear a quartet. 3 = trio; 4 = quartet. I may be old, but I can still count.

Plus a guest musician : )0
Formidable trío de cuatro
We just lost our royalty!!
That guitarist is killing it. Name?
Byron Gregory
Henry Johnson!
Nice 🙂🎶🎧🎤
One of the greatest drumbeats of all time. Too bad it wasn't mic'd right. Can hardly hear it.
Oh yeah- niceness indeed
Sun Goddess @ 36:36
Chicago Royalty at its best 🙏
Quarteto incrível 🎉👏, Sir Maurice White é o baterista?
So Sick
1:13 that groove is nasty
I’ve been looking for this for years!
What’s the name of the song @14:10?
Spring High - Stevie Wonder
"Spring High" is on his 1977 album "Love Notes".
BET didn't get started till about 1980 so I don't know how this is 1975 lol
From what I can see, it's a four-piece trio.
Or not?
Ain't not "trio" anymore, though... it's a quartet
What’s the first song called?
"500 Miles High" by Chick Correa.
Que sonzeira para se escutar pra sempre.
