microsoft keeps trying to trick me into upgrading 10 to 11 , I have no video editor now , no mail , but I also already have a windows 11 machine and there is NO WAY i"m upgrading to THAT piece of crap! for my regular use . Thanks for this! I found something an additional check and fix by accident. Check your peripherals. I was using on my desktop Logi MX Vertical mouse, but because of some changes to my desk I needed a flatter mouse so switched to my Kensington Wireless Trackball. Had no slowness with Windows Explorer or Windows 11 once I did that.

Your settings menu is not slow when you click anything in the left side it shows on the right side immediately but mine shows blankness and you have to wait for it to show up on the right side 😢

My trick is to change the screen refresh rate, and it worked like a charm on 22h2 and 23h2...
I switch from the higher refresh rate to a slightly lower refresh rate. In my case, it is 144hz to 100hz or 120hz, but mostly 100hz will eliminate those jittery and laggy ui...
I'm not sure why. Even the basic thing such as ui is so laggy in the first place

Also make sure to check available system updates. Although it might come automatically but sometimes we have to go to the settings and do it manually. Even that can cause lagging sometimes.

thanks. my laptop has a nvidia gpu and I noticed it always was laggy when clicking on the battery icon or start menu, basically any windows ui. Disabling the transparency effects fixed the lagg I had. It basically made it so that every time I opened a windows ui The nvidia gpu had to start to make the effect, and that cause lagg. if I had a game running and the gpu was already active this was not a problem
