I’ve had friends put their all into a dream, but a decade later they are now frustrated bc they are broke and behind in life, unable to support themselves. That’s not great either. Pursue your dreams, but be smart and practical too!
It’s a double edged sword I guess. Those same people if they had priorised different things even though they may end up relatively successful and ‘ahead’ would always have that regret of not knowing what would’ve happened if they had just gone for it, its human nature.

I agree. At the end of the day, its about balance. Most people don't get rich of their "dreams". It takes multiple streams of income to become financially independent.

Yes, but that's where the economy effects the home/family. Just not enough pay per hour of effort these days. In the 60's you could shovel coal and make enough for a home, education for kids, car, and vacations. No skill needed.
These days both parents and sometimes the kids need to be working for basic minimums.

I'm on the boyfriend's side. If she wants to pursue her dream and passion of comedy, I think it's great and she should go for it, but she also still has to pay her half of the bills. It's not fair to the boyfriend to have to pay all the bills and be financially supporting a 28-year old woman.

As an artist myself, I know the difficulties of pursuing a career in the arts, and if you don't have a partner that understands that and is not sensitive enough to understand that, it makes pursuing that dream even more difficult! People who are not artists, cannot and will not completely understand, that's the reality of it!

Exactly, even after Joy explained they didn't care. She is working. They sound jealous because their job requires them to wake up early and work 8 hours or more a week. I'm so exhausted with people not thinking about why things are and if that's how it should be. As well as what it takes to be an artist outside of the unsupported society of America that we live in .
I’m sorry Sunny, most partners don’t make enough money to ‘hold things down for 3 years’. Also, some people have dreams that are extremely unrealistic. They want to do things they don’t have the talent for.
Even people in business don't "hustle" and accomplish much. They leverage and some of the biggest users of drugs that make you stay away and ruin your health are those people who are proud of how hard they work. Accomplishing anything creative requires putting down the "work ethic" and relying on letting your brain do its thing without direction or focus. Inspiration never came to anyone who was hustling.
The issue is when you are financially relying on your partner. Or when it's impossible to even consider starting a family because you are one step above homelessness. Sometimes it's not just about being understanding but about being practical. If someone is putting their dream above stability and practicality, then in those situations, it's best for the couple to break up.

as an artist, I can say it's important to have time. if he believes in her, he will support her. if not, she will find another way without him.
Must Sunny inject herself into every scenario? Her situation is night and day because her hire was with CNN which is virtually impossible to get into and she had the benefit of her law degree and years of experience…that’s a calculated risk..for this other woman making it as a comic is next to impossible and requires much more sacrifice

Not only am I a licensed attorney, but I’m also an actor. The one person who gave me the encouragement to keep going and pursue my dreams was Hill Harper. Unlike you, he actually took the time to give me advice on to navigate law school, and keep sharpening my craft as an actor. So no, Sunny: you’re just as much a dream killer as that guy in the story was.
