Thanks for the blast from the past. The MD- and Super-80 planes were the reason I flew American instead of United. American had 3 rows of 4 First Class seats, while United's old 737s (mostly -300 and -400, but still plenty of -200) only had 2 rows of First. Those old 737s were LOUD, and the Super-80s, with the tail-mounted engines were much quieter in front. Maybe passengers referred to them as Mad Dog 80s, but I never heard that from any of Americans pilots. But I did hear Stupid-80 plenty of times. I think those guys were just p'd off that they weren't flying the new 757s and 767s. I've been to Graz once on business. Beautiful area. The approach into Rhodes was WAY more lovely than I expected. I'd love to fly that route some day.
I just can approve that too. The MD-80 is a very quiet aircraft, especially in the front area of the cabin. Nevertheless, I always tried to sit as far back as possible for the great sound of the JT8D-engines.

Rhodes is a very beautiful destination and also the route to the island is very nice. If you have luck, the pilots prefer a visual short approach.
2 of them arrived here in Venezuela yesterday
Do you know which regs?
I saw LZ-LPN and LZ-LDP....
Die MD 82 war noch ein Flugzeug.
Ja da hast du recht. Ich bin um jeden Flug dankbar, den ich mit der MD-Serie noch machen durfte.
