I disagree with the caption ... the Ryanair pilot did a great sideslip to counteract the crosswind. The telephoto lens created the illusion that the wing tip was close to the ground.
yeah, his video captions/titles are always clickbaity. good vids, though.
Crab, not slip
Agreed. It was not an unstable approach. Nor was it a near wing-tip strike. Well executed cross wind landing if you ask me
I agree with you.
Yep! Telephoto lens distorts all sorts of things. Mountain ranges made to look closer in Hotel/Motel webpages etc etc.
That Rayanair pilot did a straight up combat landing. Wow.
Skill. Give that man a raise
Everybody’s all gangster tell RyanAir shows up.
Ah yes, Rayanair
Meanwhile in the cockpit. POINT IT POINT IT POINT IT POINT IT 10.. 10….
But really though it was magnificent
Kudos to the Ryanair pilot, outstanding skills.
For real, that was not that close to a wingstrike, he was still pretty high up
Right on the center line 👍
I've come to expect any video with Ryanair in it to be bad, but that was a skilled landing. An LDA approach with a nasty crosswind, it was beautiful. Now if other Ryanair pilots could nail an easy approach that well.....
That was impressive alright! Imagine doing that landing in extreme winds with your RC plane.
“Who needs a Harrier when I’ve got a cross-wind?"
Ignorant but that looks like it was over the cross-wind limit.
That Ryanair landing was quite impressive. Im not a pilot nor have I ever worked in aviation, but that was wild.
It’s a normal landing on Madeira.
I have to agree... that was an extremely tough approach on the best of days and that was blowing a gale of a crosswind... Some pretty good flying in my book imo and that wasn't even close to a crash or wing strike...
Oh yes it was
@BericBuilds So, if you were a pilot, or had worked in aviation, would the landing not have been wild?
INITIAL D VIBES 🤣☝🏻️🔝
Madeira Airport never disappoints.
Been there. It doesn't
It does when you land at Porto Santo!
@@paul756uk2 Closer than Tenerife.
I've flown a lot and experienced a number of rough/shaky landings but Madeira is the only one that made my knees shake
First clip with Ryan air at Madeira... not saying that it wouldn't have been better to go around (or even divert to another airport), but holy &$^# that was some impressive aircraft handling.
Yep; same. I was expecting a float or a bounce or something, but they got it on the centerline, kept it down, and it looked reasonably smooth (by Ryanair standards anyway).
Just watching that was a wild ride. Ok, ok, whoa, ok, WHOA, nice, Bang! Centerline. All of that to absolutely stick the centerline in crazy crosswinds.
Yeah it looked a little dodgey but smoothed out just in time for touchdown. Nice flying.
I wonder if it was an “Absolutely Fantastic” landing 😉
Very impressive that without a doubt!
Nothing very strange about the landing in Madeira by Ryanair... Most of the times there are strong crosswinds at Madeira airport that make it very hard to do a stabilized approach... Probably one of the most difficult airports to land in the World! It's a test to the pilots skills!
Dont both pilots have to be captains or both have to have a lot of hours on the aircraft they flying into maderia.
@@alanfairbrother890 I think only the Captain is allowed to land at Madeira and they have to have special training for the airport 😉
Captains only landing and take off plus a sim detail and a check trip with training Captain.
@@montyniblet2379 read an article that a flight had to return to lisbon due to captain taking ill before landing and 2nd pilot not qualified to land.
That Ryanair landing was pro, landed centre of the runway despite all the wind being thrown at them.
Actually, that is a very good landing, sounded very windy, difficult approached and he nailed it, very impressive for Ryanair or any other airline.
This pilot knows his stuff. That was a controlled crabbing for wind landing. Great job.
That's 100%correct,are you a pilot too
That looked skilled - dropping into the crosswind and floating down.
Ryanair pilot practicing his short field side slip approach to a perfect touch down. Nicely done Captain.
That ryanair landing was straight up fucking incredible
When I read the title of this video I already know I’m boutta see Ryan airs best landing.
Ryan Air wrongfully gets beat up a lot.
That wasn’t what I was expecting considering how often Ryanair gets trashed…
Excellent landing under extreme conditions…
Kudos to the aircraft Captain! 👍🏼🍻😎
That was not very close to a wingstrike. Perspective is everything here, especially from that angle things tend to look a bit weird.
Indeed, no way it could come out all right after being at such an angle to be able to wingstrike.
First thing I saw that video a few years ago, I recognized a fantastic landing when I saw it.
1:58 that pilot DID NOT want to go around LOL
well that's "we paid the whole runway, that's why we used the whole runway" definition 😁
sorry, the first one was a fuc...g genius! it may looked like the wing is close to earth but look on the shadow, it was far from it, just genius skills!
Yup, Top Gun style.
Ryan air, not an unstabilized approach. They got hit by a bad crosswind, but the pilots handled it professionally.
I never understand why people seem to think Ryanair have firmer landings than other airlines. Surely it’s just dependent on conditions, same as any other airline. Ryanair don’t exactly train their pilots to do hard landings or have less go-arounds than other airlines. They have an exceptional safety record.
Harder landings saves tires. Ryanair makes revenue by landing bit hard.
I've read they do have firmer landings because it's safer and that's how Boeing specifies a 737 should be landed
It's become a meme. Nothing sinister. People like hyping things ... All great marketing.
A380 flaps sound never disappoints!
He did not almost crash… that was an impressive feat of piloting there.
I’ve never heard someone get so excited about a TOGA
well every TOGA is excited, unless you're onboard that plane 😅
@@hilman94especially when you’ve went around 3 times already
What’s a TOGA
@@kickedinthecalfbyacow7549 Take Off Go Around

The Ryanair landing was actually quite impressive / pilots did an amazing job.
I held my breath with that approach! Impressed as all hell with the pilots skill.
That RyanAir landing was very impressive. Hell of a ride though I bet.
Love these uploads
Your video title is totally unfair spin. You say the pilot "Almost Crashes Plane". That sounds like "pilot royally screwed up". To me it looks like the pilot did an excellent job landing under difficult conditions.
Big Jet's commentary always gets me 😂 This one was only missing a "flippin heck"
Fantastic landing by Ryan air. Really tough conditions and beautiful save without going around
That strong, right quartering crosswind definitely made the approach to land on that already difficult approach a bigger challenge
That is the best Ryanair landing I've ever seen on this channel.
I've re-watched the first clip several times now... what a thing of beauty.
Surprisingly amazing landing, handled those cross-winds perfectly
that was the slickest landing ever.
First clip, Ryanair. Pilot works the crosswind to perfection. What an absolute Guv'nor. 😎
Perfect de-crab landing under such conditions. Fantastic job!
I dunno how you could call that "goes wrong"; in those conditions, that was simply beautiful.
Man that was sick! good landing
"see that volcano over there? Fly into it"
"No"
"No balls"
"Fine"
I always like to hear the guy who filmed the second clip. When he is watching planes he’s at peak happiness. 😆
Today's collection was 🔥🔥🔥
Outstanding landing!!
Yay my clip made it!!! Thanks so much!
Yes ryebbbbb
Almost crashes?... Wdym?
That's how you land a plane in cross wind. This wasn't a bad landing
That was an amazing landing. Well done to that ryanair pilot 👏
Video owner narrations seem to ruin their videos.
That guy is just an idiot. Forgets people what his live channel to see the planes not him.
Ryanair pilots got the skills to land so hard but not break anyone's backs.👏👏
Ryanair Top pilot! Mad skill
I love that you could here the thud from the landing gear touching the ground on the 777
Amazing piloting by Rayanair!
Wow, thats skill right there. The RyanAir landing was very very tough.
Great flying. Expect the worst during landing specially when there are crosswinds. I’m always thankful to pilots after arriving safe.
That BA 777 go-around was much smoother than the camera work. :)
Excellent job of “crabbing it in.” 👍🏻
Very skilled Ryanair pilot, safest airline in Europe with the best pilots
Awesome job first landing
perfectly controlled and normal landing into a strong cross wind
To be fair that’s one of the better Ryanair landings, every flight of theirs I’ve been in we’ve hit the runway like a flipping dart
bro yesterday took a flight for the second time in my life and i can feel every small movement, and when it goes down i get the same feeling that when a rollercoaster goes down from the top, i cant imagine what that people felt omfg
Nice landing! Wow!😊
ryr landing up with that wind and bad rwy, great work
Ryan Air flight was not unstabelized. You can hear the wind in the video and the pilots were in a crab for the crosswind that makes it appear that the flight was "unstable."
Nice, i love your videos
I've just reviewed the approach plates for runway 05 at Madeira. The video doesn't seem to bear much resemblance to the published visual approach path where the aircraft is expected to be lined up with the runway at Rosario 1.1nm from the threshold at a minimum altitude of 460 feet QNH. The Ryanair flight is still turning as it crosses the runway threshold.(note the shadow). I think if I'd been flying that approach in the sim there would have been a few choice words from the training captain afterwards - like "what the f%%% was that all about?!?!?". I don't think that pilot will be celebrating the (lucky/fortunate) landing and won't be boasting of his exploits on UA-cam. Airline flying is about safety, not military-style fighter approaches!!! With all due respect what the general public sees as 'heroic' is not usually contained with the airline's SOPs. Oh, and remember a superior pilot is one who avoids situations that require the use of his/her superior skills. Retired B737 pilot, flying instructor and flight examiner
Impressive landing in view of the conditions
Great video!😸
02:09 Great Sound of the 380. Love it....
Jerry’s commentary is so great 😂
0:37 that's class right there.
My respect for Ryanair just doubled!
That last flap one.... A lot of noise for seemingly very little movement.
Well, them are big flaps.
Like your brain
Amazing landing!
that ryanair touchdown was acually good man..
What a brilliant landing. Wow.
No passenger had opted in to the 20 dollar "Go around" option when booking their flights.
There's an element of truth here. Ryanair work to ridiculously short turnaround times (i.e. getting the passengers off and a new load on). They plan 25 min turnaround slots whereas other airlines plan 1h. So a go-around is to be avoided if it can be done so safely. This is also the reason why they land the planes with a hard thump - to reduce the risk of missing the turn-off to their gate and having to take the next turn-off, which would add valuable minutes to the gate time. That plus the fact that Ryanair order 737s with steel brake discs rather than the more expensive ceramic option, so once the plane is down it needs to stay down and brake hard. Source: Close family member was a Ryanair 737 pilot.
Seems like a very well executed landing. Nowhere was there a near wing strike.
Clickbait video title: Ryanair Pilot Almost Crashes Plane. Translation: "It was a normal Ryanair landing". Okay, actually a skilled landing under difficult wind conditions. (Editor's note: if Funchal was limited to stable approaches only, they would have plane service there once every two weeks or so). Iceland scenes...way cool (or hot!!). A380 "high lift system" with slats and flats...is this any different than any other aircraft?
0:44 yes, Ryanair buttel landing 🗿

Actually is great brave landing and the pilot really have bools to land in such hard situation and not decide to abord the landing like most of the pilots will do, you need to be a pilot to understand how much skills you need for such a landing 🎉🎉🎉
Damm good recovery 😊
great landing!!!
A imagem estática está mais assustadora do que o pouso em si, que foi executado com maestria por um comandante experiente e bem safo! Muito bem aviador!!
That airport is notorious for crosswinds and landings there, the pilot did a great job.
My lovely home of Madeira in the first video...glad I wasn't on that flight 😂
Best ryannair pilot
That was A one great crab landing. Good job.
The amount of non-pilots having an opinion on this video is crazy. Outstanding landing.
Hell. Spectacular. Skilled pilots
What ? That title should be renamed to "Skillful Ryanair pilot makes a successfully difficult landing". He/she was nowhere near crashing. Sorry but you get a downvote for this.
How do you know the Ryanair approach was unstable? What criteria are you using to make that claim? A challenging approach does not mean it was unstable. A wing strike doesn’t mean the approach was unstable.
Last second correction at that low altitude was just impressive...
In tough conditions, those are great landings.
That a380 flap sounds giving me chills
That first one was like a seagull coming in to snag a french fry.🍟🍟
That's actually a great crosswind landing
Rayanair pilot Bravooo!!!!!
"that really made me want to visit Madeira", said nobody ever who watched this video.
Definitely no wing strike, and a beautiful landing by the Ryan Air pilot.
Funchal is always difficult, better now since they extended the runway. Ryanair pilots did very well.
The title shouldve been Ryanair Landing Goes Right!!!the Crew did a very GOOD job!!dunno if i can do the same thing
