The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge took a boat trip together when they visited the Marine Energy Centre during their visit to Orkney.
After the couple's boat trip, they met a group of young children, when a small boy asked Kate if she was a Prince, she replied that she was the Duchess of Cambridge but "lots of people call me Catherine".
The couple are touring Scotland as part of William’s role as Lord High Commissioner to the General Assembly of the Church of Scotland.

I love that. Everyone is walking back to the building and Kate sees the kids and veers off towards them. Seemingly an unscheduled choice of her own. The whole "You do whatever you've planned, I'm going to talk to the kids" thing. She's gonna make a good Queen.

Catherine and William are an absolute credit to the Monarchy, the United Kingdom and the Sovereign. Regardless of their status they always come across as very grounded and caring people. Three cheers for them !
As an American it is unfortunate that most of the Americans I know do not understand a constitutional monarchy, a democracy with free speech. The United States is a republic, a democracy with free speech. Queen Elizabeth II as a head of state stands above the fray and is also a Mother, grandmother, great grandmother, with all the complexities and difficulties of those personal roles. I find the Queen Elizabeth represents a continuity all the more important in the tumultuous world we live in. Some of our United States leaders and officials are devastatingly embarrassing with a continued concept of the doctrine of Manifest Destiny in the world beyond the current states and territories (yes, the United States has territories where the residents, paying taxes, cannot vote in presidential elections).

There are in fact many correct ways to address her though while in Scotland she would most appropriately be addressed as Lady Catherine, Countess of Strathearn or simply Countess Strathearn. It is my understanding that Charles has so many titles that it wasn't until he was in his late teens that he could remember them all.
She could also technically be addressed as Your Grace. Your highness is also another correct way to address her but I think that since she seems to prefer the duchess title "your grace" would be the preferred way and I'm betting that after you've said it a few times she'll tell you to call her Catherine as in this video.

You bet !!! During their tour to Canada years ago,we waited for them to show up braving a cold north wind. My Mum and Auntie gave us paint and cardboard to make a greeting sign: big hearts and their names.
When they got off the helicopter the crowd burst in cheers. The Duchess was wearing a red dress, the Prince a light Navy suit, they were marvellous!! The Prince gave a speech then they greet us, I guess the wind forced them to move faster than they wanted.

It does stay in your mind forever, as when I was in primary school the Queen came up to Alness to open a Nursing Home, we were lined up with also the patient’s and carers and the Queen walked and talked to as many of us as she could, I was so happy to meet her then over 55 years ago. It was a privilege to curtsy to her.

I love how genuine the interaction with the children is, and the way Catherine made a bee-line for the children once she saw them and they started calling out. She cares so much about giving children time and respect. Also as someone who has worked with children of all ages, William nailed it when he told the children that their trainers “looked very fast”! 😂 That is exactly the kind of thing kids that age think and the way they talk. This was lovely to watch.
