    Step 1 was not something I did. Step 1 was something that happened to me. “ We stood at the turning point, we asked his protection and care with COMPLETE abandon”. This experience of total surrender, and practicing the other eleven steps is the reason why I have been sober almost 25 years. See you on the road to happy destiny!

    Tommy, I went on A YOGA RETREAT with you and Kia 4 years ago. I was 6 months sober. Im still smoking ugh. i started smoking in recovery. I love your book. I love your outlook. I love the way the steps got you sober but the frequency was still there. It is really amazing that you put yourself out there for this explanation which i think is so true and authentic. I have sought out healers at huge cost to my pocketbook and my health. I thank you for unsolicited explanation. Please put me back on the list for the next yoga retreat. I won't be smoking then. Thank you. The universe has a plan. I must question more but explore.

    I couldn’t do the meetings for some reason. It just didn’t work for me. I always ended up gravitating toward the wrong people there and I dwelled on my addiction and using while attending. Everyone’s different I know I wouldn’t recommend anyone else to do it my way. For 90 Percent of people the meeting a day is great. It’s just what I had to do to save myself from opiate addiction. Once a week I’ve been going online and writing positive comments to people struggling. I watch recovery videos, surround myself only with clean normal people and I have a supportive family and this is the only thing that worked for me. I now have days at a time where I don’t get a single thought about opiates except dreams at night. When I do get a thought the few times a week I do not entertain it and i think about how destructive it is for a couple hours of feeling high. Not worth it. Good luck everyone, do what you have to do to get well.

      I feel you. Opiate addiction is a mf and omg the detox off fentanyl felt like death. Now my issue is that I've replaced my addiction with other less destructive vices that still impact my life in a negative way. It all still leads me to unhealthy self loathing and depression. I climb and I fall and I get back up and I fall again. It's tiring and I would like to learn a better way and draw strength from others or a higher power. This video seems to help remove the stigma attached to the religious connotation that the 12 steps embody. I was so hung up on this God thing that it prevented me from downloading a new operating system and acknowledging that my OS was broken!

    Dang can't you tell your hamster to cool it? He can run on his wheel as much as he wants once you're done recording!

    Doubt if he will get it - seemed to lack insight into his problem or his anger issues are running wild at home?

    Boah. You are talking about Yoga in a spucky way of a salesman. 12 Steps Programm and recovery is free of “Must”!

    • @MarkusMajowski
      @MarkusMajowski 5 років тому

      TheAlexfiddle - okay. But why then the salesman attitude?

    • @MarkusMajowski
      @MarkusMajowski 5 років тому

      TheAlexfiddle - I understand. Really. I’m living in the program clean for 11 years now, my life is full of yoga in a way . But it is difficult to make a combination between 12 steps program and the necessary “must” of yoga. This is a mixture, far from the big book. Am I right, or are you earning money with yoga?

      I don’t believe it’s a “salesman” attitude, rather an excitement and enthusiasm for sharing the freedom and joy he has found.

      @@MarkusMajowski Tommy has inspired many of us over the years, many have gotten clean and sober have gone to his talks or retreats on scholarship, and he gives back to the community quite a bit, so I'm not here to judge him. And as far as a salesman like attitude, as you may know, this is a program of attraction, not promotion, I find Tommy and his wife lovely people who are part of a healing network. Sure, if they make a couple bucks along the way, good for them, because I know they will continue to support others.
      As far as the "must's" go, the Big Book says " Our book is meant to be suggestive only." then come 103 "must's", we are not here to argue the Big Book, we are all on the same team working on our recovery one day at a time.

      Marianne Lane - rather than. I love you all. But talking about Yoga by repeating the word Yoga again and again reminds me of a commercial script.
