Costco 2021 Wine Advent Calendar Wine Review Day 23!
Western Cape Gold, Cabernet Sauvignon, South Africa
This is the first wine I’ve had from South Africa and I believe the only wine from this country inside the advent calendar.
Cabernet Sauvignon is not my usual pick for red wine and unfortunately this wouldn’t be my first choice either. After doing research on the region, I can find appreciation for the region in which the grapes grow and see how many could revere this region as being a solid challenger to French reds. I just found this red to have too much of a meaty taste to it and not an enjoyable after taste on the palate. This could be an acquired taste but I do enjoy the dark fruits notes in there.
