You're making me so excited! I've had a year of being a covid long hauler and I'm finally feeling better and I have a backpacking trip next weekend. Hopefully my anxiety calms down but it's so nice to feel like I'm getting back in shape too. ILY!

Not an expert, my friends who took me were. We did about 80 miles of the AT. Mainly around the Gatlinburg, TN area of the Smokies. I loved it though it's not a passion. I get why it is for you from experience. Guess that's why I love the channel now, nostalgic feels! Thanks for bringing me along. Glad I clicked!

I take anywhere from 40k-50k steps a day according to my Fitbit! I’ve seen lots of people over 50! Have a few in my trail family in their 60s that are dusting me right now😂 COME OUT HERE AND DO IT GIRL!!
WWomannc... The oldest I've ever seen on the trail myself was a 78 yr old man. Age is not a prohibiting factor as long as you're in reasonably good health, can walk several miles a day consistently around your neighborhood with a full pack, and have a complete phys. exam before starting. Being a consistent walker daily is a key factor. Older people, particularly, have learned that it's not brute strength nor youth alone that will get one to Katahdin, but rather what is in one's heart.... endurance, patience, self-discipline, perseverance, motivation, and the greatest of all assets... the ability to overcome one's own self that says: " You can't do this, it's too hard, too cold, too wet, too far." So... the trail singing may not reach the top of the chart, and the handstand was maybe somewhat less than Olympic excellence... doesn't matter. What does matter is that on that day you were completely in the present moment, and experienced one of the happiest days of your life. One that will live in the attic of your memory forever. Many more days like that are in store for you on the way to Katahdin. That's why we do it.
