I want to say that Dr. Osterholm has become the one I listen to for my info on Covid. It's the way he doesn't say that this, or that is absolute, or when he says he doesn't know he says so. This hasn't happened in approx100 years and anyone who says they know for sure is well...let's just leave it at that.
There is a risk when crossing the street. I limit those risks by crossing at a signal, by looking both ways twice, by moving as quickly as I can to the other side, by making eye contact with drivers, by not talking on my cell or drinking starbucks, by listening for runaway vehicles. Doing all these things arent making me less free. It is easy and not at all encroaching on my "freedom".
Disappointed with the first topic about people and science. I find that the phrase ‘follow the science’ is not the same as ‘follow science’ (ie continual inquiry perhaps until ‘proof’). The dominant media and public health messages may have some roots in science. Many of the people who are concerned about safety, efficacy, and potential negative implications of these vaccines also have roots in science even though it is not the dominant perspective. I believe we are all better off through respectful discussion of all alternatives and ‘tools’ for testing, treatment, prevention, and recovery.
There are some that do, there are some with legitimate concerns which should be respected and alternative prevention/treatment protocol suggested, rather than being ‘dismissive’ of an anti-vax perspective. I am personally double-vaxxed & considering which booster. However I also respect personal choice and concern. While the vaccines may be the ‘single best tool’ for preventing severe outcomes, the vaccines are only one tool. We all benefit from more complete and clear messages about all of the tools that provide benefit (D, zinc, mouthwash, nasal flushing, ventilation, etc.). There are many tools that are needed for both ‘breakthrough’ infections and ‘non-vaxxed’ infections. Applying many tools is best ultimate path to limit spread, limit hospital burden, and reduce severe outcomes.

Doctor Bhattacharya of Stanford and Doctor Kulldorff of Harvard are just as competent and informed as these guys, if not more so, and they see it differently.
@@fabiansandoval6132 I'm not at all sure that is true. Granted, he is very competent, and among the best; but there are some who are comparable, and perhaps a few who exceed him in one way or another. Certainly there are specialists who exceed him in their own areas of expertise. Some vaccinologists exceed him in their field, for example. The same can be said for some of the virologists, statisticians, logicians, biochemists, immunologists, and psychologists, among others. Many would object, but existentialist and other philosophers can contribute insights beyond the usual, when it comes to facing death and evaluating risks and risk-benefit analyses. Kulldorff has a better perspective on the mental health of children, and on natural immunity. Child psychologists and educational psychologists certainly can contribute, and their contributions may surpass those of Osterholm when it comes to these considerations.
This BS about driving on a highway needs to be qualified. Just throwing numbers is meaningless. Who is at risk, what time interval, and what is the data to back that up. For example I am not driving on a highway so I have no risk in that regard.

He says it is absolute that the virus was passed to humans by an animal. He says that is fact.

Ivermectin "highly toxic?" That's a big lie.

Great conversation however he totally dodged the question at 26:00

Most anti vaxers misrepresent really everything to do with vaccines.

Dr.Osterholm you're doing a great service to public. I wish I could say the same about Dr. Fauci. I just wanted to say thankyou for your service.

Hello? South Korea is now seeing the highest number of daily COVID cases and deaths, despite having 78.2% of the country fully vaccinated.
[citation needed]
78% is not enough unless you have restrictions
@@outsiderofficialmusic It's unfortunately true. Ireland has 77% and yet is on the top 12 worst countries right now
Some have waning immunity so not really fully vaccinated.
@@cathynakayama470 So you want to get booster shots for the rest of your life? Seriously?

No one is more competent than Dr Michael Osterholm.

Time to stop the talking. Time to introduce a worldwide mandatory vaccination program.
Exactly!!!!!!!
