Notice how smartly dressed and well groomed literally everyone in this video is. These were the 70s working classes, and despite not having to shillings to rub together, they still made sure they were presentable before leaving the house. I think this was the last decade where people took pride in their appearance.

This brings back memories of visiting my African-Caribbean, Jamaican, and Guyanese family in London during the '70s, especially going to Carnival. This perfectly captures what it was like back then. Bravo for sharing this!

Boy… rough times back then. But No killing and stabbing our own people.
We seem to have lost our identity, Our own individual cultural style and heritage. Just take our women
For example. Minimal cosmetics and appendages, like eyelashes, nails weaves, push up bra.
We certainly have embraced uk culture. And at what price ?

The video is very good but it didn’t show how mixed Brixton was. It definitely wasn’t a predominately black neighbourhood in the 60s & 70s. How do I know ? I was born in Brixton in 1968 and lived there until 1996. It was very cool in the 90s, lots of things to do. After Covid it definitely needs more investment from the government but that’s unlikely to happen
