I love Paul Di Anno, definitely together with Maiden they redefined heavy metal like no one had ever done, but with the Bruce arrival to the band reached its absolute epitome, and not only because Bruce Dickinson is and will be the best voice in history. of heavy metal with Ronnie James Dio, but also because just as Maiden redefined the genre with three unsurpassed albums such as the homonymous, Killers and The Number of the Beast, they redefined heavy metal once again with another trilogy unsurpassed by any band like was (and is) Powerslave, Somewhere in Time and Seventh Son to Seventh Son. Regarding Clive, tremendous, dearest and absolute great drummer, but Nicko's technical quality is far superior not only Clive, of any metal drummer. His heel toe, dissociative capacity and "touch" make him the great master of heavy metal, who with a single bass drum does what many cannot do with two.

I miss this lineup of the band. Certainly no disrespect to Bruce and his amazing voice, but I loved the Di'anno era. Killers always was and will be my favourite Maiden album.
Man, Paul was exceptionally talented, his voice at the start of Maiden was incredible and this performance goes to show his voice was growing with the band into an absolute Killer on vocals, shame they had to part ways, miss the edgy dangerous sound of original Maiden but therefore its always something special to treasure.

I saw Maiden after paul was replaced with Bruce. Twice. Twisted sister opened one year and then quiet riot another. Bruce sounded horrible when he sang the di'anno songs. I wish I could have seen them with Paul but I was too young. At least we have this.
If Paul wasn't prone to substance abuse and had better anger management, he'd still be the frontman. I had an extensive chat with a founding member and that was the conclusion. Then again, none else can be Bruce. Education, charisma, multitasking... Bruce is phenomenal. Amazing frontmen, both. Happy 2020 :)
