I absolutely love how the exact kind of obscure game mechanics that you could sometimes use to cheese a different map is the actual intended solutions to this map
Allow me to understate it: staring at bedrock is annoying, I get it, I do, but a texture pack would be nice, especially for UA-cam compression, and the amount of times the map was able to failed is pretty high, but im not going to pretend it’s easy to prevent that. All in all, it’s an impressive map.
@@theendofthestart8179 Building a fail prevention system would be really hard and would involve finding every single possible wrong solution. Checkpoints and a reset button would be a nice touch though. I actually like that this map does not have obvious solutions and allows players to find their own.
@@karinisvetcool resource conservation is always something you have to keep in mind, thinking about other uses for blocks and such. But I still agree that was a rough softlock
I've glad Kenadian is working with Seawatt, since it seems Seawatt enjoys the odd mechanics and Kenadian can make puzzles that don't have 15 faster but unintended solutions
These escape rooms blow my mind. I'm very guilty of overthinking which is the worst thing to do in these. I think you two compliment eachother pretty well with a good blend of mechanics knowledge, gameplay skill (like parkour) and just generally different ways of thinking about the puzzles. I'd love to see you do one of these with Tubbo. Just make sure that one side or the other has water tunnels 😂
i was a playtester for the first puzzle in the escape room and it took me an hour to figure it out with hints. Kenadian and Corealis did a great job designing this escape room.
A few years ago, Captain Sparklez released a video where he played a map called "confusing cubes." I think it would be really cool if he tried out confusing cubes 2. It has more detail, more story and there's a level-select tool so you don't need to be running back and forth all the time. It's so much cooler than the original. Please try it.
I can’t believe it you’ve been on UA-cam for about 10 years I think and your still posting I’m really happy about it you bring back so many memories to me and my family
I really liked watching Jordan leading the parkour part. Also, I feel like Seawatt said "The map is mocking us!" many times. How about making a nice map that makes you think it's mocking you, but is actually super friendly?
For the gold pressure plate level, could you fill every item slot in your inventory with golden carrots and drop the rest of the times on the pressure plate and stand there as well
When two veteran minecrafters who, mind you, are not acting like they don't know how to solve the puzzle and actually go through it with minimal information(ahem, that one hopper guy), mess up multiple times in an escape room even after giving it all their attention, you know the puzzle's good!
I remember listening (not watching, really) the first one and thinking "I wonder if Kenadian will roast this escape room since SeaWatt has part in it". Turns out Ken made them so I guess no roast content today :( very sad. Only realized because I looked over at the video for a little bit and Ken happened to be talking.
You could maybe stand on the Green Powder Block to Break the sign in the middle of the to Pistons to then place the Powder there and use only one Button and activate both
Soft lock #3 (the one the map maker told you about) wasn't a soft lock unless the crafting recipe was changed since the two wasted snow blocks could be broken back into snow balls and recrafted into the blocks needed to make the golem.
@@DrgnZip I thought that was only snow, not snow blocks. Although it was probably a change in one of the modpacks I played that I just assumed was vanilla since that's the only time I can think of that I have ever broken a block without a shovel.
As cool as the map is, I do think they should've thought ahead when it comes to the clearly large number of potential softlocks for maps like these, having so many potential softlocks is poor design in general, something like a reset button to reset blocks to previous states and return certain items would likely be an easy fix for most places, or as some of those higher quality maps have, the items that you drop to reset to x point.
It is not nearly as easy as it sounds to program an un-softlock option that can't be exploited. But I agree that having so many non-obvious softlocks in the first place can often be indicative of poor design.
if this map was for the public to play, which I don't think it is correct me if I'm wrong, I'd agree but it was made by the person unsoftlocking them. They had someone moderating because there was a chance for it to happen. I'd argue it allows for even harder puzzles with less work from the map maker because he can just fix it for them.
@@plorby7680 They weren't more genuinely challenging though as a result; they were just easier to mess up. And when you do get softlocked, it should at least be possible to tell that you are softlocked. Yes, you technically don't need to because the map creator is there to simply tell you, but it would make for a funner map if everything could naturally be understood or played without the creator explicitly telling you everything they failed to initially make clear. When people do get softlocked, you want them to go "oh, I messed up", not "well how was I supposed to know that". (Speaking as an experienced puzzle map maker, if that's relevant)

The amount of effort that Kenadian and Corealis put into these maps cannot possibly be understated. The puzzle design is absolutely amazing

Kenadian's debunks are awesome.
and CaptainSparklez proved you don't need 3 ladders

Best line in all of Minecraft escape room history.
It's at 18:12 if you were wondering :)
i guess you could say that the plate got a lot of pressure
I guess you could.

"And then I had a very good idea.I used F5,you see, using F5 gave me a whole new perspective-"

To be fair, a map shouldn't be designed to soft lock when you use blocks you could have no way of knowing you can't use, like the snow blocks.
@@karinisvetcool resource conservation is always something you have to keep in mind, thinking about other uses for blocks and such. But I still agree that was a rough softlock

The comment about the ladders at the end especially. To be fair I think a lot of us didn’t even think of that.

Its fun to see these escape rooms actually being played instead of faked
thank you for knowing parkour so much more advanced than just a bunch of jumps and specific jumps can be extremely difficult
the amount of deep game mechanic knowlege you need to complete these maps is so satisfyng 😄
every time kenadian had to come in to softly say you soft locked, *again*, was peak comedy.

Those maps are genius! MORE PLEASE! :)
This map was wild, and super entertaining to watch. Mechanics I definitely didn't know. Cheers!
if sparklez also was able to do the slime parkour, i would think about that sign that said brain>skill and just destroyed ladders
Mind blowing. The map makers are evil geniuses, this was SO fun to watch!!!
I just loved towards the end captain sparkles finds another way to complete the final puzzle that the developers probably didn't intend to happen.

A puzzle map shouldn't be so poorly made it needs the creator to bail you out every 30 seconds.

You canb ctrl + q to drop the entire stack or in ur inventory drop it out all at the same time
That 3rd soft lock was not your fault because he gave no hints to you needing the snowblocks.
No, using the lectern allows trips back and forth and you can break the lectern so if you need it again you can then go replace it with snow
Yes that's the smarter thing but I feel like it should have hinted more towards you needing to save the snow.
