Jeweller To The Stars: The Secret Art Collection Of Attilio Codognato | Private View

- In Venice we see the jewels of Attilio Codognato, who made pieces for everyone from Elizabeth Taylor to the Duchess of Windsor. But Codognato also collected modern art in the 1960s. He helped to organise the Venice Biennale and befriended American artists who flocked to Italy at that time, among them Andy Warhol, Cy Twombly, Robert Rauschenberg, Jasper Johns. They partied together at his palazzo and he bought their work. Andy Warhol painted Attilio’s portrait using his silk-screen technique: it still hangs in the dining room. Codognato acquired an early painting by Twombly that has never been seen.

The presenter's desperate attempt to attribute some grand significance to Cy Twombly's pencil scribbles is priceless.
Well said... it reminds me of the children's bedtime story about the Emperors new clothes.
Now we know why this video is called a 'secret' collection... can you imagine people visiting that place and breaking out in uncontrollable laughter, when they see the mess this guy has stuck up all over the walls.
I especially like the ton of BS being dished out about the cardboard boxes. It's comical.
This presenter in particular is really one of these talkers, blowing smoke every which way.
The cardboard boxes part is the one that makes people say “eat the rich!”, what a indefensible stupidity…
I hoped to see some of the jewellery creations rather than an esoteric art history lesson.
I didn't know you could have so much to say about cardboard boxes hanging on a wall . What about the three people sitting and analyzing squiggles and blobs of paint. Intellectuals ?
15:40 are you really swooning over cardboard found near the local dumpster because if you wanna pay me big bucks for "art" like that I have a shit ton of card board boxes for sale for an unreasonably exclusive price tag!
...he's using a pencil, he's TRYING to say something, blah, blah, blah. If you have to talk soooo much about what is going on and convince others that it is art, then there is something fundamentally very wrong. (Don't piss on my leg and tell me it's raining!)

Totally agree ! Imagine having that much to say about cardboard boxes hanging on a wall.
My question is with so many exceptional collections and collectors in the world today, why did the producers of this video decide to waste their time and energy celebrating this imposter and the God awful mess on his walls.

And the pretenders to the elite are laughing pretentiously.
So this guys only claim to fame is that he inherited a famous jewelry shop and the family fortune, that allowed him to live in a precious bubble of rainbows, unicorns and lollipops, as he collected a God awful mess of stuff that he calls art, (which he is free to do, of course.) That does not mean those of us living in the real world are total idiots and we will just pretend, that the ridiculous stuff on his wall was created by an exceptionally talented artist that was gifted by God. (We can all agree that any 5 year old could create that 'art' in less than 10 minutes.)
It's amazing how you suddenly become an 'expert' on art, when mommy and daddy give you millions of dollars to spend on whatever.
If you have to be TOLD to feel something-- as the host says when she's standing in front of the cardboard boxes-- this is NOT art. THIS is dictatorship. AND art is NEVER dictatorship. THIS is the way of the artist saying FU to the viewer and to the person who will expend thousands of dollars for literally trash. They've more than likely done a lot of art that's TRULY art and very good and that actually moves the viewer without telling them that they MUST be moved; and NOW they're just having a little fun with the connoisseurs of art --or would be connoisseurs --and making tons of money doing it, but mostly getting off on playing the audience they have accrued through excellent work in time past. THIS cardboard box is their swan song, sad to say.
More people need to shout from the rooftops "The Emirer Has no Close" all the while the Elitests spout praise and rhetoric.

Well, the title is "The Secret Collection of...." Now I see why he kept it a secret!!
The presenter seems to take herself and all of this a bit too seriously. She is the worst kind of art academic. So revoltingly stuffy.
Soooo desperate to have everyone listen to her talk, but she says nothing... that God awful mess on the wall, posing as 'art' would be funny, if it were not so sad.

A lot of young new artists' works bought and displayed had to do with wealthy patrons developing personal crushes on them. All that pencil doodling by CY were likely difficult to praise, but his handsome looks weren't. It happens all the time. Pays the bills.

More money than brains apparently... the con artists at some art gallery saw that fool a mile away and they have been laughing their way to the bank ever since.
This video was so boring I tapped out 25 minutes in. Presenter is just standing there, gabbling away at the art curator, who has his arms firmly crossed the whole time. He's not buying a word she says; nor am I. Perspective, if you're going to use someone else apart from Waldemar, then please at least use someone with some camera presence and cred. Fiona Bruce would have been a much better choice.

@@iam1ina1000000 Who knows? Maybe the removed ones were NOT nasty, and someone operating this platform has a grudge against this host... Or maybe they WERE nasty, and they were reported by others, which would allow a count to still be seen, while the actual comment is no longer visible. Or maybe they were deleted by the poster. My point with my original comment is how awful we can be to each other. What a waste.
